Gina's "Angel"versary

I am so thankful for memories...and pictures to help us remember.  I am so glad that I knew and could call Gina Talbot Smedley my friend.  Gina was a fighter....you have to be if you get cancer!  She was positive and trusted in God.  She Praised God Always!  I loved that about Gina!  She smiled even when she didn't feel like it.  She lived for everyone else!  She lived her life until the very end.

I treasure the day that Jodi and I went to visit her.  She was coherent and able to express her feelings to us.  She knew her time had come that she would be meeting our Savior...she accepted that.  We were able to express our love for each other.  I knew that would probably be the last time I would see my friend alive in this life....that day is precious to me.  I'm so glad that Jodi followed the prompting that she got and invited anyone to join her.  It worked out perfect for me and I believe that was a tender mercy.  God knew I wanted to see Gina before she passed.

I'm so thankful for God and the love He is constantly showing to us.  I am finally at a point in my life that I am able to recognize it and allow Him to guide my life.  I believe He always has but I see it now and it's easier to follow His wishes.  I know that we are guided to others so that God can bless us through them.  Gina blessed so many around the world because she shared her faith and journey.  I know that we all bless  more than we know and I am so thankful for everyone that crosses my path in some way or another.

It's so hard losing our loved ones.  Our hearts and souls ache for them....that's part of this earthly experience.   I think it's the hardest part of life....even believing (or knowing) we will see them again.  It hurts because we love.

Today a few of us gathered at Gina's grave to celebrate her life a little through our thoughts and expressions.  We as friends continue to make memories and live our lives.  We celebrate each other...we support each other....we love each other.  We are the Angels in Life!

Kamryn's Birthday

I am so glad this little one is  in our family.  Little Kamryn is such a joy and smartie pants.  She is so funny and witty and loves to have fun.  For her birthday she told her mom she only wanted to spend the night with gramma in the trailer.  We didn't get the trailer out of storage in time so I promised Kam when we did get it out she could have another sleep over with just me.  We slept in the family room instead and watched George of the Jungle and ate treats.

Jaydan took her to dinner while Larry and I went out.  Then I took her to the store and even though she didn't want a present....she picked one out anyway.  It's so fun to have a little one on one with each of the grands.  I'm glad that Kam wanted to have sleepovers with me because now it is a tradition with each of the grands on their birthdays.
I love this girl.  She is truly a blessing and a huge bonus to our family!  I can't believe she's 6!

Justin's Birthday

I sure do love this son of mine!  Every birthday takes me back to the day they were born.  There are certain memories that stand out.  I remember holding Justin with a different sense of pride and joy than with Trichelle....it wasn't better or worse but it was different.  This boy has always been a good, kind, hard working kid.  He is honest, funny, talented, and sensitive.  Justin always knew when I needed a hug and gave them to me all the time while he was growing up.

Justin is a sweet husband.  He is so good to his beautiful wife.  Justin is a fun and caring daddy.  I always knew Justin would be a great dad because he always loved little kids and was good at taking care of them.  It started when he was 4 and we had Kevin.  Justin could get Kevin out of his crib (Larry let him...I would have got Kevin out and handed him to Justin) and he would gently hold and take care of Kevin.  They would fall asleep with Kevin laying on Justin's tummy.  Justin's kids adore him which means he treats them wonderfully.

Justin is an example to our family.  I think everyone looks up to him and knows they could go to him with any concerns or problems.  I am so thankful for this son....he makes my heart smile....BIG!
We enjoy taking the kids out to celebrate their birthdays.  Justin is conservative to where he chooses to go.  This year we went to Dickey's.  I think Justin wanted to show us the aluminum he bent and helped them with.  It looks nice and YES I am proud of my son and his talents.

Tuesday

Cookies....Mmmmmm

Yesterday and Today I spent a lot of time in the kitchen doing something I enjoy.  I baked cookies....lots and lots of cookies. Yesterday I made a double batch of banana cookies with chocolate chips and a double batch of banana cookies without chocolate chips.  When I was done I went and got a pedicure. ☺ I love my banana chocolate chip cookies and that's why I volunteered to make some for the reception.  MaryLou is doing most the cookies but I figured I would make some too and if we have extra.....good!

Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies:
Cream: 1 cup sugar, 2/3 cup shortening, and 2 eggs.
Add: 1 cup mashed banana's, and 1 tsp vanilla and mix
Add: 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp baking soda, and 2 tsp baking powder....mix
Add: 2 1/2 cups flour and mix then add 1 cup chocolate chips
Drop on greased baking sheet and bake at 400 for 8-10 minutes (they don't look done but are)

Today I made a double batch of Chocolate Chip Cookies from a Recipe Natalie gave me.  In fact I baked today to help Natalie out because she was going to make these along with her Swig Sugar Cookies.  I have more free time than her and so I decided to make the Chocolate Chip Cookies.

This is her recipe:
Cream: 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup margarine (use margarine not butter)
Add: 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla, and 2 TBL milk...mix
Add: 1 tsp cream of tarter, 2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt...mix and add: 3 cups of flour and a cup or so of chocolate chips.
Bake on greased cookie sheet at 325 for 10-12 minutes (these don't look done either but are so soft and good)

After I made these I ran Jared to the Ortho and went and bought a few more ingredients so I could make more cookies.  I used another recipe just for fun.  This recipe didn't flatten as much. I doubled this recipe too.

Chocolate Chip Cookies with lots of Chips
Cream: 1 cup of butter (I used butter), 3/4 cup sugar, 1 cup brown sugar, and 2 eggs
Mix in: 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp vanilla, 3 cups flour, and 3 cups chocolate chips (wow...that's three times more than I used in the other recipe....you get a little dough with your chocolate chips...I liked it)
Bake at 375 for 8 minutes

So my freezer is full of ice cream and cookies.  We are ready to party at Braxton and Kelsi's Reception.  I'm so excited for these two and glad that I am able to help out a little.

*note to self* get chicken nuggets and french fries for Kelsi and Braxton so they can have what they wanted to serve at their Reception.  Oh...and don't forget the silver platter! (sometimes mom's aren't worth arguing with....as much as I love cookies I would have served the nuggets and fries)

Monday

Mondays are Fundays

On Mondays Natalie comes to our house for piano lessons.  I am sure grateful that she does.  It's so much easier for me.  She picks Mya up from school and then comes over.  I have been picking Ivy and Zaden up from school on Mondays and then I take them to tumbling.  It is fun that the cousins get to play with each other for awhile during piano lessons and before tumbling.  Once in awhile we bring Kamryn home with us too.  The volume in our house about raises the roof but it is happy noise and makes me smile.  I love seeing these little ones interact and make memories together.  I am so glad that they are able to do that at my house.

I love Mondays and seeing my grands.  I love having cars on my floors again and purses and barbies around.  Some weeks I don't even put them away.  My house is a house to play in.  I hope my grands will always want to come and have fun at gramma's house.  Oh how I love these little ones!

Saturday

Weekly Tidbits

* Most mornings I take Jared out to feed the cows before I take them to the bus stop.  Kimi usually helps him by cutting the twine off the bales.  We got a cute new calf about a week ago.  Jared loves the babies and gets upset when the big cows eat the hay that he throws over the feeding trough for the babies.  I love watching him and have helped a few times when we needed to hurry.  This week we have seen a skunk a few times.  Jared want to bring a gun and shoot it.
* At the beginning of the month when I went to book club, Suzie mentioned that her mom wasn't doing well and she expressed her feelings to Kathy and I that it would be nice if her mom could pass quickly instead of living like she was for years.  Her mom passed a week or so later.  I guess they had a memorial for her in CA where she was living but had a funeral for her here where most of the family lived.  She was buried my Suzie's daughter Shay.  I was so impressed with the talk that Suzie gave in honor of her mom.  It was like a poem...it didn't rhyme but it still like a poem.  For instance she would say: "water" and then mention the things that involved water that reminded her of her mom....like beach, swimming, etc.  I loved it and was so proud of Suzie!
* I attended the funeral of Rae Erwin.  This lady was my friend and I enjoyed hearing about her life and the things that she liked.  Rae did a lot and enjoyed her life.  She was always busy with something.  I am so glad I went and visited her the day before she passed.  Her friend that she went to water aerobics with told me that her and Rae would tease about wanting to just drop dead when it was their time.  Rae got her wish.  She was at the pharmacy getting her prescription and she dropped dead.  I'm happy for Rae and pictured her going through the veil looking over both shoulders and saying: "that wasn't bad at all."  I'm so glad that I was able to interact and spent time with Rae.  She has been a great example to me.  I sure love her! on the back of the program was this neat poem....
To Those I Love
When I am gone, just release me, let me go so I can move into my afterglow.  You mustn't tie me down with your tears; let's be happy that we had so many years.  I gave you my love you can only guess how much you gave me in happiness.  I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it's time I traveled on alone.  So grieve for me awhile, If grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted with trust.  It's only for a while that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and a "Welcome Home."
* I enjoy picking Ivy and Zaden up on Mondays and bringing them home to play with Mya and Parker for a little while before I have to take them to tumbling.  I am glad that Natalie doesn't mind coming to my house for piano.  It saves me from driving and the grands get to play with each other which they all love.
 * Macie cried when I held her on Sunday and Monday.  I need to work on getting her to smile and coo at me again.  I hope this little phase doesn't last long.
*I went to my mom and dad's on Friday and my sister came just after I got there.  I love bumping into this gal.  I love her and hope good things happen for her.

* Kamryn had a birthday party at Get Air bright and early on Saturday morning.  It was a pajama party which was perfect.  It was so much fun watching the kids jump and enjoy themselves. (even my big kids jumped and enjoyed themselves.)  I jumped a little and jumped into the pit and had a hard time getting out.  My bravery and coordination have gone.  I know I looked like a goof.  I'm glad only a few people even saw.

 * Larry and I went to dinner with the Malone's to discuss our plans for our cruise that is coming up.  I'm getting really excited and think it will be fun.  We are going to Alaska and we are all hoping that we see whales....actually we are expecting to see some.  Larry bought me some super nice binoculars to make it more enjoyable.  He said they are my mother's day present, and birthday present, and Christmas present for a few years! Larry is so sweet and knows how much I enjoy whale watching.  I told him he could go on the hike he wants to the next time we go to Hawaii and I will sit on a beach and watch whales.

Friday

Rise and Shine

Kathy had to work this afternoon so we decided to go to breakfast before she went to work.  Jodi and I got there before Kathy and had a little fun being silly while we waited for her.  We went to  Kneaders in Ogden.  They have some pretty yummy food.  I love just looking at the pastries and treats behind their counter....I splurge occasionally but not today.  I just window shopped today.  Depending on who is reading this...like maybe if you are my great grand or something....you may have no idea what window shopping is.  It's when you just go and look at things without the intent of purchasing anything.  People use to do that more often than today.  I still like to just look at things and dream of them knowing that really I will never get them or even want them for reals. The treats looked really good and because I didn't purchase anything besides my breakfast I can still dream of them and believe that they are delicious.  Well actually I did buy a little wall hanging that said: "Funny thing about Joy, is that you only really find it when you are too busy having fun to go looking for it." It was a little pricey but I really liked the saying so I bought it and hung it in my kitchen.
We had such a great visit today....we always have great visits. I learned a lot about running today.  Jodi told us about preparing your body for a run.  I had quite a few questions and had no idea there was so much to running.  I can totally understand how someone could hurt themselves because of their ignorance before a big race.  I admire runners but I will never be one.  I admire everyone that works out and has that kind of discipline.  Kathy just got her a bike and is going to ride for her exercise...I think that is so great.  I will continue just going to the gym and using their equipment and barely do what I need to so that I feel like I am doing something.  I don't have the drive to really push myself hard...plus I don't want to have to exercise hard the rest of my life to stay in shape.  I don't want my body to expect that....a little is fine with me.  I love these gals and I will say it over and over....I am so glad our paths crossed.  I really can't imagine them every separating but I know there might come a time that they will.  I just feel very blessed right now!

While we visited and enjoyed our yummy french toast  I saw a few ladies I knew.  Jill, the owner of Dilly Dally's was right in front of me and then my cute friend Stephanie saw me and came over to say HI.  She made my day.  I love Stephanie and cherish the years we sat at dance and got to know each other.  I miss this girl and wish we could get together more often.  Maybe in the future that will happen.  A season for everything right?  So I enjoy the ones that I do get to spend time with at this time of my life just like I have always enjoyed each season of my life and all those that have been a part of it.

Thursday

Happy Birthday Paul

I am so glad that Debbie and Paul moved back to Hooper.  I love just stopping by their house and visiting with them.  Larry and I did that last night and because we stopped we were invited to go to Dinner with them tonight for Paul's birthday.  I love these two!

Larry and Paul were great friends growing up even though Paul is a year younger than Larry.  They have some great memories of a lot of fun adventures.  I love listening to them talk about the good times they have had.  Debbie and I became friend instantly when we met.  I have always loved and admired Debbie.  She is fun to be around...I have always enjoyed our friendship.  We didn't see each other a lot while we were busy raising kids but always supported each other when important things came up.  It's funny how you don't need to be around close friends often to stay close.  Closeness just happens if it's meant to.

Paul chose El Matador which made me happy. (Jodi had  suggested it for lunch and I wanted it ever since)  I'm happy that we were able to help Paul celebrate his birthday.  There were a few others celebrating their birthdays tonight that went to eat there.  We know that because they made a big deal about it and had everyone help sing to them.  Every time it happened Paul looked at me and said "don't do it".  I wasn't going to because I saw Debbie tell the hostess when we were sitting down that it was Paul's birthday.  I guess they forgot because no one came to our table to sing to Paul.  I'm pretty sure that made his birthday even better!

Good Times with Good Friends!

Bowling is over for this season...a new season starts next week

I had a great time bowling this season.  I bowled on a team called the Bowling Buddies this year.  It was a fun team and we ended up taking 2nd place for the year.  I am always surprised when my team does well.  I just don't keep track of how we are doing.  I am more concerned about having fun.  I know that we always do our best regardless of where it leaves us in the standings.

Today was a fun day.  We bowled different ways that just made it fun.  The first game (and ended up being all three games because there were enough eggs) if you got a strike you got to choose an Easter Egg.  Inside was a paper that said you got money, a prize, or candy.  I ended up getting five eggs.  A few with money that totaled $4.50 and then one with a prize.  I chose hand soap.  It sure made it fun.  The second game everyone got strikes in frames 3-6-9.  That made the game go by fast.  The third gave if you hit 8 pins on your first ball it counted as a strike, I had strikes my first 5 frames. I ended with a 200 game which means I had open frames after the fifth. We were competing with different teams but we didn't know which ones.  The winning teams got more money.  Our team never won.  If we had we could have added 4 to 5 more dollars for each win.  It's all fun and all money was a bonus.  I ended up with $84.95!  WooHoo!!!

We also had pot luck which always makes bowling more fun! ☺ I took "bunny bait" and it was a hit. I had a few ladies ask me how to make it. A lady that worked at the bowling alley was carrying the bucket with the popcorn in it around asking who made it. She loved it! It's always rewarding to take a pot luck that so many like!

I am planning on bowling on this team again in the fall....if Sheryl doesn't come back. If she does I will move on to another team.  I am only going to sub this summer.  Carla had wanted to bowl but realized she was going to miss a lot of days and decided not to.  I was glad because I only wanted to sub.  When you sub you don't pay anything and get to know more teams better....it's fun!

I like all the wonderful friends I have made over the years by bowling.  I like the sound of the bowling alley when pins are crashing and bursting.  I like the chatter that fills the air.  Bowling is a fun hobby.

Tuesday

Ice Cream Dessert.......DONE!

I spent most of the day mixing ice cream for Braxton and Kelsi's Wedding.  It's a great feeling to have it in the freezer....DONE!  I made 10 batches.  (one more bucket is on the lowest shelf)  MaryLou gave me this recipe and it seems pretty good.  You mix 1 carton of vanilla ice cream with 1 carton of pineapple sherbet.  You add 12 oz of frozen raspberries (thawed) and 4 banana's cut in cubes.  Mix it really good and put in a container and freeze.  Not hard at all but a little time consuming and a little hard on my back.

I want to brag about my girls for a minute.  I have been blessed with some great girls....all with different talents.  I called Trichelle to help decorate a little where the gifts are going.  She has such a knack for decorating and putting things together.  We aren't doing much but I know that with Trichelle's help it will be perfect.  Natalie is the go to gal if we need something baked or cooked.  She made such yummy cookies for Kelsi's shower that she was asked to make more for the reception.  She is also making chocolate chip cookies because she has a good recipe that doesn't go flat.  Natalie is always so good to help out with dinners and is so gifted when it comes to cooking and baking.  Julie is an organizer and cleans up automatically.  I needed lids for the buckets and she found me a bunch.  Julie is also very good at thanking us for anything.  If we support them in anyway she will thank us...she's just very thoughtful that way.  I love these girls so much!  I love how they are all so different.  I am constantly learning from them and admiring their goodness. Kimleighel is like an extension of me. She helps me out how ever I need her to.  She is really good at cleaning things up good and quick.  I count on her a lot.  I look forward to getting to know Kelsi better and finding out her strengths.  She's a sweet heart.  I know I am blessed!

I've talked to a few of my friends that have had a few problems with their daughter in laws.  Some like to stir things up a little.  I am so happy to say that all mine get along and love and support each other.  I think they all respect each others strengths and don't compare....I'm so glad.

♥ I'm really excited for Braxton and Kelsi's marriage!  ♥

Monday

Easter

Easter Sunday is my favorite Sunday.  (I do love Mother's day too)  I love the feeling I get on Easter Sunday when I think of all the our Savior did for each of us individually.  His life was all about us!  His life was one of service.  He was always serving others. His life was about love.  He loved His father so much that he did His will always.  He loved us so much that he atoned for each one of us individually.

Because of Jesus Christ we all get to see our Heavenly Parents again.  Because of Him we will be with our families forever.  Because of Him we get to repent and start over as many times as we need. Because of Him there are no endings.  Because of Him no good-byes are forever.  Because of Him my life has meaning and purpose and I am happy.

I am so thankful for Jesus Christ and his life.  I am so thankful for the primary songs that taught me about Jesus when I was little.  I still love singing them.  I am so thankful that I continually get to know Him better as I live my life and depend on him.  I have learned He is always there for me and each of us.  I am thankful that He lives.....I testify He does!  I testify He loves us and is with us! (always)
I do focus on Jesus but still enjoy the celebrations and traditions that go with this Holiday.  I love filling these cute buckets for my kids.  I love being creative with the things that go in these buckets.  This year I was pleased that Salami was left in them...so were the kids.  I love our buckets!
Since the whole family was together last week we didn't see everyone this week.  I am glad that Justin and his family were able to still come.  I look forward to Sundays and being together.

I loved hearing the excitement from my grands as they told me about their Easter.  Mya was so excited that she was talking so fast it didn't make sense.  She was so excited to show me her sandals that are high heels.  She is growing up so fast and is so cute.

Parker told me how he picked matching ties for him and his daddy.  Natalie had tried to convince him to get a tie that was pastel so they could also wear them to the wedding.  She couldn't so she had Justin take him to the store to pick out their ties.  He looked at the ties and said no, no, no, no, yes, no, no.  He picked the exact tie Natalie had tried to talk him out of.  It was black and gray I guess. So cute....he knows what he wants.

Macie looked so cute in her purple dress.  Macie didn't want to smile or talk to me today so when I held her I mostly had her looking away.

Oh it's so fun seeing my kids as parents.  They are all such good parents.  I love them all....I love the little's that join their families....they are the cutest!

Sunday

Celebrating Gina

Today is Gina's Birthday and it is also Easter.  Last year it was so important for Gina to celebrate Easter with her loved one's even though she was really sick.  She also put on a smile for her birthday and enjoyed her family.  Because her birthday landed on Easter this year Rex knew that he had to do something special.  He wanted to have a celebration in honor of Gina and send her 53 balloons.  The time that was set worked out so that I could attend.  I left church a little early and was home in plenty of time to help get dinner ready for the family.  I'm so glad that I was able to go.  I could feel Gina's sweet spirit on my way there.  Of course she was there for her celebration.
Rex talked a little about some of his memories and let anyone else that wanted to share do so.  Not many spoke up but I am sure they were remembering like I was.  I had known of Gina since Junior High School but I din't know her until a few years ago when our paths crossed.  I met her and her daughter at a crafting day at Kathy Moore's.  She was all smiles and so fun.

Me and my friends were able to follow her journey while she fought the cancer that was taking her life.  Gina never complained and was always expressing her faith in our God.  I admired that about her.  I loved how she wasn't afraid or shy about talking of God and His love for us.  She truly left her life in His hands and knew that whatever His will was she would be fine.  Gina was a wonderful, positive example to everyone.  She influenced many that she only knew from the internet...her strong spirit was felt and loved by all.

She never quit fighting. Even when she knew that the cancer was stronger than any medicine she continued to try them all.  I know she did that for her daughter and her grand...so they would know that she never gave up.

I love this dear friend of mine.  I am so glad that she came into my life before hers was complete.  She inspires me still.  I am a better person because I have known Gina and got to rub shoulders with her.

Scattering Sunshine is Fun to Do!

I like when I have Sunshine Bags ready to go.  Then when I feel impressed that someone needs one I have it and can take it to them.  Last week when I took the kids to Tumbling Dana asked me if she was going to get her own Sunshine Bag.  I thought about it and thought heck YES if she asks then she probably needs one.  Dana is always doing for others and sometimes people like Dana get over looked.  Dana is a great gal and has helped my daughter and grands out at times and so it was fun to give a Scatter Sunshine bag to Dana.  Actually I let Ivy take it to her because I was at  Braxton and Kelsie's Birthday Dinner with Larry.  I bet Ivy enjoyed giving it to Dana too!  There's something about giving to others that just feels good!
I took a Sunshine Bag to Crystal today before she went in to have surgery on her thyroid.  This girl has brought lot's of sunshine to my life.  She was my friend when I pulled away from others.  She kept calling me and including me which was a huge blessing to me.  I love Crystal.  She is one of the kindest and purest of friends.  I feel blessed to know this gal so well.  She is a friend that I also count as family.  Larry has know Brad since he was born and so the bounds there are great.  I have loved Crystal since I met her.  She is such a great example of "good".

Monday

Birthday Dinner for Braxton and Kelsi

Tonight we took Braxton and Kelsi to dinner for their Birthdays.  They chose to go to Famous Dave's.  I love the smell of Famous Dave's....the food tastes pretty good too.  I love these kids.  They are so cute together and such a great match.  It's so fun adding to our family.  I like the choices my kids have made.  Some times I hear people say they really don't care for the ones being added to their family but I guess I have been blessed because I have loved every single one.  I still love and care about the ones that aren't officially ours anymore....but will always be a part of our lives because of the grands.

I love spending the time with our Birthday kids at dinner.  It isn't often we have one on one time with them.  I cherish these times....and I cherish each of my kids and my sweet hubby that makes it happen.

Braxton is "25" WooHoo

I love this boy of mine!  Braxton is such a fun, loving, hard working, wonderful kid.  He makes me smile. ☺  He is such a joy and has always made me smile...he has also made me want to pull my hair out but that was my problem not his!  Braxton is talented and loves life.  He works hard and he plays hard.  He is clever, witty, funny, fun and very spiritual.  He's just a well rounded kid.

I love thinking back over the years and can't help but smile.  Braxton has always been a good kid and I never worried about his choices.  (at least between right and wrong)  He has always been a spiritual kid and has never wavered in his testimony.  His first word was Jesus and I truly feel like Braxton has always followed Jesus and done his best to be like Him.

Braxton enjoys life to it's fullest and is always ready for adventure!  He adds so much to our family and I am so blessed to call him son and be his mom.  Braxton Bennett Ropelato we L♥VE YOU!!!

Sunday

Easter Dinner & Easter Egg Hunt

I love Easter and Our Family Traditions.  It's so much fun for me and I know that my family enjoys it too.  Me and the kids color Easter Eggs...this year it was just Jared and I.  We tried using shaving cream and food coloring (we also tried ink) to get a pretty, swirly, marbled look.  It didn't work for us.  It works great on shiny card stock but wiped right off the eggs.  So we just put the coloring on a paper towel and smeared it all over the eggs. It worked just fine!  I decided that this year we wouldn't hide the hard boiled eggs and we would just enjoy them with our dinner.  I know Mya liked that idea...I heard her tell her daddy she ate three. ☺  Besides we had 350 plastic eggs to hide...a dozen more wouldn't make a big difference.
We don't have a traditional dinner but I liked this years.  I went for Easter colors for our meal.  We had chicken roll-ups, pink mashed potatoes, purple gravy, corn, pastel deviled eggs, bunny bait,  and an orange salad.  Natalie made a yummy dessert. (have I ever mentioned that Natalie is a great cook and so nice to always offer to bring something)  We ate dinner before the hunt so the kids would eat good.  I think it worked.  I think my grands are so dang cute.  I point my camera at them and they either "cheese out" or make the funniest goofy faces.  Oh they make this gramma's heart smile! ♥  Macie is healing so nicely from her surgery and was all smiles today.  She is so cute!
We let the little's go out first and hunt on the North side of the house.  That way they get plenty of eggs before everyone goes hunting.  I love watching them run around the yard collecting eggs.  It's one of my favorite things.  They're just so cute!
I get the biggest kick out of watching my older kids go hunting for Easter Eggs.  This year the older boys held Braxton down so that everyone else could have a head start.  I think they know that Braxton is fast.  It made me laugh but I didn't realize Braxton couldn't breathe...they didn't hold him down long. He didn't pass out before they let him up...thank goodness.  Everyone runs around and I run around chasing them with the camera!  Oh Happy...Fun Day!  Gramps even collected a few eggs for baby Macie...how cute it that?

Usually we hide money in the eggs to get our big kids out there.  This year we surprised them because we didn't hide any money.  With Larry's surgery we just didn't have extra.  They all understood completely and said it wasn't about the money anyway....but I know that's what gets them out there....you just never know how clever Larry might be.

One year Larry marked a  few eggs and had some big prizes to go with them.  He made sure there were enough marked for everyone.  I know at least one of the kids had two of the marked eggs which meant one of the kids didn't get one and because the one with two was willing to share they were rewarded extra.  It was a fun year!

My family is the joy of my life.  From the time I was very small I always wanted to be a mommy and have my own family.  I was so glad that Larry felt the same.  We have such awesome, fun kids.  They warm my soul and continue to make me smile.  I am such a better person because of each one of them.  They have helped me to recognize my strengths and weakness.  They have filled my heart with love and helped me realize we are capable of loving much more than we can even imagine!  There is always more room for more love.

I love being Larry's wife!  I love being a mom!  I love being a gramma!  I love our family traditions!  I love Easter!  I love all the fun things about Easter but I also love the "sacred" part of Easter.  I love thinking about Jesus and His life.  He lived for others always!  His life was all about serving others...His death was all about each of us.  His resurrection brings Joy and Hope to my soul.  I know because of Him we will all be resurrected too and be able to be with our Heavenly Parents again.  I really am Trying to Be Like Jesus!

Friday

Christine was Kind

For my talk I wanted to display a picture of the 10 Virgins and I just couldn't find one.  I asked a few people in my ward but didn't have any luck.  So, I posted a little message on fb that I was looking for the 10 Virgins picture to borrow.  Christine said that she had the picture and that I could borrow it from her.  Bless her heart!  Kindness Inspire Kindness and so to let her know that I really appreciated her I took her a Sunshine Bag when I returned the picture.  I truly appreciated Christine for letting me borrow her beautiful picture.

I did it!

Last night was the night that I was asked to speak about the 10 Virgins and preparing to meet our Savior.  This was truly something out of my comfort zone.  I don't really like preparing talks and I'm so not confident in doing so.  I have only had to prepare a few talks to speak in Sacrament Meeting..15 minutes top.  Tonight I had the whole meeting.  I prepared a talk but really didn't know how much time I would take.  I think it ended up being about the right amount of time. (I love being guided by the Holy Ghost....He knew how long it would take and guided me in writing my talk)  I really did feel like I was guided in writing my talk.  I had a basic outline just days after being asked. I even had the handouts made up and ready to go.  I searched and read and added to my talk and then deleted from it and it wasn't long before it was done.  I really wasn't nervous about it until it was actually time to speak. Then I was a little nervous for a minute or so.

It's kind of funny that the other day I was reading over my talk again and I felt like I should have the ladies help me out with the first part.  I was going to read the artists comments about the picture of the 10 Virgins I took to display.  I had the sisters do that instead and it was a blessing.  During the time they were reading about each Virgin I had time to calm down.  I was calm by the time I gave my talk.  I am so thankful for the Holy Ghost and the guidance he is.

I am thankful that I was able to conquer another fear.  I am thankful that Heavenly Father prepared me for it before I was asked.  I am thankful that I am able to recognize HIS hand in my life. I am also thankful for my friends that are so loving and supportive.  Sweet Jodi came and got to see how her example helped me.  (she is used to speaking and I have been able to hear her a few times..she's good) Tonya made the time to be there too.  She helps her parents every week and told her mom she just couldn't stay as long because she wanted to come support me.  Tonya even invited a few of her girls and Amity was able to make it.  I know it's hard to arrange schedules with kids and it's not always possible which is why her other daughter wasn't able to make it. (it's okay)  Denise is also in this ward and invited Emily to join her.  It was so fun seeing Emily and her cute baby, Nora.  I forgot to get pictures with them darn it......so I added some. (hope you don't mind Emily)

Now is the time to prepare ourselves...it has always been the time.  We should live each day as if it is our last...who knows one of these days it will be.  We need to forgive others, repent, be kind, serve others, pray always, attend the Temple regularly, smile and be happy!  Life is to be Enjoyed and by doing those simple things it will be.
As a Thank You Diane gave me some Bright, Pretty Flowers.  Jodi brought me a cute Easter Treat!

Thursday

Bowling Buddies

This year for the Winter Season I was asked to bowl with the Bowling Buddies.  It's actually the team that got me bowling again about 9 years ago.  Debbie and Lynn were the only two original bowlers from the team and Shirley joined them when she started subbing for her daughter Sheryl while Sheryl went to school.  (it's the team I went to Nationals with) So this season we started out with  Debbie, Lynn, Shirley and Me.  My friend, Carla, wanted to join our league and there was actually a spot for her on another team.  However when Lynn heard us talking about it Lynn decided that she wanted to quit and felt like this was her opportunity.  So Carla ended up on my team.  It has been fun spending time with Carla and the rest of the team every Thursday morning.  We have a lot of fun.  Carla and I usually go out to lunch after just so we have a little extra time together.  Next year Sheryl might be back and so I might be joining another team. I don't really care which team I am on.  I have bowled on quite a few teams now and have enjoyed getting to know other ladies.

Wednesday

These make me smile ☺

I have recently received a few cards in the mail that have brightened my day and made me smile! ☺
I don't think this is very common these days for someone to take the time to actually mail another a card or letter.  I like it and have decided that I want to start sending some again too.  I use to drop little notes or cards in the mail often but haven't for years.  There is something about having the card or note. For one thing....I save them and read them when I come across them again.  I smile every time that happens.  It's nice being thought of and thanked.  This reminds me of the quote: "Acts of Kindness Inspire Kindness"  Kindness doesn't have to be a big deal to actually be A BIG DEAL!!!

Tuesday

I feel blessed......

Today I met Teresa and Tammy for lunch.  We introduced Teresa to Lava Cake which she has never had before.  I am pretty sure she will try it again some time.....because it's delicious.  I love these ladies and I'm glad that they have become friends as well.  I listened to them today and couldn't help but feel very grateful for my life and my problems.  I really do know that I am so blessed.  Don't get me wrong either....these two were not complaining about their lives at all.  They know that they are blessed.  We just all have different paths and journey's and usually we are happy just taking our own path.

As one reads my blog (or book) you might think that all I do is play.  Just so you know that is not true.  I do clean my house and prepare meals and every day I do laundry.  I watch the grands and help with them when needed.  However at this time in my life I do play a lot.  I have always played but it has been with my kiddo's in tote.  I am enjoying this time in my life.  It's fun and I love having fun.  I was asked if I wanted to work part time and my answer came without thinking...."I don't have time."  I don't want to make time for work either.  Yes the extra money would be nice but quite simply I have never had much extra money and have learned to survive without shopping and spending much.  I would much rather continue bowling, and meeting my friends for lunch and helping with my precious grands and being home when my kids get home.  I am still a mom with kids that love having me home when they get home.  So there you go....in case you were wondering...and even if you weren't! ☺

So Proud of this Boy

Jared is such a hard working boy.  He especially likes to work side by side with Larry or grandpa.  Larry has given him the responsibility of feeding the cows twice a day.  When a few of the calves were sold Jared got paid for his hard work.  The money went in the bank.  Jared is a saver....he earns money and immediately pays his tithing and then saves it.  Because he is a saver he had enough money to buy a gun that TJ was selling.  None of the other kids had quite the opportunity to make extra money like that and so none of the other kids could have bought anything this nice at age 15.  I hope that Jared realizes how responsible and wonderful he is.  I am so proud of him and all that he does.

Jared is a wonderful kid to end with.  He is such a kind, loving child.  Every single day he tells me how much he loves me and he hugs me a few times throughout the day. I'm so glad we were blessed with him and that he has been spared a few times in his life.

Each of my babies are such blessings and were born in exactly the right order where they can bless my life and each member of our family.  I love how close our family is.  When Jared was lost it was obvious the love we all have for each other.  Oh....I am thankful for my family!

Saturday

Angel Baby

Macie Marie is an Angel surrounded by Angels!  This little one continuously exceeds expectations.  She went in for surgery yesterday to have her lip and nose repaired and her uvula fused together and also to have a retainer or appliance bolted to her mouth to help bring her palate back together.  That's a lot of repairing and Macie did wonderful.  So wonderful that she is coming home today...the very next day!  She is eating great and they are able to control her pain simply by Tylenol.  Miracle...Miracle!  This picture was yesterday when she was awake for a minute.  She is a little swollen but not near as bad as I expected.  Macie is just such a sweetie and a blessing to us all!

Friday

Book Club

Today we went to Iggy's for our Book Club.  I think we talked a little about books....actually I think Suzie and Kathy talked about a few while I listened.  I couldn't remember the books I read and it seems that we are all reading electronic books these days so it's hard to share and remember if you don't take your device. Only Suzie remembered her Kindle and so that is probably why she was the one talking.☺

I grabbed a "Sunshine" bag on the way out so I could take it to Amy.  She wasn't our waitress but she got the gift because she is a wonderful waitress and gal.  I love Amy and I've been waiting to give her a sunshine bag for quite awhile.

Yesterday I noticed a lady eating by herself when I was at lunch with Carla and so I gave her a starburst with the sunshine on it. I hope it brightened her day.

I wish we still read paper books that are easier to share.  I miss checking out books from my friends.  I guess I should write down the books that they report about and go to the Library...now there's a thought. ☺

I enjoy these ladies and we have shared so much over the years.  Lot's of books and personal stuff.  Pretty much love my life!

PS ... Last Night I was called to serve as the first counselor in the Special Needs Activity Program.  I was even opposed by one of the gals. hahaha.....it made me laugh.  I really think she was opposing the release of the other leader but she did it when they asked if anyone opposed me. ☺  Funny...Funny!  I'm excited and know with all my heart that I am suppose to be serving here.  I feel very blessed!  I was also told that when the President was released I would move into that position.  This is not the norm in the Church but how they do it with the Special Needs.  It's good to be in the program for awhile since the people attending don't really like change.  So I will be serving with this group for at least another 3 years. YIPPEE!

Wednesday

Surprise!

These were outside my garage door when I drove up today!  I am such a lucky duck.  Larry says "I love and appreciate your support" with flowers.  I can't help but smile. ☺  I do not get tired of receiving flowers from my hubby!  I think he knows that by sending them I will support him through anything .... work and callings!  It sure is a pleasant reminder to be loving and supportive!

Tuesday

Taggarts

Welcome to Taggarts!  This is the sign we first saw when we pulled up to check what time they opened.  Today is April Fools however this sign is not a joke!
Taggarts is a fun place to go for lunch.  I think the peacocks are such a fun part of Taggarts.  Even the restrooms have cool rod iron peacocks in them.  I know the men's does too because it seems that I always go in the men's restroom when I am at Taggarts.  (it's the one that is empty when I need to go)  I realized that today was the first time I actually used the women's and that was after using the men's first.  The women's is a little brighter.  So there's a little info on the restrooms.

Mr Peacock was putting on quite the show today.  He was trying to impress the female peacock but she was not interested in him at all. (or so it seemed)  She kept moving away and wouldn't even look at him as he shook his feathers and  jiggled his rear.  It interested us and others from the restaurant.  I got a little crazy with my camera.  He is so beautiful and was strutting his stuff so much I couldn't help myself.  Isn't he gorgeous?
Lunch was wonderful.  It was so cool that Kim was able to come all the way from Logan to join us. Jodi and Kim are good sports for coming our way. I absolutely love these ladies!  We will have to accommodate them again soon.

Patti taught us about a sight that guides missionary parents in their travels if they decide to pick up their missionaries.  It sounded so good.  It was good info for Jodi since she has a missionary in Brazil that she wants to pick up.

Dave told us about a lady who showed her kindness.  Dave had a few things going on and while standing in a check out line rolled her eyes because the gal checking out seemed to be taking long.  I believe it was the next lady that was just ahead of Dave that looked at her and asked how her day was. Then after Dave made a comment the lady asked Dave if she needed a hug.  That in itself is a great kindness.  The lady was walking away and stopped and came back to Dave and put something in her hand and told Dave that she believed she needed this.  It ended up being a beautiful coin that said something about God knows and will help you through.  (not sure exactly how she put it but that was the jest)
Another wonderful part of Taggarts is their yummy treats.  I usually just admire how wonderful they look.  Occasionally I order a cookie.  The cookies are huge and last a few days.  Today I bought enough for my family. I figured since it was April Fools, I'd fool them by bringing them home a yummy treat.  Talking of yummy treats.....Jodi brought us mini powdered doughnuts for the drive.  I knew better than to try one because my cute friend is a prankster and I knew she came prepared.  I was right!  Kim tried one and ended up throwing it out the window.  Tee Hee.....Jodi had dusted them all with baking soda!  She's such a funny gal!
I didn't bring a Sunshine Bag today but I did bring a Sunshine Treat!  When the people came and sat at this table I only noticed this little boy.  I felt like he could use some added Sunshine.  He was so cute with such a big smile.....it was after I gave him the treat that I noticed he was the only boy.  I love spreading a little Sunshine every now and then.  It warms my soul as well!
It's a good thing my soul was warm because when we headed home Mother Nature had fooled us all!  It was a blizzard!  I had a hard time seeing and my windshield wipers were noisy and not clearing my window very well.  The roads were slushy and I was a tiny bit nervous.  The gals were kind and encouraging though.  Look how white it is outside....it wasn't like that going up.

It was a fun day and the weather cleared the closer I got to home.  My family loved the cookies even though I didn't remember to give them to them until the evening.  For some reason April is a favorite month of mine.
