Birthdays.....Justin and Kamryn

Today my son turns 34!  Geeze....it seems so unreal.  I love this boy.  He's always been such a good kid.  Justin loves to hunt...he always has.  He is a super hard worker.  Larry put a lot of responsibility on him when he was young and so he has just always worked hard.  He's valuable at TJ Trailers.   He is funny.  Justin can make anyone laugh and because of that talent, others are drawn to him.  Justin is kind and cares about others.  Justin loves his cute wife and is good at showing it.  He admires and loves her and it is obvious.  Justin is a fantastic daddy.  He loves being involved with his kids and they all love their daddy.  Justin is a leader.  Our family has always admired Justin and he set a pretty good path for each to follow.  The people that serve with him at church love and respect this son of mine.  He treats others with love and respect.  It's a privilege for me to call him my son.  Justin is a joy to have around.  Man, we love this kid!
Our cute Kamryn is celebrating 9 years today.  Kamryn is such a fun girl.  She is enthusiastic about most things.  She loves to have fun, create and do things for others.  She dances, plays sports and does gymnastics and she enjoys it all.  She's also good at everything.  Kamryn is sweet and the best big sister ever.  She loves her siblings and helps out with them all the time.  Kamryn is smart and does well in school.  She likes to cook and her cool parents let her make things when she wants.  She loves having others over and serving them.  Kam's favorite color is blue.  Kamryn is kind and thoughtful. She is such a sweetie and I can't imagine life without this cutie!  We Love Kamryn!

Celebrating 60 years with Mark

Tonya and her girls planned a big surprise party for Mark since he was turning 60.  Tonya told me that he was kind of disappointed when he turned 50 and nothing was done.  Nothing was done because he told Tonya that he didn't want a party or anything but really he did.  So this big birthday she got on the ball months ago and got things going.  I think the girls made up a memory book for him.  Our family has lots of memories with the Coys.  I have lot's of memories with Tonya and Mark before I had my family.  I remember when Tonya met Mark.  I often was a third wheel and hung out with them. Thinking back over the years makes me smile.  We have done so much laughing together.  We have loved and supported each other.  Our lives are so intertwined and connected and we wouldn't be who we are without the other.  Growing up with Mark and Tonya has been so much fun.

When Mark first came in the room was filled and he had a huge smile on his cute face.  I went over to give him a hug and wish him Happy Birthday and he told me he thought Tonya was bringing him to our house for a party.  Then when she turned he was sure the surprise party was going to be at TJ Trailers (Larry's shop).  But really she was surprising him with a go kart race first before the party.  From what he told me he was surprised about the racing even though he still might have suspected that there was more to come.

They had a really great turnout.  Lots of family and friends.  Mark is truly loved.  Larry and I enjoyed visiting with the Coy Children.  We think the world of each of them and their spouses. Through Tonya and Mark we have made a few friends and it was great seeing them too.  Two of my good friends were also there.  Denise lives in their ward now but we both lived in Roy together and became great friends.  Jeanne was also there.  Jeanne and I met in High School and became the best of friends.  We were even locker partners and went on our Senior Trip together.  She married one of Mark's friends.  Jeanne and Tonya were in my wedding line. So our friendships have lasted a long time.  We also love Mark and Tonya's parents and siblings and enjoyed visiting and seeing them.

I love celebrating Birthdays and making more memories.  I love the friendships I have been blessed with throughout my life.  I am so thankful for Tonya and her family that have become our family.  They are the dearest and sweetest friends ever.  I love that all the Coy kids refer to me as "Aunt Dawn"....how that makes my heart joyous!

Fun...Fun....Fun!!!

Friday

A Week of Grands

Trichelle and TJ went to Costa Rica and so I got to have their cuties for a week.  We had a lot of fun and the kids were so good.  My brother is in town and so Thursday when I picked Behr up after bowling I took him to my moms.  He was so cute and warmed up to Bennett pretty quickly.  Behrenger was being so silly and had us all laughing.  I was really glad he didn't hurt himself as he ran around.  It was fun spending a little time at my moms.
We still had Macie on Friday and we had a good time but I think Macie prefers her Fridays with me by herself.  She kept telling me that Behr was tired and needed to take a nap.  He also kind of pushed Macie a few times but for the most part they enjoy each other.  I just thought it was funny that they didn't really want to share their gramma.
We went to Arctic Circle one day after school and then Kimleighel took the boys to the Park to play some more.  These kids are fun and prefer being outside.  We had Ivy off and on throughout the week.  She stays at her dads on Mondays and Thursdays and so we didn't see her much those days.  Maybe just for a few hours.
The kids entertain themselves pretty well.  They like the ipad, lego's, basketball, cars and little house with people.  I usually had toys all over the front room floor but the kids were also good at helping pick them up every night.  Behr is a climber and even when I moved the chairs away from the Air Hockey table he found a way to still climb on it.  The heater on the wall worked out just fine for him to climb on.  He was pretty careful though when he was on the table but I was also right there watching him.  The boys loved playing on my bed.  They were good to ask for permission.  As I watched them hide under the pillows and run around and act silly I tried to imagine what their thoughts were.  Oh the joys of being a child.
I did a lot of running around picking up kids.  Ivy stays after school often for activities and she also had dance on Wednesday.  We managed everything just fine though.  The kids went to bed good and woke up great.  Behr only had one night that he woke up and wanted to play.  It was Sunday night and I had taken some cough medicine and so I was pretty out of it while he was awake. The rest of the time Behr slept good and went down nicely.  I love when they are easy.
We did a lot of playing and watching movies.  I didn't accomplish much but I did enjoy just having the grands over.  I love their cute faces and listening to them laugh and jabber.  I love seeing Ivy grow up....well kind of....I would prefer her to be little ....but she is a really cute, fun girl who might be taller than me now.

We all went to Church even though Zaden doesn't really like to go to Church.  I let Zaden and Ivy come to class with Jared and I and they were great.  Behr enjoyed the nursery.
We went to Kevin's one night to check on the kids.  We were there when they gave the twins their breathing treatments.  It's quite the ritual and take about 45 minutes.  Kevin and Julie are such good parent.  (I think all my kids are)  Everyone was doing better which is such a relief.

I really enjoyed our week.  I enjoyed the calls from Trichelle and TJ and seeing pictures of them posted on facebook.

Thursday

Hats Production

We have been practicing for our Production the last month at Special Needs Mutual.  It's about Hats and what's under them.  The songs are great. Everyone has a different hat.  I really like the hats they have for the leaders....so funny.  There are a lot of speaking parts and I hope the audience can follow what is happening.  I can but I've been listening to everyone for weeks.  There isn't any dancing this year.  Everyone just stands and sings the songs and does a little bit of hand motions.  The participants seem to really like it and so it's perfect.  I wasn't going to be there on the Friday performance but after seeing how frustrated our Specialist was with the leaders I decided I will make sure I am there and supporting this both nights.  Carla and I joke that we fit right in.  We don't know all the songs or actions but seriously I don't think it matters.  I did sit on the back row though and had Carla sit on the row in front of me...hahaha ☺  It's going to be fun!  I love this group of Special People!

I love being able to drive with Barbie to and from mutual.  We usually stop for a drink before and food after since she has grands with her that enjoy coming and don't eat dinner first.  I know my time is getting close but if Barbie has her way I'll still be in for another year.  I'm okay with that!

Wednesday

Pampered Chef

Kelsi, my cute daughter in law stared selling Pampered Chef and so I had a party for her.  Hosting parties is not my favorite thing to do these days.  I worry about people coming and them being good.  Kelsi told me that it didn't matter and to not worry.  I kept getting texts from friends that they couldn't come.  A few wanted to order and even out of those that said they wanted to only a few really did.  I did have people show up though and the party was a success.  I'm getting new pans.  The pans I have are from Pampered Chef from way back when and they need to be replaced.  The pans that they sell now though are life time guaranteed and so I will have them forever.

Kelsi had everyone help in different stations.  I liked having everyone be involved. We made a yummy veggie pizza and a scrumptious cookie pizza dessert.  Larry took the grands to dinner and to Braxton's to play.  They had fun too.  It was a fun night and even a fun day.

I didn't stress at all today getting ready.  I even prepared the sample crafts for girls camp.  It was a great day.

Sunday

Jared's Announcements

I made Jared's Graduation and Mission Announcements up and got them ordered.  I like doing them myself.  I'm proud of this boy and will be the Happiest Mommy when he graduates...he's close.  Jared's a funny kid, if he isn't interested in something he just doesn't do it.  But, when he is interested in something he talks about it all the time and puts his whole heart into it.  Needless to say English isn't interesting to him. YIKES!  My stress levels are high right now and will be until I see that he is passing.  He does't enjoy reading or writing and so he doesn't. He did so well last quarter that I wasn't even concerned. I have had many talks with this boy about having to do things in life just because.  I mentioned he would be reading a lot on his mission and actually his response gave me peace of mind.  He said "I understand and enjoy the scriptures."  Whew...but come on son....liken English to running and do it even though it's hard. (he loves track)  I can't wait to see his thoughts on School in a few years.
Jared's a good kid.  He has a heart of gold and he really does try to do what is right.  Sometimes he's a little hard on himself and compares himself to his older siblings...their strengths/his weaknesses.  I know Jared will do well in life.  He is smart and a hard worker.  I know he will be an awesome missionary.  He lights up whenever his mission is brought up.  I love this kid!
When Justin was leaving for his mission the photographer had me get a picture with him and so it's became a tradition.  I like to sneak it in their luggage and I have one out on a shelf to look at for the two years too!

Friday

Charles (Chuck) L. Ropelato

Larry's Uncle Chuck passed away this week.  He is gramps older brother!  I remember Chuck always smiling and so pleasant.  Him and Louise always supported our kids if they were invited to anything.  I'm happy for him but I know he will be missed because he was truly loved!

Wednesday

Connor

Connor, our buddy has been after us for months to come see him at his group home.  Life is so busy but we finally made it.  It was kind of hard getting in and I regretted it right at first because the smell was very unpleasant.  It's not that the place was dirty but there are a lot of adults and diapers. Connor was excited that we finally made it.  We suggested we visit outside which is what we did but then Connor wanted to introduce us to his friends.  Everyone in the place is his friend.  Connor's behavior has changed a little...I heard him cuss at a friend.  I also heard him tell an older guy that he needed an enema. haha  Larry and I were told a naughty joke by one of the guys. (I think Tony)  He looked at me and said "I know why you can't get pregnant"....then he pointed at Larry and said "because he has a Halloweenie".   Oh my goodness...we just laughed and moved on.  I was anxious to leave and I probably won't go visit Connor there again.  I think the workers are Angels and I really hope that they treat the occupants nicely.  I ask Connor if they are nice and he says they are.  I love Connor and I'm glad he's living with a bunch of friends.  He likes being home best though but knows he needs to be here to be taken care of.  His Uncle was an occupant here years ago.  Connor's grandma needed a break after years of caring for her son and Connor.

Tuesday

Park Ward Program

My good friend, Kellie Cooke who is the RS President of the Park Ward was able to get Tylinn Tilley and Tiffany Stoker to come and speak to our Stake Young Womens and Relief Society about their Bear Lake Experience a few years back.  These girls were with their friends having a start of summer party when the winds picked up and sent their boat tossing.  These two cute girls were able to survive and so was the mother of the girl who was having the party.  The dad, little sister and two other young girls did not survive.  It was a horrific experience and these girls did a fabulous job of telling their story.  They likened their story to Christ several times.  They recognized the tender mercies of God that they received.  They are true disciples of Christ and their testimonies are strong even though they are still challenged at times.  I loved listening to them.  Tylinn's older sister also spoke of her experience.  She was on the other side of the rescue.  She assisted on the beach as they brought the others to shore.  I loved how loved and supported they were and still are.

It was a wonderful meeting and I was glad that Carla attended it with me.  I felt the spirit throughout the meeting and was really hoping that Carla would also and that she would recognize it.  I know she enjoyed the meeting but she struggles with her beliefs.

***a little funny that happened.  I was sure the meeting was at 7:00 and so I picked Carla up just before 6:30.  We got to the Church and the parking lot was full.  It was raining and I thought it was strange that so many would be there so early.  We went inside just as they opening prayer was being said.  So, instead of being about 25 minutes early we were actually 5 minutes late.  We got good seats though even though we walked in late.

Pedicures for the Girls

Kimleighel and I went to the store today to see if there was any stuffed bunnies discounted for next Easter.  Everything was really picked over and the only thing I picked up was a cute book about the Atonement.  That just might be what the Easter Bunny leaves next year on the porches.

Trichelle called us to see if we wanted to get pedicures and it was on her.  I just had one and so I went and visited and enjoyed the massage chair.  Trichelle is getting ready for Costa Rica and wanted her nails done.  I always enjoy whatever time I get with my kid and try to be available when they ask me to join them.  I love these cuties!

Monday

My Monday!

I was so giddy and excited for Jodi today!  She is living her dream and running in the Boston Marathon.  The girl has worked HARD and put in so much time to be ready for this day. It's so exciting!  I'm so happy for her!  When I heard that this was happening the day after Easter I knew there was no way I was going to be able to be there with her.  Trying to get a missionary off is costly and I would have felt too guilty putting that stress on my hubby...plus I couldn't be away on Easter...I just couldn't.  But....I might have been one of her biggest cheerleaders..there or not!  I thought of her all day and kept checking the news.  I'm not kidding Jodi was on my mind constantly even with so much happening. I'm ecstatic that she is doing what she has worked so hard to do.  Yeah Jodi!!!

I was thrilled that so many of the "sista's" were able to get away and go support her in person.  I was worried at first but once one made the commitment the others jumped right on board!  These gal's are awesome!  Jodi's family were there for her too....I think that is so cool!  It's because Jodi is so wonderful and easy to love and support!  What an accomplishment!
I got to enjoy Braxton and Kelsi's little's today for a few hours.  I sure adore them and loved snuggling on little Jack.  Sadie is just fun to watch.  She is great at entertaining herself and has a cute little imagination.  What joys these little ones are!  I love being a gramma!
When the babies went home, Carla came over and helped me get things for Girls Camp organized.  I had everything put aside but we got things in containers so it's more organized and will be easy to pull out at camp as we need it.  I added a pillow and a few sheets and dish towels to this pile and I'm set.  I don't have to worry or think much about camp now except for getting permission slips to everyone and back again.  It's going to be fun!  Oh...I guess I still need to make a few crafts for examples...but whoopie!  I'm Ready! Woot Woot!!!

I invited Carla and gramps to dinner and made a pork roast.  It was yummy.  Carla and I went with Larry to a widow's to turn her water lines back on and then to Dale Widdison's to discuss the menu for camp.  I turned all the food over to him because he's the best at knowing amounts and how to cook for crowds. (our group is not a crowd to him at all)  I'm feeling great!

Sunday

My Favorite Sunday

Easter Sunday is my Favorite Sunday of the Year.  I love the feeling I get on this day.  I love thinking of Jesus Christ and the love He has for each and every one of us.  I feel sad about all the things that happened the last week of His life but those things also bring me peace. His love and life give us all hope....hope of returning to our Heavenly Parents again and being with our families forever.  I love the thought of the resurrection...what a glorious thing.  This holiday probably doesn't get enough attention for what a HUGE event it represents.  I enjoy the fun traditions we have but really as a whole I don't focus on the greatness of Easter like I really should.  Maybe I need to change things up a little and do a few more things before Easter to give attention to this day.  It's such a special day!

I remember as a little girl I knew that this day was special.  Even then I felt a difference in my soul.  It's a reverent feeling...so surreal....and one of beauty.  I love attending Church and hearing the messages of our Savior on Easter.  It's truly my favorite.

We didn't have a house full for dinner today.  Jaydan and Gramps joined us but it was enjoyable having them over.  Since it was quiet and we had time we decided that we would go visit Larry's mom.  We had a nice visit with her and then as we were leaving I felt like we should go check on the twins.

When we got there they were getting the kids ready for bed and I guess we just missed a lot of  tension.  Kevin said he was just thinking that the twins could use a blessing since they were both feverish and he was thinking about calling one of his brothers or dad.  Then the thought came to him that it would be cool if someone got a prompting and just showed up.  Hmmmmm....about that time we knocked.  Jared and Larry helped give the twins blessings and we came home.

Larry had another prompting today.  He felt like he was suppose to invite a young, single mom that lives in our ward to church along with her little girl.  He put it off but kept having the feeling he was to invite them.  Finally he text Erin and when she text him back she thanked him but also told him that Reese was at her fathers and the pick up time was during that time.  Larry told me about it and said he wondered why he felt so prompted to invite him.  I thought of my experience earlier this week and told him "maybe to see if you would."
Trichelle's kids on Easter!
Justin's kids on Easter!
Braxton's little one on Easter!
This is what our baskets looked like this year!  I didn't fill the married kids for the first time.  I think it's time to give them their buckets to enjoy in their homes now.  It's always so weird knowing what to do and when to stop doing.
MORE COMING WHEN I GET PICTURES!

Saturday

Things Got Crazy

I started the day off by taking Jared to get his Mission and Graduation pictures taken.  We went to the Temple first and Nikki got a bunch of great pictures of Jared in his suit.  I'm excited to see the results.  Then Jared changed and we walked up and down 25th street getting some for his graduation.  Twenty-fifth street is a cool place to take pictures.  It's old and pretty neat looking.
Behr got to come play again today.  He is such a cutie.  A few of his cousins joined him.  I really enjoy watching the little ones learn to interact and play together...they do a good job.  When Brynlie woke up I made her a bottle and Behr thought he needed one too. (he usually only has a bottle for bed).  Behr wanted to be by Brynlie while they had their bottles.  They are so cute.  Behr is gentle with Brynlie ...he likes her.  Brynlie wasn't feeling very great.  I could tell she had a slight fever and her spirit was a little down.  I ended up holding her after she ate and she fell back to sleep.  I didn't mind holding her and watching Behr play.  Kimi got home from getting her hair cut and was there to get Briggs when he woke up. Briggs is very mobile and gets around good.  I think Behr felt a little threatened by Briggs.  Behr wasn't up to sharing as good with Briggs as he was with Brynlie but he wasn't mean and Briggs is so easy going he'd just get a different toy.  I laughed out loud a few times as I watched them play.  Kevin called and was in a hurry to get to his in-laws and asked me to get the twins in their carseats.  I got Brynlie in hers but  let Briggs play a little bit longer.  I was helping him eat a banana when things got scary.  Kimi and Behr were eating at the table and Kimi noticed that Brynlie was twitching.  She told me she was and then jumped up and went to Brynlie and told me again.  I was in the kitchen with Briggs but hurried over to Brynlie.  Her eyes were glazed and her whole body was twitching. It was sickening seeing her like that.  I might have freaked out a little.  I handed Briggs off and quickly unbelted Brynlie.  When I picked her up her tummy heaved and I thought she was going to throw up.  I hurried to the sink as she heaved and twitched and jerked.  I didn't know what to do and just kept patting her back.  Finally she cried and the twitching stopped.  During that time Larry called Kevin and Julie to see how close they were.  They got there about the time the seizure stopped.  It was so upsetting to witness that and I think we all had tears in our eyes.  Poor little sweetie.  The twins have been sick a lot and I pray they will be able to get over it.  It seriously breaks our hearts to see them struggle.  They look so healthy and seem like they are doing great other than the sickness that hits their lungs a little too often.

We decided to visit my mom after the babies all left.  I still needed to clean her bathroom for the month too.  We had a nice visit.  My mom is a good person.  My brother is suppose to be arriving soon for a visit and my mom is looking forward to it.  I'm thankful for the people in my life!

When the sun went down we grabbed some bunnies and jelly beans and went to our grands.  This year the bunnies were kind of small but really soft.  We put the bunnies on the porches and spread jelly beans around.  We didn't feel like doing the paw prints this year.  I know our grands look forward to a little treat on their porch and so it's fun for us.  We had a few extra bunnies...(I think I was hoping we'd have more grands on the way) and so we left a treat for Reese and our cute friend Ruth.

***On Sunday, Ruth told me about the bunny that was left on her chair.  She loved how soft it was and how she thought it was cute that jelly beans were along her bench too.  She told me that she had about three people in mind who would have done it and then she looked right at me and told me she thought it could be me.  We just kept talking a little and then she asked "was it you?  She said she thought it was me but kept putting that thought out of her mind because I had given her a little basket with some treats when she came visiting teaching.  I can't lie...thus I could never play poker....I told it was our family...not just me.  It's sure fun doing nice things for Ruth because she really appreciates it.

Friday

A Fine Day

Today I was suppose to take Tammy G to lunch for her birthday.  She cancelled again and so it may not happen this year.  We had planned to go on her birthday and she needed to change and then last week when we were going to go my girls invited me to go with them and so we changed and rescheduled for today but she took a client and so we didn't go.  I decided to go get a pedicure since we weren't going.  I really needed a pedicure and so it was nice.  When I got home Behr was awake and cute as ever.  I love his cheesy smile....it seriously lights my heart up.  He's a fun kid to have over and pretty easy now.

Larry and I went to dinner with Carla and Roger at the same time Behr was going home. We went to LaFerrovia and saw our cute neighbors there.  I never get tired of that place. We went to Carla and Rogers after and played 5 Crowns.  Larry won both games and was pretty darn excited about it.  I lost both games but I don't care.   It was a fun day and night.

28 Already

Oh This BOY.....He brings so much joy into my life!  Braxton has always been so full of energy, mischief, and love.  He is a busy boy.  Braxton has never been one to sit around and play games or watch much tv.  This kid preferred to be outside building, creating, flipping or hunting.  He likes others peoples junk and we had plenty of it around our house while he lived here.  He made a fort out of an old bus and then actually built a few in the field.  His coolest project was camp Kaboom.  Camp Kaboom kept Braxton and his friends busy for years.  He's funny!  This kid still makes me laugh out loud.  He also still makes me roll my eyes.  Braxton has a tender soul and cares so much about others and their feelings.  He is such a thoughtful husband and daddy.  Braxton is talented and isn't afraid to try new things.  He has made some pretty cool projects.  Braxton is a go to kind of kid.  If anyone needs help they know that Braxton is the guy to call because she's such a handy man.  Braxton is a great example of goodness.  He follows Christ's footsteps rather well.  I sure do love this middle child of mine!

Some Good Things to Thing About

Gerald Rogers...the creator of Awaken posted this on face book today and gave me permission to share it.  I love everything about this.  Some good things to keep in Mind! ☺

"Do you feel like your life is in MAJOR TRANSITION right now? Are you experiencing significant CHANGE and UNCERTAINTY in at least one or more area of your life? Are you going through a MAJOR CHALLENGE that feels overwhelming to you?
If so, I felt inspired to share this message with you...
In the midst of change we often feel afraid or uncertain. When our job or at business feels at risk, we panic and stress worrying how we will provide for our family.
When relationships feel like they are breaking down and we are unsure of how to heal them, we feel helpless and hopeless doubting the future and feeling like we can't get the love we want.
When we are undergoing health challenges or illness we shut down and feel unable to keep up with the other demands of life.
But consider this...
You already know, deep down, that somehow everything will work out in time. God will provide. Love will prevail. Bodies will heal. Somehow, despite how challenging the problems seem that we face, we always emerge alive on the other side, and nearly always wiser and stringer because of it.
Perhaps when things are breaking down, it's simply God's way of realigning our life so we can receive something even better.
Perhaps these massive changes and challenges are His was of UPGRADING our lives, and most importantly UPGRADING us!
I feel like my life is in constant change and uncertainty. This is where I've learned to thrive, because this is the growth zone that lies just outside the comfort zone.
Here's some beliefs I try to remember when I'm feel overwhelmed or stressed because of the uncertainty... Try them on for yourself and see how they feel in your situation.
- Everything happens for a reason, and that reason is to lead me closer to source, and to help me grow and become more like God.
- I am infinitely supported by the Universe, and by God, and He is constantly trying to upgrade my life.
- All my stress and pain are self created, challenges may be part of this life, but suffering is optional.
- I am bigger and stronger than any obstacle I face. I will always prevail. I have everything I need to rise above this problem.
And then by remembering these things, I try to ask questions that allow me to shift from STRESS to SUCCESS...
- What's great about this?
- What am I learning?
- What do I want and what is the easiest way for me to create that now?
... Even if I don't have the answer right away, questions like this instantly shift my energy and focus and help remind me who I am and allow me to be resourceful in finding the answers and solutions I need.
So, if you feel overwhelmed by the changes you're facing in your life right now, than I just want to remind you... You've got this. You are brilliant. You are Beautiful. and You are LOVED.
your brother,
g
PS. If you're going through major change and want to learn specific tools to create a life that you love, come to the next AWAKEN... no excuses, just come. Trust me, it will change your life."
Since I'm sharing some thoughts from Gerald here's another about marriage that he shared:
"Most people get married believing a myth, that marriage is beautiful box full of all the things they have longed for; companionship, intimacy, friendship. The truth is that marriage, at the start, is an empty box. You must put something in before you can take anything out. There is no love in marriage; love is in people, and people put it into marriage. There is no romance in marriage; people have to infuse it into their marriages. A couple must learn the art, and form the habit of giving, loving, serving, praising– keeping the box full. If you take out more than you put in, the box will be empty." -J. Allan Petersen

Wednesday

Today Was Full

Today was Temple Day.  I really like Temple Day!  I drove by myself because I had a lot to do afterwards and didn't want to come home.  The Temple grounds are gorgeous again.  The trees have blossoms and the flowers are looking bright and cheery.  This is the part of Spring I LOVE!  I enjoyed my time in the Temple, so peaceful.  I put my pants on in the parking lot and I was off.
I had to go to Logan to pick up a microwave.  It was suppose to be like our old one so it would be easy to install. It wasn't quite exact and still took Larry and Jared a lot of time to get it in.  Sears was very close to where Denece works and so I stopped in to say "hi" to her.  She was out of her office and so I sat in her chair and when she came back I surprised her.  I visited with her while she got the meals on wheels ready for the drivers.  I love Denece and I'm glad I was able to see her for a bit today.

When I was driving to Logan, I felt like I should stop at my old hair dressers shop.  So, on the way home I did and no one was there.  I started laughing and praying and asked Heavenly Father why I had been prompted when no one was even there.  The thought "to see if you would" came to my mind.  I actually had that thought a few times and then heard it again later.  I guess since I am playing with Heavenly Father on something to see if He will come through, He thought He'd play with me to see if I would.  I'm glad I did and now I will just smile and wait for Him to.

I went to Jodi's after to wish her good luck at the Boston Marathon she is running on Monday.  I took her a Crunchie Candy Bar because she loves them as much as I do.  I'm excited for her and I know this is going to be a wonderful memory for her.  She has trained so hard and has accomplished so much.  She's a very determined gal and will do great.  I reminded her to think positive and chase the doubts away.  I will be cheering for her at home.  I ordered a "team Jodi" shirt like the sista's that are going so that I could be present in Spirit and still feel a part of the team!  I'm so proud of Jodi!

When I got back to Roy instead of going home I got a car wash and went to the Pharmacy to get Larry's meds.  I had to wait because the doctor hadn't called back from earlier this week.  Then I met Mallory and Kathy for lunch to continue celebrating Kathy's birthday.  I laugh when I look at our picture...I use to be as tall as Kathy. (I'm shrinking)  I just visited with my friends today.  I love our visits and the insight these friends give me.When I was telling them about my experience of "feeling" like I was suppose to stop and see an old friend and that no one was there, Kathy said "maybe, it was just to see if you would." (pretty sure that was my test today)  They're so awesome and smart.

When Larry got home I hurried and cut his hair and then we took Kelsi and Braxton to dinner for their birthdays.  They chose Village Inn because it is free pie Wednesday.  I think Braxton was wishing he would have chose a different place because his tummy got quite upset.  I'm thankful for these two kids and I'm glad they were born and that we get to celebrate them.  They're so cute and fun....I love them!

Tuesday

Tuesday Happenings

I got up and decided to make me some fresh Orange Juice for breakfast....it's so yummy!   I really needed to go visiting teaching before Easter but hadn't made appointments and figured today would be the best day to do it. I had thought about texting my sisters but changed my mind and chose to take my chance instead.  (I didn't want to be told no) I had cute little pails with Treats for my sisters and for my visiting teacher who also came today.   I was able to catch my sisters and at least say "hi". I really love the ladies I get to visit...they are pretty great!  I adore my visiting teacher too..she's awesome!

The insurance gal called to check on me to see how my blood pressure is and to make sure I am exercising.  I decided to cut back on my soda this month...my new goal.  My blood pressure is actually pretty low in the morning but still in range according to the machine we have. It was a quick visit.

When I was walking Ruth (my visiting teacher) out to her car I noticed a nice little nest in our courtyard with seven eggs in it.  I know for certain it was not there on Sunday when we had our Easter Egg Hunt.  The mamma didn't show up until dark to sit on them.  I decided to spray the weeds around my yard and sprinkle preen and while I was doing that Larry called to let me know that Kimi's car had stopped and that I needed to go rescue her.  It was actually time for me to go get my hair done so I was a little late for that.  It worked out okay though because Dana was going to have to run to the junior high to take her son his track shoes but Kimi did it for her.

I went home and did my hair and then me and my kids went and got some pizza on our way to Mya's piano recital.  I had to miss last year because of SNAP.  Mya has improved so much and I really enjoyed the recital.

It was a fun filled day.

Family Easter Egg Hunt

Today was the week all our kids come for dinner and so we decided to have our family Easter Egg hunt and dinner.  We kept it simple....I like simple!  I totally forgot to take a picture of the yummy desserts Natalie brought and it's because they were on another counter and there was a lot going on.  I also forgot to slice some oranges that I was going to since I have a case of them. (cRazY eYeS)  Everyone brought something for our dinner which is really nice because it's a little crazy trying to hide all those eggs.
We thought it might be too cold outside for the littlest grands and so we hid some for them in the piano room.  (it wasn't too cold) Everyone got to hunt outside and this year we didn't have areas for them...it was a free for all!
I enjoy running around with the camera trying to capture the fun.  This activity with our kids and grands makes my heart smile.  I love it!
While the grands were playing and it was mostly adults gathered together chatting we discussed Easter.  We talked about the events leading up to Christs crucifixion, His atonement and the Resurrection.  This is seriously the biggest thing that has ever happened and I do think that quite often it is overlooked and not focused on as much as it maybe should be.  We encouraged our kids to teach their little ones.  I remember when I was little and just knew that Easter was a scared holiday.  My family didn't talk about the real reasons but I must of learned in Church because I knew.  I hope that my kids and grands will also just know.
I cherish our family time and the traditions that we have.  I love these people so much.  They really are my favorite!

Friday

Healing Hands....

Trichelle and Kimleighel's cute friend, Sara was speaking today and so we went and listened to her.  Some people's journeys have some big lessons and it was great listening to Sara tell hers and how she got through them.  Sara is awesome and did a great job.  She said she always wanted to speak in public but now that she has she doesn't necessarily care to again.  She prefers working with others one on one. While we were there we also heard from Ms. Bluffdale.  This gal talked about labels and being labeled.  She had us do an interesting activity.  We wrote down three labels that were placed on us in our life on little sticky name tags.  Those labels brought up negative emotions but the worst part was we had to then go place those labels on someone else.  Wowzers....not an easy thing to do.  "you aren't good enough", "you're fat",  "you're not very smart", "you're lazy", "you don't measure up", "you waste so much time"....etc.  Those were some that I remember hearing.  As those labels were placed on me I didn't care and they actually made me laugh.  But, placing them on others was hard.  Yet, we do that so often in life.  We might not say negative things to ones face but often we do label others behind their back.  It would be so much better for us all if we stuck to the positive things...looked for them and mentioned them out loud to one another.  The best part of this day was spending it with my cute daughters.  I actually had to change some things around so that I could be with them and it was worth it.  I have such beautiful girls...inside and out they are pure Princesses.
I love that cute Krysta photo bombed us in this picture.  She is a beautiful soul!

Breakfast ~ What is the scariest thing you have ever done? Hands Down it would be Sky Diving! When people talked to me about it I would have a hard time breathing.  I didn't think there was any way that I would ever to it but when I put my mind to it and focused on the good things people told me and pushed away my fear it was awesome! (the fear has returned)

Lunch ~ What places (city or states) have you lived? I grew up in Washington Terrace, UT.  Lived in Ogden, UT in a basement apartment when I married.  Moved to a trailer house then a basement apartment in Malad, ID and eventually built a home in Samaria, ID Moved back to an apartment on 2nd street in Ogden.  Bought a home in Roy, moved up the street a few years later and finally built our home in Hooper, UT.

Dinner ~  What is your current favorite TV show and why? I don't watch TV and have no idea what is even on.

Midnight Snack ~ What do you wish you had more time to do? Vacation ☺ Even though we go quite a bit, it would be fun to be able to go more.  I have time for everything I need to do but I don't always make time for everything I need or want to do.

Recipe for the Week ~ (instead of your recipe for life, what is it just for the week?)  Think Positive!  Positive thinking eliminates: fear, judgments, stress and anything else that makes us unhappy.

Thursday

Palmyra

Over Conference Weekend and Spring Break we took Jared to Palmyra.  It was a wonderful experience for us all.  We walked through the Sacred Grove before conference on Sunday and felt the spirit.  The morning light was shining through the trees and it was glorious.  We decided that the grove might have looked very similar to what it's like right now.  It's early spring just like it was when Joseph Smith went to pray.
We watched the Conference at the Palmyra Inn where we were staying.  I really enjoy conference.  A lot of talks spoke to me but President Uchtdorf's brought peace to me as he spoke about much of what I learned at the conference I just attended with Trichelle.  The event I went to wasn't sponsored by the church but it taught about things that will help us get closer to our Heavenly Father and so it was perfect.  After Conference we visited the Hill Cumorah  visitors center.  We looked around and watched a few video's.  Jared went to the top of the Hill but Larry and I only made it part way.  It's steep and we chose not to.
The next few days we visited the Sacred Grove again and got to see the inside of some homes that are replicas of what the homes might have been like.  We enjoyed the sister missionaries that taught us.  We visited the Whitmer  farm and the Susquehanna River where Joseph Smith was baptized.  So many good things happened there and the spirit was serene.
We went to the Printing Press and enjoyed the tour there and some more inspiring video's.  The spirit testified again to me that Joseph Smith was a true Prophet and this work is true.  I have never doubted that but was reasurred anyway.  I felt a soul connection with a darling missionary from the Dominican Republic.  She lives in the mission Kevin served in.  When she first saw me, she grinned and said "have we met?...I feel like I know you."  It was fun visiting with her.  The sister missionary that showed us through the Print Shop reminded Jared of our good friend, Emmalee winter.  She really was very similar in looks and actions.  We shared their pictures with each of them. ☺
Our little vacation was relaxing and low key.  We weren't in a hurry to get from one place to the next and I liked that.  We just enjoyed where we were and the events that took place there.
We met a cute family from Farmington and enjoyed a hamburger and some ice-cream with them at the Chill and Grill one night.  Those little cones were "kiddy" cones.  This family was spending a week going to all different places.  I think Elizabeth is brave for taking her kids by herself.  Her oldest son, Nathan, would love to join Jared on his mission in a year when he graduates.  Alaska is Nathan's first choice of places he'd like to serve.  I know that made Jared feel even more blessed than he already does.
Since we had seen everything in Palmrya we decided to take Jared to Niagara Falls our last day.  I was pregnant with Jared the last time we went.  It was an enjoyable day.  Our time away from home was enjoyed and well spent.  It was time to head home...or at least we thought it was time.  When we got to the Chicago airport our flight was delayed because of the yucky weather occurring around the states.  We were fine with that but then it just kept happening.  Our plane did make it in but someone found a nail in a tire and so the tire needed to be replaced.  I like that the plane is inspected so well.  Anyway to change the tire the plane needed to be taken to a hanger where all the tools are which takes a lot of time.  We got delayed again but before the tire was changed it was decided that our flight would fly on a different plane out of a different terminal.  Alrighty then....everyone moved to the new gate in the new terminal.  We were ready to board this plane but again were told that there was a problem with one of the emergency doors and it needed fixed.  I really like how thorough the planes are checked out.  This problem didn't take long and we actually got to finally board.  By this point we should have been home and in bed but at least we were boarding.  We arrived home about 3:00 am.

I really enjoyed our time away and I'm excited for Kimleighel to go with the young adults to these sites and others this summer.  We were going to take her with us until the young adults said they were going.  She will get to see and experience more but I think this was perfect for Jared right now.

I'm grateful for Joseph Smith and his prayer.  I'm thankful to know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ knows each of us by name.  I'm grateful that a path was made so that we could all be guided back "home".  We are very blessed to have the Bible and the Book of Mormon to be taught from and to be spoken to.  We really are loved so much!  I love Heavenly Father, Jesus and the Holy Ghost. I'm happy for the journey that is mine.  It's unique to me as everyone's elses is to them.  Life is pretty darn wonderful.
