Sleep Over with the Older Grands

Twice a year, usually around Conference Weekend we have all the older grands spend the night.  We were in Palmyra this year and so it was put off.  Ivy reminded me a few weeks ago that we hadn't had it yet.  I told her that maybe we should wait until Jared left and girls camp was over.  Her and one of the other girls both said "No, we want to have it before Jared leaves."  The grands love Jared and Kimleighel and so it happened tonight.  It worked out good since we have Trichelle's kids this week anyway while her and TJ are in Peru.

These sleepovers are really fun for the most part.  I say that only because there are moments when I roll my eyes and wonder if they are worth it.  I forget that attitudes happen and everyone doesn't always get along until those things show up.  The good thing though is the few little mishaps never last long.   We all have fun and I really think the fun times will be remembered.

Our house was smoking in the morning when I let the older girls make their design pancakes.  Years ago I did them but now the older girls enjoy making them. We just opened a few windows. ☺  I really do enjoy these get togethers even though they aren't quite as perfect as I imagine. ☺   I love my darling grands and I will do things together as long as they want to.

Sunday

Jared's Farewell

I've been busy getting Jared ready to leave.  I marked all his shirts, garments and socks with blue nail polish. (it stays on)  I stenciled his luggage so it will be easy for him to know which of the black suitcases is his.  I think he's about ready.

Today he spoke in Church.  I think he did a really good job.  Jared is just a sweet, humble kid.  He wasn't stressed or really concerned about his talk once it came together.  He peeked at his notes a few times to make sure he mentioned what he wanted but he mostly spoke from his heart.  I was proud of him.  As I listened to him speak I felt such peace and I really believe he is going to have a wonderful experience on his mission.  He wants this and is ready.
I wasn't sure who would be able to come and support him since it was memorial weekend and so many people go out of town but there were quite a few of our friends and family there.  Not everyone came to our house afterwards but that's okay. There were still quite a few that did and there was plenty of food.  I had a lot of friends bring over food. (I have such great friends)  Our house was still full of love and support for us and Jared.  The only time I got tears was when I looked around the Chapel and saw so many people that are so important to us.  I feel so blessed and I know that I am.
I love seeing everyone socialize and mingle as we celebrate Jared.  I bounced around the room trying to make sure that I talked to everyone.

Today was such a fun day.  I love these wonderful times together with family and great friends celebrating the new Chapters of our lives.

"Play"ing Blue Eyed Betty

I really love going to the plays with Barbie, Heather, Natalie and Carla.  We have such a good time.  Tonight Carla made reservations for us at Market Street Grill since her daughter was working.  I was still full from eating at chicken sandwich with Parker and so I only ordered a salad.  Jessica (Carla's daughter) took care of mine and Carla's bill for us.  I didn't expect that but Jessica is a sweetheart.  She gave the others a discount.
Tonight the Play was about a Pig....a blue eyed pig.  I was really hoping that the internet would have a picture of our pig but it didn't so I will have to describe her.  Our pig was a bigger gal dressed in a little girls pink dress.  Her hair was in curly pig tails.  She had lots of eyelashes so when she fluttered her eyes it was noticeable.  She had pink polka dot boots on.  Around her waist was a ribbon and in the back she had a curly tail.  She rode a pink tricycle around the stage and when she was excited she chimed her bell.  When she "tooted" her horn...well that's when she "tooted". (Heather sent me a picture of our pig...isn't she cute?)  It was so hilarious to watch her.  I just laughed and laughed. Who'd want that part?  Did others say: "You are so perfect for that cute pig part".  The gal played it so well and I'm not sure how the other actors were able to hold a straight face when Betty, the blue-eyed pig, fluttered her lashes or rubbed her cute head on them.  The pig was suppose to be eaten for a big celebration but as you probably guessed...Betty was saved and not eaten.

After, when we like to get a group picture the only person in the room was an older gentleman.  I asked him if he would take our picture and he said he would.  I knew when he was holding my phone the wrong way that he had no idea what he was doing.  This also cracked me up.  I had to reset my phone a few times but as you can see the setting was still changed to black and white. ☺  I think the guys kept touching the screen by mistake.  Carla and I noticed while he was taking our picture that his finger was over the lens. ☺  We did get a few good ones but everything about tonight made me laugh out loud.  The guys asked if they were okay and I when I looked I bust up laughing again.  There was a picture of his finger, part of my hair, and quite a few with his finger blocking most of our faces.  The first ones he took were the best.  I really did appreciate the guy and seriously he just made the night better.

We got in the car and before we left I started laughing so hard again that I had to get out because I was gagging.  The funniest noise was coming from me as I laughed and gagged at the same time, which made me laugh and gag some more.

The laughing continued when I got home.  I expected everyone to be asleep but when I walked in my room Larry was posing and immediately I dropped to my knees laughing.  Oh my word, today was such a fun day.  I love to Laugh!

Surprise...Kevin is 60

I love the Taylors!  The cute Taylor kids had a surprise party for Kevin tonight.  They had everything set up in their back yard.  It was cute and very casual.  It was fun visiting with the Taylor family.  Kim and I went to the same ward growing up and so we have always been friends. Kim was even in my wedding line.

I remember when we met Kevin and his fun group of friends.  We loved going dancing and hanging out with them.  Kevin has always been a happy and nice man.  I thought Kim was a lucky girl when the two of them got together.  Together they have the cutest family.  Each one of their kids are awesome and they are a very close family.  This family does everything together.  They look out for each other.  They are such wonderful examples of how families should be.  Larry and I love being around them.

When we had our trailer we would go camping with them.  That's where we met their friends. Everyone likes going camping with the Taylors.  Kim and Kevin would arrange everything and the rest of us just showed up.  We still showed up a few times after selling our trailer.  I'm so happy that we are friends with this family and that friends are forever too.

A Muddy Mess

Larry had to climb 15 feet into the drain pipe to cut some roots that had found their way in to it.  It was quite the day for him.

Parker's Birthday Sleepover

Today was Parker's Birthday Sleepover.  This month has been so crazy that it took us 3 weeks to get a day.  I invited Zaden to come play too since it was the last day of school and I was having Parker over early.  These two are quite funny together and they make me laugh. Parker wanted to go shopping right away but I was afraid it might hurt Zaden's feelings and so I wanted to wait.  Parker was sad and so my plan of having a fun time after school wasn't working so well.  Zaden was ready to go home because the boys weren't playing.  Then we all talked and Zaden said he wouldn't feel bad going shopping with Parker as long as he got a treat.  (we forgot to get a treat)
Parker knew what he wanted before we even went shopping.  He wanted a nerf gun and the only thing that changed was the actual gun that he got.  I loved following the boys and loved watching them look around.  Parker was actually dancing in the aisles.  We were fast and out of there in no time that's why we forgot the treat.  We stopped at Little Caesars after because Parker wanted that pizza for dinner.  Zaden wanted his own bag of crazy bread and so he got it.

When we got home the boys had a little bit of time to play before I needed to take Zaden home.  It ended up being fun for them.
It really is so much fun having the kids over for their birthdays.  I love our one on one time and we had plenty of it with Parker.  I enjoy sleeping with them for their birthdays and watching movies before bed.  It's always fun to see what movie will be chosen.  Parker chose Turbo.  I sure love these kids and I'm glad that they enjoy coming to our house.  I really can't believe this cute boy is 7.
I let Parker stay and play for most of the day.  We went to Burger King for lunch because I also like to treat them by taking them out.  Parker is such a fun, cute boy.  I love him to pieces.

Wednesday

A Pay Day Kind of Day

Ivy text and called me last night to tell me that she would be graduating from Elementary and they had an awards assemble in the morning.  I had planned on going to the Temple but of course I went to Ivy's school instead.  The only other thing I had planned on doing for sure was to get my window welded before the rock chip spread.  (good thing that's all there was)  The program started at 9:00 and lasted until 10:30.  Cute little Behr did really well even though he was way over his nap time.  I looked over at him and Trichelle and he was having the best time hiding in between her legs.  She would grab his head with her legs and he thought that was the funniest thing ever.  It was funny.

I love that Trichelle and Daniel get along so well and that he felt comfortable to come sit between Trichelle and I.  Ivy got award for: N.O.V.A graduation, being a 6th grade officer, physical fitness, citizenship, honor roll-all quarters, and the Presidents Academic Excellence award.  It was nice seeing that she is applying herself and working hard.  I'm proud of Ivy Marie.

After the Awards Assembly the sixth grade had a talent show.  Ivy invited me to stay but asked her parents to both leave.  How could I not after that?  I was impressed by the talent of the kids and even more impressed with their confidence.  It was awesome to see.   An hour into the talent show we had to take a break for lunch.  Ivy asked me if I would take her and her friend out.  Her friend got permission from her dad and so I did.  We didn't have long and so we went and got a drink from Fiiz and a pizza from Little Caesar.  We got back just in time.  Ivy didn't perform until about 1:00 or just after.  So, I was at her school the whole day.  They had to end even though not all the kids got to share their talents because it was short day and the time was up. (they get to share on Friday)  Ivy and her friend sang a song and even though Ivy wasn't please with how they did I thought it was great.  She was upset that her friend didn't sing a few parts (because she forgot the words) but it didn't matter because they were singing along with the artist and so it wasn't noticeable at all. They did a good job.

I did go get my window fixed after. ☺
Tonight Jared went through the Ogden Temple for himself.  What a thrilling and rewarding time of life.  My heart was filled with so much gratitude.  All my boys were there tonight with their cute wives.  Mallory, Kathy and their hubbies came.  Jeff, Becky and Jackie were there too.  Grandma Ruthie and our Home Teachers (the Sparks) came to support Jared as well.  Then as the room was filling up my cute niece, Stacey entered the room.  My heart about burst seeing all the love and support Jared had from our family and friends.  (Tonya got sick and couldn't come and felt so bad and Mark had Bishop responsibilities)

During the session I did feel a few loved ones from the other side of the veil.  I know there were probably more than I know but it was cool to know of the ones I did.  It was a glorious night.  I look forward to the day that Kimleighel goes through.  She had talked about going through with Jared but didn't want to take away from him.  I guess she just isn't ready quite yet.  It would have been cool but it still will be when she makes that decision.
We went for Ice Cream afterwards.  Farr's Ice Cream Parlor is blessed by Temple goers.  We saw the cute Moffit family and were able to enjoy a short visit with them. Their oldest daughter is Jared's age and they grew up together.  Bailey is also going on mission in September to Riverside, California.  She was in the preschool picture with Jared that I posted the other day.

Tuesday

Celebrating Tonya

Tonight Tonya and I met to celebrate her birthday which was Sunday.  I usually go to Weber High, where she works on her birthday but since it was on Sunday we needed to make some plans.  Our lives our both so busy but we were able to make tonight work.  We met at LaFerrovia for dinner.  I was so excited all day....I love that place.

We took the little table behind the small divider so we could have our privacy.  We gabbed for hours and then decided to give our table up.  Our night didn't end though.  I jumped in Tonya's car and we went looking for a place that her mom had told her about.  We decided it was probably a cupcake store by the theaters.  We walked up and down Kiesel Ave just to see what was there.  Then we taked some more in her car.  The time flew.  I think we were together for over four hours but it sure didn't seem like it.  I sure do love my sister/friend.

Tonya has been such a great example and support to me my entire life.  Heavenly Father sure blessed us when he put us together.  I was the sister that Tonya never had.  She was better to me than the sister I was blessed with.  Don't take me wrong...my sister is awesome but her and my mom were best friends and so Tonya was mine.  We clicked from the start and have always got along really well.  She truly is a huge blessing in my life!  I love her with all my heart.  Tonya and her family are our family.  Our lives wouldn't be the same without the Coys.  I know they all feel the same way about us and that is pretty darn wonderful.

Monday

Graduation Day

This morning I took Jared to get his garmets so that he can go through the Temple on Wednesday.  We bought his baptism pants too.  We didn't get his ropes yet since he won't need them for a few years.  I like our time together even just driving.  We are able to talk and share things with each other without interruptions.  We went to Blue Lemon afterwards because I thought it would be fun to share a little lunch time too.

I was more than happy to iron Jared's rope.  I'm so happy he did everything needed to get to this point.  He had me nervous for a few weeks but he came through.  A while back, Jared asked me if he had to walk....YES...Oh Yes .... you have to walk!  You earned it and it's going to happen.  I bet he's glad he did now.  I love the picture of Jared jumping for joy.  Kimi pointed out that his shadow looks like a Wolf which is Fremont's mascot.  (pretty cool)
Jared had some great support.  Both of Larry's parents came to see him graduate as well as; Kimleighel, Kelsi and her kids, and Kevin, Julie and their kids. The kids were all really well behaved and it was nice that this group was able to come to show their support to Jared.  The graduation was at 4:00 and it was pretty much impossible for everyone to take off and get there.  We know that everyone cares even if they couldn't be there.  This is Larry's busiest week at work but he made it in time to see Jared walk.  I actually enjoyed this graduation.  The speakers were good and the music was great and even though the Principle took quite a bit of time I liked the things he said.
We parked on the road so we could get out quick.  I remember being stuck in the parking lot when Kimleighel graduated and avoided it this time.  Jared just wanted to have Big Bens from Burger Bar at our house afterwards. We had a few more of our kids join us there.  This sure is a fun time with lots of things and people to celebrate!
Jared's preschool teacher posted this picture from her very first year of teaching preschool.  Jared was 4 years old....now they are graduated.  Jared is in the orange coat.  What a cute, happy little guy.

Sunday

Seminary Graduation

Woot Woot!  Jared graduated from Seminary tonight!  I'm so glad that our kids have seminary.  Seminary is were they really learn a lot about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The teachers are usually the very best and are so good about getting points across.  The kids usually really enjoy Seminary and having a break from their day.  I know that the teachers put in a lot of time.  They have tail gate parties and different activities throughout the year to keep the kids busy in good things.

They had a nice banquet a week or so ago and they always give the kids a chance to share their testimonies with each other.  I love that.  I know Jared shared his at the banquet and it makes a difference in his attitude when he is in that atmosphere.  I'm happy that all my kids are now graduates of Seminary.  I love all the help we get in raising our kids.  I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Saturday

Twins Celebration

I love that Kevin and Julie go all out for their kids birthdays.  They invite all the family and their friends which include the kids daycare teachers.  This week was a great day for a party. The sun was shining compared to last week when the winds were strong and I think even rain.  They had their backyard set up so cute.  Their theme was a Mickey and Minnie one.  I loved the pictures of the twins on all the tables.
They even had a bounce house for all the other kids to enjoy.  It was a fun party.  The kids were running and laughing and having such a great time.  They served Hot Diggity Dogs and everyone brought sides to go with it.  Everything was yummy!
Kevin made the twins their cakes.  I'm so proud of him.  He made a few bigger cakes for everyone else to enjoy and they were so moist and delicious.  He even made one a checker board cake.  My son is talented.  I love that about him.  Coaching football and teaching Science during the day and baking cakes for his kids in the evening. ☺  The twins looked so cute in their darling outfits that Aunt Jen got them.  They are just seriously so dang cute.
The twins clothes came of and they were put at the end of a sheet to go after their cakes.  Briggs caught on and off he went.  Brynlie wasn't so sure and ended up being lifted to her cake.  Neither of the twins was very aggressive with their cakes and it was probably because they had just ate.  With a little help from Julie they dug in a little.  They got a little messy before they became uninterested. Julie and Natalie took them in to get bathed and cleaned up.
They enjoyed opening presents with mommy and daddy's help.  They are at a fun age even though they don't completely understand it all.  They do enjoy the attention.

I love family time like this.  I love how each family celebrates their littles.  I love being a part of it.  I'm so thankful for Brynlie and Briggs.  They are truly blessings to our family.  Oh they are loved so much.  I am so thankful.

Kamryn's Birthday Sleepover

Life kind of got away from us and it took this long to get a day to celebrate our cute Kamryn.  Kamryn is the one that started the birthday sleepovers and everyone is glad for them.  I got to pick Kam up after Robbies funeral and take her shopping.  She chose to go to Toys R Us.  We looked around at everything and some things twice. Then she mentioned that she might like some walkie talkies.  I hadn't seen them and so we asked for help.  They were with the electronics, a part of the store we hadn't looked.  She found some that would reach up to 17 miles and so we got them.

She plans on giving one to her little friend that lives behind her so they can talk at night.  She told me that they work really good.  After shopping we went to Cherry Berry.  It's a yummy, little, frozen yogurt place.  Kamryn got a big bowl and enjoyed every bite of it.  I enjoyed a small bowl.  We had a good time.

We made Hawaiian Haystacks for dinner because that is Kamryn's favorite.  We got out the air mattress and we set it up in the family room so we could watch movies.  We watched a few before going to sleep.  I really do enjoy spending one on one time with my grands.
Kamryn had a make up soccer game she had to go to Saturday morning.  She really didn't want to but did anyway.  We had talked her parents into letting her come back to my house for a few hours after the game.  I was glad I got to watch her play soccer since I haven't been to many games this season.  She plays hard and does a good job....she even scored.

We went to the store after and then to my house.  Kimi and I played games with Kamryn and had a fun time. Then Kamryn got to play on my Ipad while I made the salad for the twins party.  I needed to take her home so she could help get things ready for the big party.

I'm grateful for the time I had with my cute grand today.  I hope that these kids remember the fun we have and will always have good memories of coming to our house to celebrate their births!  We are so thankful for each and everyone of our grands.

Friday

Robbie Hunter

Robbie Hunter passed away a week ago.  I was so sad and shocked to hear of his passing.  Robbie was just a little guy when we started going to Lake Powell with the Hunter family.  We watched him grow up.  He was a great guy and today he was put to rest.  I adore the entire Hunter family.  They love us Ropelato's and we feel and know it.  I hope they feel and know that we love them too.

Angie is really struggling because Robbie was her go to guy.  They were close and Robbie has always been a wonderful big brother to Angie and a fantastic Uncle to her kids, especially Nicole. Nicole's dad died just after she was born and Robbie filled that empty spot.  He was a kind man.

Cody and his cute wife, Caralee, always make Larry and I feel like the perfect parents. (we're not but give our best effort)  They always compliment us and I know they look up to us.  They are great parents to their really cute boys.

TY approached me at the viewing and gave me the biggest hug ever.  I am pretty sure we all mean so much to each other.

I'm sad for the Hunter family but I am happy for Rob.  He was a good man.  He was a great son, brother, hubby and daddy. Rob helped a lot of people better their own lives.  He believed in others and made a difference.  Even though he has passed the things he taught others will be carried on.  Rob left a good legacy.

Celebrating Crystal

Well I was finally able to take Crystal out for her birthday that was May 3.  She had her daughters wedding that she was focusing on and so it's taken us this long. Actually this almost didn't happen.  We had made plans to get a pedicure and go to lunch and then her other daughter was suppose to have work off and was going to help Crystal with some things.  Crystal actually cancelled on me but called me this morning to see if I had made other plans.  Her daughter was called in to work.  I hadn't except that now I had a funeral that I hadn't planned on. (we thought that there was only going to be graveside services for Robbie)  We had time for a pedicure but had to make lunch quick.

We just went up to T Nails in Roy since it was closer to Ogden where the funeral was being held.  It was nice but I still really like 99 Nails in Syracuse best.  Crystal and I had a good time chatting and being pampered.  We really didn't have much time after our pedicures and so we just went next door to Panda Express and got lunch.  I kind of hurried through mine and didn't up leaving until 2:00 which is when the funeral was suppose to start.  Larry was saving me a place on the back row so I knew I would be okay.

I'm grateful for this friend of mine.  She saved me years ago.  I had gone through some hurtful things and didn't want to invest in friendships anymore.  I just didn't feel like putting forth the energy it takes to have good friends.  I still had plenty of good friends but I wasn't going out of my way to make more.  I was done for a minute.  Crystal changes that.  She invited me to go walking with her and actually wanted to spend more time with me.  We had been friends but because of her we started doing more together.  She brought me out of my funk and I appreciate her for that.

Crystal is such a fun, kind, thoughtful friend.  I consider her and her family...my family.  I love her!

Thursday

Thursday Happenings

I woke up and went to the store right off...even before showering.  I usually never leave before showering but I really needed new razors and wanted to use them.  I needed some ingredients for the salad and treats I needed to make for SNAP closing social.  I came home and made everything and then got ready for the day.
When Natalie text me that Mya had a concert I was thrilled that I could go.  Natalie picked me up and we drove together.  We got some good seats and enjoyed the cute program that the third grade put on.  Mya was excited for this concert.  You could tell that it was fun for her.  I really enjoy watching my grands as they grow and learn.

I had planned on going to Zaden's baseball game but it was cancelled because of the cold weather.  I was okay with that though because I was going to drag Carla with me and she isn't fond of the cold.  I did take Carla with me to Robbie Hunter's viewing.  She sat in the car and I ran in.  There was a long line and so I went right to where the family was and avoided the line.  Robbie passed away last week from a stroke or heart attack.  He was found on his bathroom floor.  He had told John and LaDawn that he wasn't feeling good when he left their house the night before he was found.   His wife was dressed in a U of U t-shirt and jeans.  That seemed so strange in that setting.  Robbie was also in his U of U gear including a hat. I can honestly say I've never seen anything like it.

We had our closing social at SNAP.  We just ate, because this group likes to eat.  I collected permission slips and handed out papers for camp.  A new gal came and is going to go to camp.  It's ok though because I had to plan on everyone being there because I couldn't get exact commitments until tonight.  I should have enough crafts and things for even the new gal.  I'm excited for camp but I will will relieved when it is over.

For not having anything really on the calendar, except the closing social it ended up being a busy day.  I've noticed that is how this entire month has been.  I didn't have much planned but a lot of things have sure happened.

Wednesday

A Relaxing Kind of Day

I loved being able to go to the Temple this morning.  I always enjoy starting my day off at the Temple.  It just gives me peace and fills me with love which is a fabulous way to start off the day and week.  The name I remember today was Precious.  It's fun and interesting hearing different names from past generations.

I promised Nicki that I would take her to Fiiz to get a drink since she has never been there before.  She texted me a few times during the week to make sure that I was still able to.  I think she'd like me to take her every week but I don't like being that committed and truth is....sometimes Nicki drives me batty.  She talks even more than me and that's a whole lot. ☺ She tells me things I prefer not knowing.  I care about her though and I know her life isn't easy and so I will show kindness and take her out every once in awhile.

Larry suggested we go to the movie.  He just doesn't want to be home for his dad to tell him what to do.  It's sad that our age we are still manipulated by our parents.  He's had enough for a minute and so I looked up some movies.  I chose The Fate of the Furious only because I thought it was a movie that Larry would like.  We had the entire theater to ourselves until the movie started, then two other people that we happened to know came in.  Their seats were right by ours.  I thought that was kind of funny.  It was fun getting out and relaxing with the family.  We did invite Kimleighel and Jared to join us.  It was nice to see Larry relax for a minute too.  I think he's trying to kill himself by working himself to death. (I'm not kidding)

Tuesday

Celebrating Crystal

The Hooper Honey's went to lunch at Applebee's today to celebrate Crystal's birthday.  Her birthday was the 3rd but she was busy with her daughters wedding and so we waited.  We missed Tammy, who is vacationing in England.  I wonder if she even thought of us? ☺  I think Kari must have been working or tending some cute grands and we missed her too.  Those that came had a good time.  Heck, we always do.  It was fun hearing Lorraine talk about her cute missionary and some of the very cool things that have happened to her.  Crystal told us all about the wedding and the things she learned.  Kellie shared her lesson for Relief Society about a cute rag doll that she made.  I wish I would have heard the whole lesson because it sounded fantastic.  I love these fun ladies and I'm glad our birthdays are coming around again because then we make time to get together.

I loved running some errands with Crystal and getting to visit with her more.  She drove me today because I was going to drive Madi's car home from getting a repair.  The repair took a little longer than planned.  It was fun though spending a little extra time together.  I really enjoyed it.  I get to take Crystal out on Friday so that the two of us can celebrate her.  I love spending time with my awesome friends.

Kellie gave us all homemade fudge today because she is so awesome.  Then when I text her to thank her she told me that she really wanted to help with Jared's farewell.  Her and Lorraine have both offered but I really haven't thought much of it.  I should though because it's approaching soon.  I  got a little teary eyed and accepted her offer.  I'm trying to be better at receiving.  I have the best friends!

Monday

my hand

Looky....Looky....after years of peeling, cracking, itching and scratching, my hand is pretty much back to normal.  It still itches occasionally and when it does I put coconut oil or the medicine on it...depending on how bad it is.  I'm thrilled that for the most part it has healed. I'm still not sure what it was all about but I believe it was stress of things I have no control over.  I still get stressed over those kind of things but hopefully can release the stress another way.  I just wanted to document this because it seemed forever.

Sunday

Mother's Day

I am one who loves Mother's Day!  I don't even get it when I hear that others don't love it.  I guess I have always only focused on the positive things about Mother's Day.  It's a celebration of all that women do.  I know for certain it was not meant to be a day to feel guilty or inadequate. I believe we all do our best and that our best is enough.  I enjoyed mother's day before I was ever a mom.  I have always loved celebrating all mother's....and we all have them.  Mother's day did change for me when I became a mom.  Being a mom was always my biggest dream.  I loved playing with my baby dolls from the time I could walk.  I always dreamed of having my own children and loving them so much.  I was blessed to have that dream come true.....seven times even!  I adore my children.  I have been the best mom that I knew how to be to each of them.  Each one of my children have enriched my life like only they could.

Today we went to Braxton's church again because he was speaking.  I loved the look on Sadie's face when she saw us at her church.  Her mouth was opened and grinning with such a look of happy surprise.  I loved Braxton's talk and poem that he wrote.  His poem was about Ninja moms and made me smile.  His talk compared women to Christ.  It sure made me feel so grateful that I am a women and a mother.

We had pizza and pop at our house.  Our kids came and celebrated with us.  Kevin and Julie chose to enjoy their day at home since it was the twins birthday.  I just loved being together.  I love carrying on the pizza tradition that Larry's mom started many years ago.  Being together is my favorite.

The Twins are 1

Taken From Julie's Face Book post: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY Briggs & Brynlie!!! These guys have had quite the first year of life. We've had life flight, ambulance transfer, 17 days in the NICU, 5 days total at Primary Children's Hospital, 12 days total at McKay Dee's Pediatric Unit, 7 ER visits, a seizure, oxygen at home, steroids, continuous suctioning and breathing treatments, and constant doctor's appointments. These kids get sick over any little germ since November. Even though it gets exhausting having two passing things back and forth, we are so grateful that they are overall healthy and will grow out of it! These kids are seriously so happy, despite the things they've had to overcome. Briggs is super busy! He loves climbing up & down the stairs. He's so close to walking. But for now he just crawls around the house looking for his next adventure. His feet are so ticklish that he doesn't care for the grass or sand yet. Brynlie is super social! She's content hanging out with people, and doesn't need toys to distract her. She's always yelling and talking loud to make sure everyone can hear her. She's pulling herself up on everything now and crawling around, trying to keep up with Briggs. We don't know what we'd do without the twins in our lives!!! They make our family complete."

What a blessing these two littles are to our family.  They are so dang cute and if they feel well they are usually smiling.  They sure bring lots of joy to each of us.  I have enjoyed watching them grow up.  They have had so many miracles and blessings in their short little lives so far.  They have such good parents that just take such wonderful care of them.  They are adored by everyone.  I can't believe it's been a year.

Saturday

The Business Continues

Braxton is helping Larry with a sprinkler project for a friend that lost her hubby and so he brought his cuties over for me to watch while they did that.  Sadie is so cute and has such a fun personality.  She's so full of life and is such a happy little girl.  Jack is as sweet as he can be.  He coo's and even smiles.  We snuggled before he fell asleep and it was nice just holding him.  I was glad that I was her because I originally was going to take Tonya her pampered chef.

Our duck is gone but all the eggs didn't hatch. I hope that a few did and that the mommy duck has a few babies after all her devotion to those eggs.  I enjoyed checking on her whenever I came or went.  The kids found another nest on the playground of smaller bird eggs.  The momma bird chased the kids if they got too close.

I traded Jared cars today because he was suppose to have a date.  The date was cancelled but not before I had to leave to meet Barbie to go to Heber Valley Girls camp.  When I got in Jared's truck I saw the assignment for English that he was positive he turned in. (crazy eyes)  He had it right there so he wouldn't forget.  His truck was clean other than that paper.

I was glad we went to Heber to check out the camp again.  Dale (our cook) and Barbie's hubby came too so they would know what to expect.  It's going to be so much fun!
As soon as I got home we went to with our mom's a Happy Mother's Day.  We figured it would be easier to get them on Saturday than Sunday.  This year I got our mom's Minky Blankets.  They are so soft and cozy.  I decided I needed one too.  I love soft blankets! They both seemed to love them.  Larry's mom had bought Clark one last year for Father's Day and so she knew how nice they were.  My mom just thought it was a nice blanket so I filled her in a little about them.  I don't want her giving it away.

While I was gone to Heber, Larry went to the store and had everything bought for tomorrow.  Bless his heart!  I'm thankful for him.  He also went and visited John and LaDawn Hunter who just lost their son yesterday.  He was found on his bathroom floor.  So sad!  I'm so glad for the fun memories we have with the Hunters.

Friday

Sister Wright's Wedding

Johnny and Julia were sealed today for time and all eternity.  Larry and I were invited to share their special day with them.  While Julia was waiting for her visa so that she could serve in Brazil, she was assigned to Hooper.  She wasn't here long but we were able to enjoy her while she was here.  We had no idea that we had made such an impact on her until she gave us a call after her mission.  She brought Johnny to meet us.  Our hearts were touched and she became even more dear to us.

These two are so cute together.  They met in a dance class at BYU before Julia's mission.  I think they knew from the beginning that they would be together.  I remember Julia speaking of Johnny and just beaming.  It think it's wonderful that everything worked out for them.

We took Shelly Eskelson with us to the Temple and the luncheon at Johnny's parents home.  We were flattered to be a part of it.  Shelly didn't want to stay for the reception because she had a lot that she needed to do and so Larry and I ran her home and went back to SLC.  We made a day of it.  We went to the Spaghetti Factor for dinner and then to the reception.  I know Larry really likes these two because this is so not normal for him.  He doesn't usually like to stay for pictures or luncheon's.  We did it all.

We stopped by the Winters home on our way back to Hooper.  We had a really nice visit with Sue while we waited for Alan to get home.  It was getting late when he did make it home so we just visited for a short time and left.  I sure miss our good friends.   I think it's time to plan a vacation with them.

and then this happens

So yesterday Jared finally turned in his English assignments and will be graduating. (his teacher emailed me because she knew I was anxious) Woot Woot....Happy Dance! Relief! Then today he brings home an award for his excellence in his 3D printing class.  He even earned a rope to wear at graduation. I can't believe the contrast in the days this week.  These last few weeks have been a roller coaster ride and in the end I can say whew...glad that it's all over.

I love that Jared does have passion for some classes.  I'm pretty sure he will have that kind of passion on his mission. (I hope)  One day when I was talking to him, I reminded him that he would be studying for hours on his mission and his reply to me was: "I understand and love the gospel."  That statement right there was very comforting to me.  I might not get much information from him in letters but I really believe he will enjoy the work he's headed for.  I think he will be a great missionary.

I'm so glad this chapter of life is almost over.  No more kids in school is going to be nice.  College...if chosen will be different....my kids do that because they choose it.  They also pay for it which is a huge incentive to do their best.

Thursday

City Creek

I met Pam and Lisa today at City Creek. Pam brought her cute daughter who made me laugh out loud a lot. ☺ We tried getting together in February and then again in March and things came up on their end and so today it happened. I felt bad that Kathy and Jodi couldn't make it but I knew I needed this today and it's hard finding time where schedules all match up. I needed some positive, fun and good friends today.  Pam made up treat bags for us to share.  I started the treat thing a few years back and it's fun.  It's really not in any of our comfort zones and that's what makes it even better.  We share the treat bags with random strangers to brighten their day.  In the process of brightening their day it also brightens mine.  Chatting and laughing while enjoying some yummy lunch is great therapy.  I know I've said it many times but Life is Better with Friends!  I need them in my life. My friends encourage me to be better, they accept me unconditionally.  I can completely be myself and that is a refreshing thing.

A few bad moments...but no bad days

I'm going to be super real.  Not every moment of everyday is wonderful or going to be wonderful.  A positive thought isn't going to change all things.  Others choices will affect you even when you try really hard not to let them.  We're human and it's going to happen.  There are lessons in absolutely everything and the challenging or fun part is finding them and letting them strengthen you.  The other day I had someone ask me how I was.  I told them if they wanted to know the truth then they should probably ask me in a few weeks.  This week I'm happy, I'm sad, I'm frustrated, I'm wonderful, I'm ticked, I'm blessed.....I'm up and down and all over the place.  So here's what's happening in my happy little life.

About 3 weeks ago, Jared casually informed me that he wasn't attending English because of track.  Red flags popped up immediately waving frantically in my face.  What the heck!  What do you mean you aren't going....like at all?  Then I asked what his grade was and was told that he was failing.  Now at this point I wasn't even worried about his grades because his last report was awesome and the best he's ever done.  I remember thinking, whew....we've made it...no more worrying.  WRONG!!!!  We talked about the work he's missing and I immediately became his advocate.  I love my son and so that's what you do right?  I emailed his teacher to let her know I had just become aware of my sons struggle.  His teacher called me back and we talked.  She told me how Jared had shut down.  It's true, I saw it too.  We discussed a few things that Jared could do so that he could pass her class....he doesn't have much time.  I talked to Jared and his attitude was super stinky.  He has put up some pretty strong walls and isn't willing to budge.  I have encouraged and even sat with him as he finished a few assignments.  The assignments he got finished didn't make it to the teacher.  Jared swears he stabled his notes to the paper he typed and put them in her box but he hasn't received one point of credit for it. The other assignment required talking to the teacher in person while he presented his power-point to her.  He refused to talk to her about it.  Let me just say when someone makes up their mind NOT to do something there is really nothing another person can do to change that.  I dug a little deeper and got his track coach involved.  I asked him to please encourage Jared and he promised to work his "magic" on him.  But....guess what?  Nothing was helping to motivate my son to do the simple things the teacher was asking.  He just wouldn't.
Jared has passion and when he enjoys something he puts his whole heart into it but he's as stubborn or maybe more stubborn than a mule when he doesn't want to do something.  Right now he's being a crazy mule.  I've been trying to stay positive but not far from the surface I'm super afraid that Jared won't choose to do his work.  I keep encouraging and bargaining with him but have gained little ground.  He's so caught up on the fact that he knows he has done the work and turned it in.  I am having a hard time getting him to see that, yes, that might be true but the point is that he hasn't gotten credit for it and so it needs to be redone. Jared's teacher is giving him a second chance and is willing to still give him credit if he will just redo a few assignments.  It frustrates him and I get that but this is simple stuff and I am willing to help him with it.  Failing and having to postpone his mission and pay for and do a packet would not be simple.  Jared's stubbornness and pride are dominating and winning at this point. I've pointed out that those qualities are not from Christ but from Satan.  My patience and control of my mouth are weak at this point. (also not qualities of Christ)  I have cussed more this last week that probably the last few years. (I seldom cuss)  Most of my cussing is said to just myself but a few people that have had listening ears have got to hear it and for that I do feel a bit bad.  However, those that I have shared with love me unconditionally and that is why I even shared, so I know they won't hold it against me.  I haven't cussed at Jared...only when I have expressed my frustration...I call it adding emphasis...not right I know but it happened.
Yesterday I broke!  I hit a wall and lost it!  I had just helped Jared with one assignment of vocabulary and was giving it to him to finish.  He was resisting me so bad that my inner child jumped right out. I threw the paper and pencil on the floor and very loudly told him, I was done!  Then like a strong, little child I slammed my door.  It felt so good I went into my bathroom and slammed that door too.  Releasing some of my anger felt so good that I opened a few drawers and slammed them. Then I got in the shower and whipped the shower curtain so hard that I had to pull it back the other way again to cover the tub.  Then I turned on the water and cried.  While my tears joined the water falling all over me I prayed. I was feeling so guilty for losing control.  The image of Christ turning the tables in the Temple came to my mind and I was comforted a little.  I wasn't being mean...I was just being real...and frustration is real.

Jared left while I was in the shower and text me a few times.  We had an appointment to get his passport for his mission.  He said he was sorry.  I text him to come home since his appointment wasn't for an hour.  We went for his passport but I refused to have it expedited.  I figured at this point if he does make it on his mission they can wait for me to send his passport before assigning him to serve in Canada. (I was excited when he was called to serve in Alaska figuring we didn't need to get a passport....I read that part a week ago)  The very cute clerk that was helping us was so bright and cheery.  She was a gift from God for me today.  I couldn't help but feel a little better by just looking at her.  She seriously added sunshine to my gloomy morning.
The day continued but I didn't allow myself to completely drown in my fears.  I only allow moments of my day to be cruddy.  I bounced out of my yucky space and got some things done.  My cute daughter called and was the answer to my earlier prayer.  I needed to talk to someone besides myself and her insight and advice is always on target.  What a blessing she was for me.  God knew she could handle what I had to say!  I enjoyed grand babies today and they always add joy to my day. (little Miss Macie got her tonsils out and Trichelle delivered fund raiser drinks we'd ordered.)  I made dinner and added to the pile of dishes in the sink. Jared has dishes this week and he's not doing them either.  grrrrr.... One of my bribes was that if he would go talk to his teacher I would do the dishes for him. He didn't so neither did I.  (I'm not a fan of dirty dishes) I hosted our ward Book Club at my house and that was fun and light.  I love just being with good women discussing good things. I enjoy this book club.

While I was having book club, Jared was attending a banquet put on by the seminary.  He had to dress up to attend and they had a testimony meeting afterwards and Jared shared his testimony.  Jared does have a testimony of the Gospel and he loves it.  I'm so happy about that!  That matters more to me than his grades but at this point getting his diploma matters to me too.  He came home in a good mood and Larry had bought treats so we could all party together and get his assignments done.  I was the one being resistant at this point.  I said I was done and I meant it.  I'm not as stubborn as Jared though and within minutes I was also reading poems out loud with Larry and Jared. It felt good to swallow the pride I had claimed earlier.  Swallowing my pride caused the heaviness to leave and I was able to feel some light.  We worked together until after midnight. (we started late)  Now the hope is that Jared will hand his teacher his assignments and get the credit for them that he needs to pass.  I asked him to send me a picture of him handing her them but I'm pretty sure that won't happen.  I'm just praying super hard that he does his part and makes sure they get in his teachers hands.  Larry and I both took pictures of his work but Jared needs to be accountable and turn them in.  I know that is what his teacher is waiting for. Oh...and Jared did the dishes! ☺

Life is full of surprises.  Some are wonderful and usually enjoyed but some are devastating and hurt your heart.  But no matter what, there are lessons to be learned.  I know that no matter what happens life will go on.  I will always love my son.  We will support one another and make fun memories together.  We will accept and carry on.  We will smile and be happy even when things don't go quite how we want them to.  We will always continue to learn and strengthen ourselves and our lives.  God will carry us when needed and always bless us.  Those things I know for sure!
