Our group took a little field trip to Chesterfield today. It's past Lava about 25 minutes. It's a place that some pioneers settled. It's a pretty little community with lots of green grass and rolling hills. It's been restored and people are allowed to go and tour the buildings through the summer.
I love all the antiques. It was really interesting to look around each place and listen to the cool stories that the volunteer had to share with us.We were able to go into the school house, the general store, a few homes, the church or meeting house and the tithing house.
It was a beautiful day and a really fun field trip. I'm so thankful that I live now and have all the luxuries and conveniences we do. I admire the pioneers and all they endured. I'm sure they felt very blessed too.
I'm glad I don't have to make dinner on a little wood burning stove, or haul water from outside, or wash the laundry by hand. I'm really glad I don't have to put linseed oil on my floors four times a week to keep the critters out.
It was a really enjoyable field trip. We enjoyed a yummy lunch in the basement of one of the buildings. It was really cold inside and outside by the time we were finishing. I'm thankful for the pioneers and all they did. They were such faithful people and hard working. I like how God placed them all over. They had to have been inspired to even find Chesterfield. The Oregon Trail went through Chesterfield and maybe that's why they went back to settle there. Very Interesting Day!
