My Girls Are Sweet

Today Kimi and I stopped by Trichelle's for a quick minute.  I told Trichelle about my cruddy day yesterday and we had a little discussion about it.  We decided that sometimes it's okay to have a yucky day and even wallow in it for a bit as long as we don't stay there.  Sometimes a bad day just helps you realize how good all the others are.  Sometimes a good cry refreshes your soul.  Yes, it's okay to claim a bad day every now and then.  Kimi and I sent and got Trichelle and her family some lunch and when we brought it back to them Trichelle invited me to dinner.  Of course I accepted....I don't like turning my kids down.  She later text me and told me she wanted to take me out because I of my yucky day yesterday.  She also let me know that TJ had really suggested it because he's just a thoughtful guy.  I was thrilled for any reason and I invited Kimi to come with because Trichelle said I could.  I wanted Kimi to come because she always has my back and is always saying nice things to me.  I ate light and felt good afterwards.  I love my girls and I'm thankful for the love that they show their mommy.

Possibly My Worst Day of the Year

I don't like to complain but I do like to be real.  I use to have more days like the one today but seriously I can't remember them.  Changing my attitude and focusing on the positive things in life has been magical and most every single day is wonderful.  Today I had a harder time convincing myself there was a lot of good going on.

I woke up with a gut ache.  I'm not sure if it was related to stress but I was thinking so.  I worry...it's the human thing to do.  A few of our family members have been sick and it concerns me.  I worry about my kids and the things going on or not going on in their lives.  I pray with all my heart and soul to understand and trust in God and His will.  I'm usually good at it. Today I struggled, and complained and expressed all my negative thoughts. (never about God's plan...I do totally trust Him)

On the way to bowling I unloaded on Carla.  She listened and said she was glad I could unload since she did a little the other night at dinner.  I'm glad I can trust my friends with all my concerns.  The one good thing that happened from being up tight and stressed and having a woozy tummy is that I bowled really good the first game.  As I loosened up my bowling went down.  By the third game I was barely getting the ball to the pins.  I was in the potty room a lot.  My tummy did not let up.  I was a bit miserable.
I came home and went to bed.  I knew I needed to get up and go get Parker a balloon.  I promised him that I would after his popped last night.  It popped because he let it go in the fan and watched it twirl around getting tighter and tighter on the blade until it started losing air.  I think that's funny and probably very fascinating to a child.  I retold Natalie the things bugging me and she listened.  All my kids are good listeners. I bet my grands were glad when I left.  My tummy hurt the rest of the night and I could feel my body was tense.

Larry slept out in the living room just in case I was contagious.  I'm not going to lie...having the bed to myself was another good thing that happened today. I wouldn't enjoy sleeping alone all the time but tonight it was good.  I had my space and sometimes I just need it.

I think about my worst day and have to laugh out loud.  Today really wasn't that bad but when you get use to wonderful days it seemed like it was.  I know that stressing and worrying about things doesn't help anything.  I also know that things always work out in the long run.  For days like today its important to remember to "Breathe"....Big, Deep Breaths.

Wednesday

It's Larry's Birthday

It's Larry's birthday! Larry is my Favorite!  I'm so glad he was born and that we found each other and decided to experience life together!  We've learned a lot over the years.  We've had a lot of fun and made it over and through some "rough" times.  Larry is adventurous and I can honestly say that we have enjoyed our adventure.  Larry makes me smile.  He is so kind and cares about others and is always doing things to make others lives better.  Larry is a giver and had given the jacket he was wearing to someone that needed it more.  He's just that way.  What an example of Christlike love. Larry is gentle and kind.  He is also a great big tease.  Sometimes he might tease the wrong people and tick them off but that is never his intent.  He is sensitive to others feelings and has a sensitive soul himself.  Larry is a hard worker and gets things done.  It usually takes him longer than he tells the kids and maybe that's on purpose...but maybe it's not.  He has a heart of God and it belongs to me!  I adore this cute guy that I said "yes" to.  I'm so glad that he is mine and I am his!

We prefer having the kids over for dinner instead of going out.  It's just another good reason to spend time with our kids.  Larry picked up pasta and chicken from LaFerovia and then came home and made caprese.   I picked up balloons but only because Larry had reminded me.  I made sure there were enough for each of the grands to take one home.  I brought in the clowns and we were ready for the kids to come.
The food was yummy and there was just enough for the guys to take some to work for lunch tomorrow.  The kids played together which is always a delight for me to see.  They truly love each other.  The little ones are even getting better at interacting with each other.  Oh my word...how I love them all.
When we took the picture of grandpa and the grands we didn't get Brynlie or Briggs in it.  Brynlie was asleep in her car seat still and Briggs was in the hospital.
(this picture was taken on Monday)
Our poor little guy got RSV that turned into pneumonia.  He struggled breathing and had a lot of mucus.  When Kevin and Julie noticed his oxygen levels dropping (on Tuesday) they took him to the doctor and was admitted to the hospital.  He's had a bad cough and so I was glad that he was getting some help.
(I took these pictures today after going to the Temple)  Briggs was doing much better but still spent a few more nights in the hospital.

Temple, Hospital and Mom's

I couldn't wait to get to the Temple today.  I had several names I wanted to add to the prayer rolls.  I added Briggs twice. ☺  The temple was beautiful.  The big picture was when I got there. The little one in the corner was when I came out.  It's always beautiful.  I love our Temple.  I always feel good for getting up and going to the Temple.  I think it's a good way to start the day.

I went to the Hospital after leaving the hospital.  I just wanted to see Briggs and how he was doing.  I had experiences a little anxiety the night before and just needed to check on him.  Julie was just getting through feeding him.  He smiled and coo'd and acted like his cute self.  I could still hear his congestion and could see that his breathing was labored but it was a relief to see him.  I watched him get his bath and be checked over.  His nose got cleaned out and he did not like that at all.  I spent a few hours with Briggs and Julie but when Julie laid Briggs down to rest I decided to leave so Julie could hopefully get some rest too.
I went to my mom's after the hospital to return a pan I had of hers. We visited and while I was there some guys came by that Larry had sent. We are having railings put on both her porches to help her from falling.

Trichelle and the kids came over since they didn't make it Christmas day.  I stayed and visited with them all and left a little before Trichelle did.  I learned that after I left that my mom told Trichelle she liked her being a little "fluffy".  My mom must need glasses because Trichelle isn't fluffy anywhere.  Why does she say things like that?  My girls are both so slender...even skinny.  Oh well...Trichelle said it really didn't bother her like it might have a few months ago.  My mom is a nice person and has a bunch of wonderful qualities but sometimes I just don't get her at all!

Monday

White Christmas

We got our White Christmas and I think it is absolutely Beautiful!  I love seeing the snow cling to the branches on the trees and cover the ground.

Playing with some Apps

I found a funny app this morning.  I had just woke up and was still in my jammies when I played around with it.  It made me laugh.

Sunday

Merry Christmas

I think I can honestly say that this has been the very Best Christmas ever!  In my books it was pretty perfect...even with a few sick kids and an ornament that said Christmas in Mexico instead of Hawaii.  Everything just felt right this year.  I never felt stressed or pressured to get things done.  Everything just fell into place.  We enjoyed so much this month as we prepared for this day.  Usually Christmas day is a let down and disappointing to me.  I think because everything that we've been focusing on is over.  I didn't feel that way this year.  I love that Christmas was on Sunday.  I think that's my favorite day to celebrate it on.  Even though Christmas has come I plan on continuing to think and do for others and maybe that is the difference.  I've decided to treat every day like Christmas as the Code of Elfs have taught. (from Elf)
We got up early and got ready for church and then we went into the front room to open the few presents under the tree.  Jaydan, Kimleighel and Jared all had 2 presents to open...oh and their ornaments.  They each got their favorite cereal.  Jared and Jaydan got a swim suit and Kimleighel got a mermaid blanket with a note that said they were going to Hawaii in February.  They were all pretty excited and happy with their gift.  I'm excited to take them.  I noticed a few extra presents under the tree that had Larry and my names on them.  Jaydan got Larry a Tigers hoodie and me some Mickey & Minnie pajama's.  I think he heard that Larry and I were going to Disneyland. (our gift to each other)
Kevin and Julie invited us over to watch their kids open their presents and to have breakfast with them.  They also invite Julie's family.  I love being invited and seeing the excitement, joy and magic children experience. When Julie went to wake up Jordyn, I was in getting Brynlie and Jordyn saw me.  Julie told her that Santa had came and she said "and Gramma Dawn"? It made us smile...I love being a gramma!

A trampoline was set up in their game room where the Christmas tree was.  Santa had left the stockings and a few toys on top of it.  The girls were so excited.  They got scooters, socks and movies. The twins got another wagon with a cover and car seats.  They also found out their family is going to Disneyland.  It was fun being a part of the magic.
We hurried over to Trichelle's to see what Santa had left them.  Santa indeed found them and left some fun things. Ivy got a phone, kayak and long board.  Zaden got a big wheel, kayak and an Xbox. (he'd asked Santa for one the last three years)  Behr got a cute truck that he loved and some cool tools.  They were all pretty darn happy.  Zaden told grandpa that dreams really do come true. It's fun watching the parents as well.  I love seeing their love for their kids.

We went back to Julie and Kevin's for breakfast and then was off to Church.  I loved our program today.  The Bishopric shared some thoughts about Christ and the Ward Choir sang in between their thoughts.  The snow was falling and everything was perfect.  We got a White Christmas again.
We waited a little while for Justin's church to get over and then we went and visited his family.  Poor little Macie was sick and had been throwing up. She was so sweet though and just snuggled with her mommy.  Larry fell asleep for awhile and we played games with them.  We played Twister and Headband.  We laughed a lot and had a great time.  I was playing twister and slowly got pushed over.  It was like a domino affect and when I fell even though it wasn't hard my knee landed on Mya's foot.  That's the worst part of me that could have hit her.  I was afraid that I might have broke her foot but she recovered quickly which I was thankful for.  Twister is harder than I remember it being. (haha...my body doesn't move like it use to)  We needed to leave and run home because we hadn't brought any of our parents gifts.
Braxton and Kelsi enjoyed Christmas in Jerome with Kelsi's family.  It looks like Santa found them.
We went to my moms and Susan, Shellie and Haley got there about the same time.  My guys shoveled my mom's driveway and walks before they came in.  We had a good time visiting with each other.  After everyone was filled up my mom handed out gifts.  It wasn't as crazy without my grands there.  (Braxton's family is in Jerome, Trichelle's kids were with their dads, and Justin and Kevin had sick kids....Macie and Briggs)  My mom handed all of my family cards that I helped her make with money in them.  The great grands got books and a few gifts but I must not have paid too close of attention because I can't remember.  It was nice with less confusion than most years.  I like confusion though on Christmas if it means having everyone together.

We visited for a few hours and then went to Larry's parents.  I love that we visit our parents on Christmas.  That has always been a tradition for us and even if my kids don't want to keep it up I would feel bad if we didn't do it.  When our parents go there will be a void on this day for me.  My kids are making their own traditions and I'm happy with whatever they choose as long as we keep getting together sometime.

We went home and just enjoyed the tree and being together.  I even had a little cat nap before Tonya and Mark stopped by.  It really was a perfect day.

Saturday

Christmas Eve

Today is Christmas Eve and cleaned out the garage.  I was trying to catch up my blog but ended up in the garage with Larry and the kids.  We threw away a bunch of stuff.  We had about 4 truck loads to get rid of.  I'm in the mood to simply and get rid of unused things.  Larry makes it happen faster and I know why.  He just piles it all up and dumps it in the field.  I go through things when I downsize and throw it away or DI it.  You can only do so much doing it like me because there is only so much room in the garbage can or vehicle.  Getting things cleaned up a bit sure refreshes the soul.  I had cleaned my room the day or so before and man it's nice.  Cleanliness and order really is good for the soul.  I need to go through more.

Our reward was dinner at Laferrovia.  We knew they were open and had decided that we would go there anyway.  I took them a few caramel apples that I had made for them.  The owners are just such good people and have become dear friends.  We noticed that there was something going on outside and was told that Kokomo's was feeding the homeless and have been for years.  They were cooking right outside and I was touched by their thoughtfulness.  I was touched again when Tim, our waiter came and wished us a Merry Christmas instead of bringing us a bill for our meal.  I got tears in my eyes. Josephina (not sure the spelling) came out and told us that our meal was on them.  I got more tears and told her that we wanted to support them today but she insisted.  What good people!  I'm going to take care of people's meals this next year.  I know that I will have enough to do so and I want to make others as happy as we were.

Friday

Family Christmas Party

One of my very favorite family traditions is our family Christmas Party.  When the kids were all small we always gathered on Christmas Eve and talked about Jesus and his birth.  Now we do that more throughout the month.  I think we will add the Nativity to our party next year though.  We have a good time.  We eat together but not the same thing every year.  I use to try to make a nice dinner but now everyone brings something and this year we kept it simple.  We had hamburgers.  We had to keep things moving along though because Zaden's dad was picking him up.
We had Zaden open his gifts first.  Since Parker was getting the same thing he got to join Zaden.  I bet Zaden loved getting to go first and he just finished when his daddy came. Trichelle has already requested when we should have our family party next year so that her kids can be here the whole time.  It's scheduled for Wednesday, December 20, 2017.  It's on the calendar.  We've learned that it's necessary to be flexible with some traditions.  We still have a family party but it's not always on the same day.  I'm okay with that especially if we can plan it for a year a head.
The grands exchange gifts. They draw names at Thanksgiving to see who they get.  I love watching them exchange.  It's so fun because they love giving to each other.  It was fun watching the little ones get into opening their gifts.  Behr loved it this year and was such a helper throwing away the wrapping paper. Even the twins seemed to enjoy it.  Everyone was happy with their gifts.  These kids are just grateful and appreciate everything.  I thought I knew my grands and their favorite colors but when the girls opened their mermaid blankets I learned I was wrong.  I had Kam and Mya's favorite colors mixed up.  I could tell by their faces and when I mentioned it they quickly traded and were both happy as could be.

My kids rotate on who they buy for.  I always enjoy seeing what they choose for each other.  They are very thoughtful.  It's just a lot of fun for me and them.  One tradition I started with my kids is that they each get their own box of cereal for Christmas.  It was an inexpensive way to get them one more gift to open and they always enjoyed it.  Now the grands get a box of cereal.  I thought it was funny this year when we got a  homemade card from Kamryn as part of our gift thanking us for everything and specifically said her cereal.  I remember after Kevin got married when he asked if he was still going to get cereal.  I end it for my kids when they marry but continue it with the grands and those still unmarried. I've had a few friends hear of us doing that and have added it to their traditions...which makes me smile.
I love my house being filled with our cute family.  I love the commotion and joyful noise that accompanies them.  My heart if filled with gratitude and love for each individual.  It's such a fun journey.  This year I talked to a few family members about adding to our family party.  There have been times that we have played games, or decorated cookies and I was wondering if we should do those things again.  But when it comes right down to it, I notice that what everyone really loves is just being together.  They will stop and do extra things but seriously I think just visiting and being together is their favorite thing.
Our neighbors were doing a live Nativity and I was so excited.  I love talking about the Nativity and seeing it acted out.  I really thought it would be fun for our family to go and watch it.  I know a few were on board when I first mentioned it but when it came time to go everyone was too content just doing what they were doing.  I was hoping just one person would say they really wanted to go with me but I only had one say they were good either way.  I seriously considered just going by myself and figured no one would even know I had but then I just thought I should stay home and enjoy my family.  I'm hoping that next year they will do it again and that I will be able to go.
(their pictures of the Nativity)

I must say though that this year I have been able to do most of the things I had wanted to.  I have really enjoyed this Holiday Season.  I have met with friends and we have had our parties with our families.  I have enjoyed the wonderful Christmas music and lights.  It's been a perfect season of celebrating.  I even did a few things for strangers and decided that I will continue those things throughout the year.  I get a good feeling when I am nice to others. haha ☺

Thursday

So Much Always Happening

I went bowling today and I must say .... I have the "deerest" friends.  They are a lot of fun to bowl with and they are all just great friends.  We were #1 when we started but I bet we lost that spot by the end of the day.  We only won our first game.  It's fun though and worrying about what place we are makes it too stressful for me and takes the fun out of it.

After bowling I helped Carla make caramel apples for her neighbors.  She was thrilled with how they turned out.  I was going to get a pedicure but decided that could wait for another day.
Trichelle closed on her house today and needed to finish up some shopping and so she brought the kids over to play.  Trichelle and TJ actually went and made an offer on another home in South Ogden while they were out and about.  They are making goals and making them happen.
Larry stayed after work and helped Justin on a trailer that is going to Colorado.  I took Zaden with me to the Christmas Program that Hal and Joyce Stoddard put on.  Tonight one of the Sealers from the temple was suppose to talk but he was too sick and so another guy that Hal knows from the Temple shared some things instead.  I did see Brother Ballif and Brother & Sister Peterson there though and it was fun seeing them outside of the Temple.  I've grown to love those people and I think they feel the same way about us.

Since we have moved to Hooper I have heard about the Organ in the Stoddard barn but tonight was the first time I have seen and heard it.  There were pipes all the way around the barn and so it was like surround sound.  It's an air pipe organ and ran by air.  The barn was warm and cozy and needs to remain at the same temperature year round.  Hal and Joyce have lots of pictures all around and so there was plenty to look at.  Zaden enjoyed the program and the music.  We sang some Christmas songs at one point and I asked Zaden if he knew those songs and his reply was "I'm more of a game boy."  I let him know it would be okay to love many things.  It was fun having a night out with Zaden.  When I took him home I got to listen to Trichelle and TJ share their excitement of everything....they are so focused right now.  (I love it)

Wednesday

Wonderful Wednesday

I went to the Temple...and I love it!  I love getting up and starting my day off at the Temple.  I think I will do it more often in 2017.  It just makes me feel so wonderful.  Today there were people with the last name of Saint Bernard....that made me smile.  The hour went really fast and we were in the same sealing room that I was sealed to my parents.  We were in that room last week too and I think it's because the sun isn't bright and shiny this time of year so the patrons don't get blinded by it.  I'm so thankful that we have temples so close...I love being there.

I took Carla to lunch for her birthday.  We went to the Olive Garden. She wasn't sure she really wanted to go because she's the type of gal that thinks once the day is over it's over.  I think having a birthday in December would be harder.  I'm glad mine is in the summer and can be celebrated all month and into the next. ☺ We went to a few stores afterwards so Carla could get more supplies to make more caramel apples. A lady looked at me and told me I was pretty as we were walking by her...then she told Carla too.  Carla   text me later saying that the apples her and Roger made didn't quite turn out like the ones we did at our party...oh well...they'll taste wonderful!

Kimi had invited our family to the movies tonight and we were all able to go.  She invited Trichelle and Zaden too and since Trichelle sold her house she decided to treat everyone as a Thank You.  Trichelle didn't even end up coming to the show (we saw Sing) because she had been sick and was tired.  TJ brought Zaden instead.  It was a cute show and the music was fun.  I was dancing in my seat a lot.  I loved that we had time to go to a show.  This month as been busy but not stressful.  We have a lot going on and if we make it great but if we can't that's okay too.  If we wouldn't have gone to the show we would have gone to the ward Larry is over and enjoyed their "light walk".  They had paper bags lining the walking path that each family helped decorate.  We drove past it and it was cool looking.

I love having neighbors and friends stop by this time of year.  Last night we Pat stopped by and we went to a few neighbors to deliver gifts too.  Tonight LaDawn came over.  I really enjoy these little visits. I'm so thankful for lasting friendships.  Life is Good!

Monday

Ropelato Family Christmas Party

We had our Ropelato Family Christmas Party tonight.  I love that we still get together with Larry's parents and siblings and their families.  I am so glad that Jerry has a nice, big place to host our party and that Darinda organizes everything so well.  Those two really do take good care of us.  This year instead of me assigning everyone things to bring we made it simple.  Gramps makes such BIG pans of lasagna that we had him do that.  We also asked Erin to bring one just in case his isn't enough...it was enough.  Erin makes a yummy lasagna where us older sisters might prefer to just buy one. ☺  We then just had everyone else bring a salad, rolls or dessert.  It worked out great!  We had plenty of everything and no stress.  I made jello jigglers this year and they were a hit.  The food was yummy but the company was better.
I rotated around the tables so that I could at least see everyone.  I like staying connected and wast to be sure to take advantage of these times since they don't happen but once a year now.  Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.  Larry's cousin, Wendy and her hubby and son with his family joined us tonight.  Larry's other cousin Dan and his wife did as well.  I am glad they did...the more the merrier.
After dinner, Darinda got out the Nativity costumes and the little ones dressed up.  I love looking up and seeing all the little angles.  Our family is short on boys this generation...we only have a few and so this year even Joseph was a girl.☺  I love including the Nativity in our Christmas Celebration since that is what Christmas is all about.  I think the little's enjoy it too.  Larry was the narrator and was prepared with his reading glasses.  Darinda has asked him for years now and so he came prepared.
Santa visited after the kids did the Nativity and the only little that wasn't real thrilled was our little Sadie.  She was frightened and hid her cute face in her mommy's shoulder until he was gone.  I remember last year the little ones that were about her age were the same way.  (she's 20 months)  Santa brings the kids cute socks which isn't really a surprise to them but they all enjoy getting their gifts.

Everyone helped clean up...or at least were suppose to help.  Actually we got off easy this year because Jerry had us leave a lot of the tables and chairs up since he was going to use them in the following days.  It was a fun night.

I love watching everyone grow up and interact.  My cute niece, Kaylee made my night.  She came up to me and started talking and mentioned that she had read the book I wrote about Jared's experience and ours.  She was touched by it and made sure to tell me.  She doesn't know how much that meant to me.  I always remember who approaches me and especially when they compliment me.  I left feeling happy and thankful.

Sista Christmas Party

Oh my heck...I have such fun friends.  We met at Carla's for our Christmas Party.  Since I learned to make caramel apples from Lisa it was decided that I should teach everyone else.  I was okay with that because since Lisa taught me I have made over 20.  I know what I'm doing.  I tried to remember all the tricks Lisa taught me so I could teach everyone else.  I think that lesson went well.  The apples were made and looked lovely by the time we were done.  Have I mentioned how fun my friends are?
We had a little lunch before we got started on the apples.  We had pizza and salad and a few desserts.  I made Carla a rice krispie cupcake since her birthday was yesterday and she loves rice krispies.

A few weeks ago Carla and I bought everyone a Christmas Stocking and  we had them hanging on the chairs.  We all brought gifts to fill them. I really thought that was a fun idea.  We had a fun variety of gifts.  The gift I had bought didn't get put in the stockings because I didn't think I had enough.  I did have enough though because a few gals that said they were coming didn't show up.  I decided I will give them to those that came anyway.  They were little fans you plug into your phone to cool you off.  A "cool" gift for gals my age.
After enjoying our lunch I demonstrated how to make the caramel apples.  We washed the apples before in vinegar water to help remove the wax.  Everyone made their apple as we went.  The caramel was soft and worked really well.  Getting the caramel on the apples went much smoother than it has for me.  Next we dipped and sprinkled cinnamon sugar on them.  I melted the white chocolate and explained that you didn't want it too thick but nice and creamy.  Everyone dipped their apples and the chocolate remained good for them all.  Jodi double dipped her apple and so her chocolate was much thicker.  She wanted it smooth. I have noticed that sometimes the apple isn't as smooth as I would like but once they are done it isn't noticeable.  Piping the colors on the top was hilarious to me.  It isn't as easy as it looks.  However, the sprinkles kind of disguise that too.  I think they all turned out well when we were done.  We put them in cute bags and added ribbon and they were perfect for gift giving.
We had to take a few more pictures before everyone left.  I love having pictures though because they help me remember all the fun we had.  Those cute aprons we are wearing were in our stockings along with a pillow case, chocolate cinnamon bears, chocolate bar and Santa bell, a pez dispenser, a chocolate wand from Harry Potter world in Florida, and a mitten coin purse. It was pretty fun having a stocking full of surprises.

I love my friends and I'm glad that we all enjoy making memories together.  I think getting together with family and friends is one of the things that makes this time of year so wonderful.  It's about Love and Sharing it with Others!

Sunday

Spiritual Sunday

I must say at this time of year there is so much to remember and sometimes I forget.  Even if I have written it down because if I don't remember to look where it was written then...you know...I don't remember.  Today that happened.  I went to church and enjoyed listening to Heidi Mead report about her mission.  I have watched this cute girl grow and I was even her visiting teacher for years and her mission has been so good for her.  She is so much more confident and out going.  She will always be a bit shy and reserved but it's evident that she believes in herself.  The spirit was great and I loved hearing her message.

Immediately after our meeting we left to go listen to our cute niece, Jackie Ropelato report on her mission.  As we were driving I mentioned to Larry that Justin had mentioned that he was speaking in his ward today.  He didn't invite us but had just told me yesterday when I told him about Jackie speaking.  That's when Larry reminded me that Jaydan too was speaking today.  I had written it down on the calendar and even put it in my phone about Jaydan but that was a few weeks ago and I didn't remember.  Dang...I felt so bad.  Jaydan's church was a 9:00 and so it was over.  I text him and told him that I was sorry and that I just didn't look at the calendar and my mind has been on overload for a few weeks.  I'm sure Jaydan and Justin did great because they are great kids.

Jackie's ward was interesting.  They started late and didn't get through with the sacrament until 20 minutes to the hour.  They had 12 deacons passing the sacrament and still had to prepare and bless a few more trays of water.  There were a lot of people visiting that ward today. Not only was Jackie reporting on her mission but they had another Sister Missionary talking that was just leaving.  That gal talked until 12:00 which technically left Jackie with 5 minutes.  I was anxious at the end of the other gals talk...I wanted her to end and she even said she needed to cut things short but I didn't notice it happening.  She thanked each person in her family in detail.  My blood pressure was rising.  I really wanted to hear from Jackie.  When Jackie did get to speak she did a great job.  She didn't seem stressed about the time being gone and she reported on her mission very nicely.  She took about 15 minutes and I was glad.  Her talk was perfect and her spirit was strong.  She served a great mission.

I love listening to others speak about how the Gospel of Jesus Christ changes peoples lives.  I love seeing it happen.  It's true ... it does!  When we are following Christ and letting God guide us and direct us, life is pretty darn good.  I love the Gospel and Know it's true!  No Questions About It!

***Larry and I stopped by the Meads later that night and had a nice visit with their family.  As we were leaving a few nice things were shared with us that sure made me feel good.  Lorraine shared that when her and Kevin went to get his visa for his mission, my sister in law had helped them.  She told Kevin that she was the gal that Larry talked about when he told the young men not to have girl friends before their missions.  Larry's brother married the gal he left home just weeks before Larry got home.  Kevin pondered that and then said something like...Larry got the better deal.  Kevin just smiled as his mom told me and I high-fived him.  Then Lance told me that he had always thought I was one of the better looking Lakette's in High School.  Sweet!  It was nice hearing and I can't imagine ever getting tired or bored of hearing nice things.  It's those little acts of kindness that matter just as much as a big one.

Saturday

Lakeview Ward Bishopric Dinner

Larry is the High Councilman over the Lakeview ward and so we were lucky and got invited to their Bishopric dinner.  We went to Ruby River.  I got coconut shrimp because I wasn't very hungry.  I think they had to go catch the shrimp because it took forever for them to bring them to me.  Cute Megan next to me was waiting for me to get my food before she would eat and finally I just told her to eat before her meal got cold.  It was yummy though when it finally came out.  This is a fun Bishopric and I felt very comfortable being around them.  I know they all love Larry....what's not to love? ☺

Larry drove by the lights in Roy because he knows how much I love the lights.  I was stretching to see them and so he drove around the block and drove right to them.  The Christmas lights do something magical to my soul.  The lights represent the Light of Christ...I love them!

It was a fun night with my cute hubby!

Friday

Crazy Kid

This child of mine cracks me up. I bet the cross fit gym he goes to enjoys him.  In fact, these pictures were sent to me from my friend that goes there too.  Jaydan is funny and creative.  He was going for the look of the Grinch.  Jaydan is also very strong and works hard at getting stronger.  I love my little green boy!

Thursday

Terrific Thursday

Today at bowling we celebrated Carla,  I took Rice Krispie treats for everyone instead of cake because I know that's what Carla would prefer.  She loves Rice Krispie treats!  Our team is in first place and we have two weeks to go.  Hopefully we can stay on top.  I like my team...they're fun!  I really could care less if we take first but I know the rest of my team wants to.  I go for the fun and so I can see all my wonderful friends that I have grown to love that like to bowl.

We had a Christmas Party immediately after with the DUP group.  Shanna hosted and it was really nice.  We had Hawaiian Haystacks which Carla admitted she has never made.  She's going to though because she liked them and they really are so easy.  A few of my grands request that dinner on the Sunday's they come.
After the Daughters of Utah Pioneers party it was about time to leave for Special Needs.  The Tremonton 10th Ward was coming to host our Christmas Party.  They love to come every year because they love our group of friends.  It was fun and very organized.  They had a table where you could frost and eat Christmas cookies, a table to play Bingo, a table to make a cute ornament and then they had Santa come.  I loved that Santa was there the whole time.  The participants could go visit with him when it was convenient for them and didn't have to stand in a line.  It was a fun night.
I love being with these people...they truly are pretty darn wonderful. In fact, one of the Adults from Tremonton got teary eyed as he told me how he was telling his youth that they were standing in the presence of Celestial Beings.  He is right about that!  Tonight some of our friends brought gifts to share.  One gal, Crystal Cluff had a big tote full of cookies and treats that she had made for everyone.  She was wearing an elf shirt and hat and had a huge smile the whole night.  She told me she had a blast making everything.  She bagged everything so it was easy to give away and share.  I got cookies and chocolate and cards from a few others.
The nice thing about tonight was that I didn't have to stay until everyone left.  I helped clean up a little and took off.  I can do that now since I am the Camp Director and no longer in the Presidency...I like that!

I took the Nativities that were left a few weeks ago and gave them to some of the girls that hadn't come that night.  I got a call the next morning and Jess told me that they were hers and Emily's.  I wonder why she hadn't called me two weeks ago...or even last night when I still had them.  I told her I gave them away and she was fine with it.  I also told her I would make her and Emily another one since I do have enough wood.  I had one kit left and a piece of scrap wood that will be enough for a Mary and Joseph.  I will have to buy some heads for one set but that's all.  I appreciated her attitude when I told her I gave them away.  She was fine with that but I do want her to have one too.

Wednesday

Friend Day!

This morning I started off by going to visit teach Linda.  Crystal has finals and wasn't able to let me come to her until next week.  That's okay with me.  I don't mind spending a few days visiting my friends.  I committed myself to only staying 1/2 an hour.  When the half hour mark came around it was not a good time to leave.  Linda was sharing some things with me and I really needed to stay and listen.  Then the spirit gave me some ideas of advice.  I felt so good when I left.  I always do.  I love the ladies I visit!  Today I took a caramel apple with the little quote from President Nelson.  Linda sent me a picture later after she tried it...she liked it!
I met Mallory and Kathy for lunch at Applebee's.  It's "our" place and we got seated at "our" table today.  I got there first and was seated.  Mallory came next and when she saw her gift that I brought her she asked me what it was.  I smiled and told her it was her gift.  She then asked me again what it was and I noticed that she was holding the same size of gifts.  I told her it was a mug and she told me that so was hers.  She got us Yetti's and I got her and Kathy Rtic's.  They are the same but the Yetti is the original brand and costs a little more.  Funny that we thought the same this year.  I added their names to theirs and so now we all have two! ☺  Kathy gave us darling signs Angels can't be everywhere and that is why God gave us friends!  These two are two of the best and I do consider them Angels as well as friends.  Kathy had to leave for Young Women's and so Mallory and I chatted for while longer until I needed to leave.  Man...I love these friends of mine!
I left Mal and went to meet Tammy and Judy for dinner. (I didn't eat much at either)  We met at Good Wood and had a nice visit.  I loved listening to Judy tell us about her cute missionary.  A pastor's wife loves the missionaries and especially Judy's son.  She adores him and takes such good care of him.  She likes to do extra things for him and even bought him a new suit for Christmas.  Elder Nauta doesn't even live in her area anymore and so this family travels to see him.  It was really cool hearing all the stories. I had a great time visiting and exchanging gifts with my dear friends today.  Again I couldn't help but think....(you know what's coming)....It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year! I love that we make time to see the ones we love.  Even if we can't meet up with everyone we love we take time to send a card or note.  It's Great!
