I should have been "Playing"

I should have been "playing" with my fun friends at the theater tonight but my cough guided me instead.  I just couldn't imagine having a cough attack surrounded by people and not being able to get out. (I do pretty good but there are times I cough so hard I throw up...couldn't take the chance)  As far as I'm concerned I am better but others might no agree if my cough kicks in.  I figure I was sick for a week and that is all I'm giving to it. (my cough hasn't quite got the message that we spent enough time together but I am done)

I didn't want to stay home though because I have done that enough lately.  I figured Larry and I would do something but then a few choices came up.  Our friends, The Winters had called to hang out and so did Kamryn.  The Winters had initially called first but hadn't got back to us when Kam called.  Either way I knew we were not staying home.  If I got coughing I knew I would be able to leave.  Sue did get back to me and so we went to The Winters for dinner and to play games.  My kids went to watch movies with Kamryn and her family. (I love that Julie and Kevin include our families when they have a movie night...so thoughtful)
Alan loves to cook and so he cooked up some yummy fish and we enjoyed some wonderful fish taco's.  Then we played cards and had banana splits for dessert.  It was fun visiting with them and spending time with the Winters.  Alan's sister Debbie and her hubby came too and it was nice chatting with them.  I think Larry and Bishop (Debbie's hubby who's name I can't remember) chatted a lot about church stuff.  When this couple was first called we bumped into them at Cherry Hill's one night.  Debbie told me that she had been reading in her journal about that night and how much my words had helped her.  That made me feel good....that's probably why we "bumped" into each other.

The missionaries text Larry and wanted to come over and so we ended up leaving.  It was probably good though so Sue and Alan could visit with their family before it was too late.

Recipe

Since I made these this week I decided to share the recipe for these yummy Scotcharoo's.

Heat: 2 cups of Karo Syrup and 2 cups of sugar and bring to a boil.
Take off the stove and add: 2 cups of peanut butter and stir until well blended. (I like how everything is 2 cups...easy to remember)

Then add: 9 1/2 cups of Rice Krispies.  Stir well and spread on a big jelly roll pan.  (spray it first)

Melt: 1 lg bag of Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips and 1 lg bag of Butterscotch Chips.  I melt them in the microwave and it only takes a few minutes.

Spread over the rice krispies and put in the fridge until the chocolate sets up.

cut and enjoy!

I'm also going to share the Funeral Potato recipe I like.

I use canned potato's and try to keep them on hand.  I shred about four cans of potato's and put in a cake pan. (use more potato's if needed) (You could also just boil and peel potato's or use frozen ones)

Heat: 1 can of Cream of Chicken soup, 1/4 cup butter, 1 cup grated cheese, and 1 pt (2 cups) sour cream.  Stir until melted and smooth.

Pour over potato's and mix up.

I cover this with grated cheese and foil and bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes.  Easy and Fabulous!

about Me

Ever since I can remember I have been afraid of the dark.  For some reason when everything is dark the bad people come out and hide and try to get you.  That's what I grew up believing.

I hated to go downstairs to my bed if I was the only one going down there.  I would sit, it seemed for hours, on the stairs waiting for my siblings to join me.  I remember sleeping on a top bunk bed and being so afraid someone was going to break into our house and get me that I would move the mattress away from the wall so that I could fit between the mattress and the wall.  I would lay so still and try not to breath too heavily on many nights.

There were a few times I remember seeing "people" come down the stairs into our house.  One night before our bedrooms were finished I remember laying in a bed with my sister and hearing someone walking down the stairs.  (I might have been around 4 or 5) I leaned up on my elbow and I saw two guys and they saw me looking at them. They didn't seem scary.  One was tall, the other short and round.  They walked into the laundry room.  I watched and waited for them to come out of the laundry room.  I wasn't really afraid because I believed it was the "sand man" coming to put sand in my eyes so that I could sleep.  I never saw those two again.  Perhaps I made them up...perhaps they were spirits.
I don't like spook alleys or haunted houses unless it's at Disneyland.  I even hated the spook alleys that the primary did every Halloween for us.  I don't like being scared even when I know it's coming.  When I was in Junior High or maybe even High School I remember going to Lagoon and riding the "Horror Ride" with my sister.  It was a dumb ride and we were screaming just to be goofy.  The ride stopped and my sisters scream increased and was real.  I couldn't figure out why...and then "it" touched me!  Someone was in there with a gorilla suit and touched our head and shoulders.  It was a good scare and kind of funny because we knew it wasn't real.

The real stuff still scares me.  I still listen at night for the boogie man.  I imagine him sneaking into my home even now.  However now I realize there really are boogie men but they don't need doors to enter...and they seem to always come in the night.  I often have to wake Larry up because I can tell by his breathing that he is frightened and is having it out with the "boogie man".  I've had my fair share of those kind of experiences also and know that when bad spirits make a visit that we must be on the right track and they are trying to stop us.  However, if they don't visit that doesn't mean we aren't on the right track.  I had to pray for many years that I wouldn't have those kind of experiences anymore.  They are real but Heavenly Father and Jesus's light is also real and trumps everything else.
I still don't like the dark.  If I am somewhere, including my house, and someone turns all the lights out I will freeze in my spot.  I won't move unless it's down to try to make  myself smaller.  I try not to breath...I am still just as scared.  I would not have been able to handle the time in the scriptures when the earth was black for 3 days and nights.  I would have been one screaming....really probably not...I would have been still....very, very still.

Friday

All About Jared

Today my thoughts were about Jared.  Tonight he received his Patriarchal Blessing so today I fasted along with him and Larry.  It was easy for me and when I did think to get a drink I quickly remembered why I hadn't had a drink and said another little prayer for my son.

I love the inspiration that is given to Patriarchs.  Of course they prepare themselves to receive that inspiration.  I admire how they sacrifice for each of us. Tonight I admired Patriarch Thompson as he laid his hands on my baby's head and blessed him.  He was the mouthpiece of the Lord.  It was such a Spiritual Experience.

I have always wondered why Jared has been spared at times in this life.  It's because he has a great work to do.

The Patriarch taught Jared before his blessing in a simple and perfect way.  Each Patriarch has been perfect for each of our children.  It's been a blessing to have been able to have three different ones with our children.

I always smile after each childs blessing.  Being their parent we are blessed to know them so well.  I adore each of my kids and I am thankful that Jared was our last.  He's a great kid  to end on.

President Monson once explained, "A patriarchal blessing is a revelation to the recipient, even a white line down the middle of the road to protect, inspire, and motivate activity and righteousness.  A patriarchal blessing literally contains chapters from your book of eternal possibilities... (It) is your passport to peace in this life.  It is a Liahona of light to guide you unerringly to your heavenly home."

"Your patriarchal blessing will see you through the darkest night. It will guide you through life's dangers." Thomas S. Monson

I forgot to take picture until after when we went to eat.  Jared and Larry ordered huge, double cheese burgers and ate it all.   I'm thankful for this baby of mine.  He truly is a wonderful child and I am lucky to be his mom.

Food 4 Thought Friday

A little feast without the calories!!!
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Breakfast: What is your current favorite song? How Great Thou Art...it might not really be my favorite but I often find myself singing or humming it throughout the days.  I really like the Happy Song by Pharrell Williams too....it makes me Happy! :)

Lunch: What is something that can always brighten your day no matter what? A compliment from anyone.  It might come from a comment, a card, a text or said to my face.  Being told something nice works every time at Brightening my day

Dinner: What is something you feel like you have improved on the past week? Slowing down.  I have been sick and really haven't had a choice but to slow down.  I'm not sure I really enjoy it either.

Midnight Snack: If you could go back and change one thing this week, what would it be?  If I knew how I caught this yucky cold I would go back and not catch it.

Recipe of the Week:  (instead of your recipe for life what is it just for the week?)  Things Happen for a Reason.  We might not ever know the reason but I believe there always is one.  I wonder what I should be learning from being sick....patience?....simplifying?....tolerance?....compassion?  There's a reason I am down....I might figure it out....and I might not!

Thursday

Oh SNAP

I went bowling and high fived the others in the air.  I avoided the hugs that I usually desire and love.  I coughed in my napkin and arm.  I bowled better than I felt but we still lost all our games.  The team we were bowling was pretty closely matched to us and all the games were close but we had less points in all the games.  Oh well....I really do not care.  We try each week to do our best and for me that is good enough.

Carla and I decided to stop at the Drug Store on the way home for some cough syrup.  Even though I got a blessing last night from Larry and Jaydan and even though I expected to wake up feeling wonderful I was still coughing with a bunch of gunk in my throat.  I took the cough medicine as I got home and waited for the miracle.  The pharmacist told me the best cough syrup to get and said that is what he uses. (it was a Walgreen brand) He said it works fast and is good.  I couldn't really tell a difference at first.  I still coughed.  In fact...I coughed so hard I was throwing up.  With tears running down my cheeks I looked into the mirror and remembered the part of my blessing that commanded the sickness to leave my body.  I guess this is one way of leaving my body.  I really debated on going to SNAP.  I told Nikki I would give her a ride home and I knew that she had probably already got on the bus to go when I was questioning what to do.  I decided that I had better go just so I will know what is going on since we won't be having a production this year.  For some reason a production specialist never got called...or at least no one accepted the calling.  It's all fine we will adjust and everything will be perfect.
I put on a clean jacket that wasn't germy and went.  I didn't get real close to anyone and just tried keeping my distance.  Ryan...my buddy...didn't care though and came and sat by me and gave me a little hug. (he usually gives me a huge hug)  I told him that he'd better not get sick and he promised me he wouldn't.  He also told me that he would pray for me to get better.  I figured that is all I would need...sweet Ryan praying for me.  The girls watched a movie and I was sitting there amazed how good I felt when I felt a cough coming on.  I left the room and remained out in the hall the rest of the time.

I slept really good for the first time this week.  I only coughed a few times but nothing major.  Everything is working great together and I am getting better.

Wednesday

getting Cabin Fever

I have kept my calendar empty this week because of the crud that got me.  You'd think that I might enjoy the rest but really I don't.  I think I prefer getting up and going somewhere.  I don't really prefer getting up and doing too much in my home.  I don't really enjoy cleaning the same things over and over.  I do it when it needs done and could be better at organizing but I choose to leave it instead.  I'd rather visit with others and just get outside first thing in the morning.  I do enjoy relaxing in my home in the afternoon and evenings but something about being here all day every day gets to me.

I needed to go pick Ivy and Zaden up from school today and decided to see if Tammy was okay if I stopped by before I went. (I've been missing her)  Tammy and I are friends that just visit.  I drop by her house often and we just chat.  It's nice!  She was out running errands but would be home soon.  It was perfect for the time I had.  We had about an hour and it's just what I needed.  I love talking with Tammy and sharing our insights with each other.  I sure appreciate my good friend.

I got to enjoy my cute grands for about an hour before I had to go pick up Jared.  I had bought Pizza before picking up the kids because I know they are always hungry when they get done with school.  Hungry is right.  I watched Zaden eat 3 pieces of pizza and I'm sure that's how much Ivy ate as well.  It wasn't a lot of time with the grands but better than no time with them.  I also found out while I was talking to Trichelle on the phone that I gave her all my Rice Krispy molds....Hooray!  (she said I could borrow them anytime)

About the time I got home with Jared it was time to go to Kimleighel's Orchestra Concert.  Kimleighel loves her Cello and being in the Orchestra.  It makes her soul sing!  Kimleighel invited everyone to her concert (she always does) but because of busy lives usually it is just Larry and I who attend.  This concert Alexi came.  It was so wonderful seeing her cute face and hearing her compliment Kimleighel on how good she is.  She even brought Kimleighel flowers.  I know Alexi just topped the "favorite people" list of Kimleighel.  How sweet is that?

When we got home I asked Larry and Jaydan for a blessing.  This stuff is hanging on and I'm not liking it.  I'm just not use to feeling yucky!  I coughed all night and ended up going out to the couch to sleep so Larry could get some sleep.

Tuesday

We Worry

Bennett called me Monday night and nicely told me that him and mom worry about me.  He had called me while I was in Disneyland and just laughed when I told him where I was.  I really don't think at this age I need to keep my mom or brother posted on my whereabouts but apparently they would still like me to.  He was funny though and told me that he loved me and to be sure and call more.  He also let me know that he would be leaving soon to head back to Arkansas and from there to Texas to work.  I pulled myself together on Tuesday and took him some left over tortellini soup and some scotcheroo's.  Bennett loved the soup and the treats.  I love Bennett.

He has helped clean up the back yard a lot. He trimmed the apple tree and took down the green house my dad built.  He borrowed a trailer from Larry to haul stuff off and I'm sure my mom really appreciates all his help.  We didn't make it up much to see Bennett while he was here this time.  I'm thankful for the times we did get to visit with him though.  He is such a happy soul....one that has truly learned from his past.

we'd be friends

The last few days I haven't felt so good.  I really haven't felt like getting out unless I really need to. I sound worse than I feel. In fact I sound like I have a frog in my throat or maybe like an old man.  I'm sure others wouldn't appreciate me being around them.  I went bowling yesterday because I was asked to sub for a lady.  Today I would have gone to the Temple but really don't think sharing what I have with others would be so kind.  So, instead I have found myself sitting at the computer more and reading about others and their adventurous  lives.  I love the blogging world and the people you meet that you don't really meet.  I love how reading about others inspires me.  I wonder when others read about my life are they inspired.

It's fun reading about how others celebrate and do things.  The traditions they make and the fun memories they are keeping by writing it all down..blogging.  I love the feeling of really knowing some of the people I follow.  I feel like I know them.  Some are really good writers and express themselves so well and the pictures....some are really good photographers.  Sometimes I just go on their site and look at the pictures when I don't feel like taking the time to read the things they wrote.  Their pictures speak for themselves.

I know if I met some of the people I follow that I don't really know that we'd be friends.  I feel it...our souls are connected.  We believe in the same kind of things.  Family first and loving life.  Being Creative and Sharing with others.  I wonder how many people we really do influence without even knowing it.  The few ladies I caught up on today have no idea I follow them....and that I love them and their darling little families!

I was fortunate to meet one gal years ago that I followed and we were instantly friends.  She knew very little about me but I had read much about her.  I met Heather when Cindee (my wonderful friend) told me about this girls blog.  Cindee knew that I would love her blog and her.  She was right.  I followed Heather's blog for quite awhile without ever commenting.  Then one time she asked us followers to send a recipe card with a little about ourselves so that she would know a little about those following her.  I thought that was fair enough and sent her my card with a picture of my family.  Then I started commenting.  It's like...heck...now she knows me a little too...I can comment.  I was really drawn to Heather and suggested after some time that we meet for lunch.  Our first lunch lasted 3 hours.  Heather is just a few years older than Trichelle but I feel a great friendship with her.

A few years ago Heather invited me to be on her committee for the Festival of Trees.  I did it because it was her.  I'd do anything for Heather.  I love that Heather shares special moments with me and that I am remembered when she sends out cards and invitations.
I'm thankful for the people in this world that do so much good and influence many without even knowing it.  I'm thankful for the influence they have had on me!

Monday

still moving forward

I was asked to sub on Monday for Carla's Friday bowling team.  Since her and Robin were gone instead of pre-bowling they were getting together to bowl on Monday instead.  The captain of their team forgot she had a doctor appointment and so she called me to bowl.  I thought it would be a good thing to get me going.  I got up early and made Scotcheroo's because I meant to make them for Roger before we went to Disneyland and wanted to get them done right away.  Boy am I glad I had a plate sitting on the seat for Carla when she got in my car to ride to bowling.  Carla came out with two cute gift bags.  I figured one was for Kimleighel since Carla decided that instead of taking a shirt and jacket back that she didn't use for Disneyland she would give them to Kimleighel for her birthday.  (we had talked about that earlier and I told Carla that Kimi would love that and not think it was weird at all)  The red bag is the gift for Kimleighel!
The other bag was for me!  I can't say how nice Carla is to me.  She is always treating me to something and says I deserve it.  She said that this reminded her of Hawaii and wanted me to have it to get ready for our trip coming up very soon.  I love Coconut and Lime and I love Carla!
I'm not sure I've mentioned it on here but Carla and Roger are going with us to Hawaii.  While we were traveling to Disneyland it happened.  Carla told Roger to look for airline tickets and he did look and bought them.  I like spontaneous!  Larry and I are looking forward to showing Roger and Carla around our favorite Island.

Saturday

Finally...I meet Sadie Lou

I was so tired Saturday morning since we didn't get home until 2:00 am. but when Larry got up at 7:00 to feed I couldn't go back to sleep.  I was dying to go hold little Sadie.  What a sweet little child Sadie is.  So perfect and cute. Little Sadie has beautiful long fingers and long nail beds...she's pretty darn perfect! I was really glad I went early to see my newest grand because shortly after I started feeling sick.  I never get sick but........the cold and cough going around found me.
Since I was heading to Disneyland when Sadie was born I bought her a darling Princess frame.  I hope she will always know how much this gramma loves her even though I wasn't home for her birth.  I know I will be much more help in the weeks to come. :)  I'm thankful for my sweet grands!

Friday

On the Road Again

It was time to head back home.  I was excited because I wanted to see my newest grand.  No one was in much of a hurry though to get going.  It was decided that we wouldn't try to beat the traffic but go late enough to avoid it.  You do not avoid California traffic....ever!  We left about 10:30 and stopped by a Harley Davidson store so that Carla could get Roger a gift.  The store didn't open until 11:00 and so we browsed in another store until it did.  We got back on the road and went around a few blocks and we were right back at our Hotel....it kind of felt like a bad dream...you know the kind where you can never get to where you want to be.  Actually the traffic wasn't as bad as when we were coming to California from Vegas but it was noon and we were just leaving.

The drive home wasn't that bad though.  We talked a lot and stopped a few times.  We sat down for dinner in Mesquite at a Pizza Hut and that is were Carla and I took our last picture together.  Patti was an awesome driver and got us home safely.  I think we dropped off Patti and Robin just after 1:00 am and then we got home just before 2:00.  It was a super fun trip and the only thing that could have made it better is for Robin to have felt good the entire time.  It would have been fun to share the fun we had with a few more sisters but other than that is was Spectacular!

Food For Thought Friday

Food 4 Thought Friday!
A little feast without the calories!!
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Breakfast: What three things made you the Happiest this week? Going to Disneyland with my friends. The birth of Sadie Lou Ropelato...my 8th grand. Feeling like a kid again...no responsibilities.
Lunch: What three things made you the saddest this week? Braxton had a panic attack while Kelsi was giving birth to Sadie and I wasn't there to help out.  Robin took a weird combo of meds and was falling asleep during breakfast, and was sick on Thurs. That I wasn't able to see Sadie the day she was born.
Dinner: What are some of your quirks (name at least 10) that most people don't know? I like the toilet paper to go down the back of the roll and not over it.  I am constantly checking my chin for whiskers and then I try to pull them out with my fingers.  I pull Larry's eyebrows out when we are driving. I raise my left eyebrow when getting my picture taken. (it's droopy)  I find myself imitating others if they have a little quirk. Like if someone licks their lips, I will start licking my lips. I like to have a stash of chocolate and money. (it gives me peace of mind) I like the garbage in car to be put in the doors and emptied when getting gas. (not the pockets behind the seats) I have to shower and shave my legs and arm pits every day or I go crazy. (a reason I refuse to go on a Trek) I'd rather get things done right away if I'm assigned to do something and prefer my kids to do the same. (dislike procrastinating) I think out loud sometimes. (quite often)
Midnight Snack: Name a flattering moment this week and a not so flattering moment. Phoebe the Photographer came up to us in California Adventure and commented on how Carla and Robin looked so serious but how I was sitting there with a big smile and that I radiated Sunshine. Trying on shirts in Disneyland..not so flattering thus the reason I bought shoes!
Recipe of the Week (instead of your recipe for life what is it just for the week?) Live your life each and every day.  Don't worry about the things you might miss but enjoy the moment you are in and the blessings you have.

Thursday

California Adventure

Thursday was the day we saved for California Adventure.  Robin didn't come with us this day because she got sick during the night.  When we woke up she was shivering but hot to the touch.  We were all worried about her but knew there wasn't much any of us could do for her.  Carla offered to stay with her but Robin told us that would make her feel worse.  We checked on her throughout the day and she seemed to be getting better but never good enough to join us.  I was worried about Robin before we came because she had gone to the ER two weeks in a row because of blood clots. This was better than having that.  I was really glad we went to California Adventure on Monday so that Robin didn't miss it completely.  We headed straight for Cars Land to ride the cars.  There was a little wait but really not long for it being such a popular ride.  It was fun.  Patti and I took turns riding by ourselves.  Carla doesn't like being by herself and so we didn't make her.  I didn't mind though at all...except on the Toy Story ride.  I wish I had been sideways with Carla and Patti instead of back to back.  It would have been more fun but it was still fun.
I had received a text from Linda Love the night before and she wanted me to get her Jack Skeleton bag.  We were just browsing in a gift shop when Patti saw some pants and shirts with that logo on them.  She told me to look and then I heard: "Dawn Ropelato what are you doing here?"  It was Suzie Arave, my neighbor.  So funny.  I was looking up the text to show her so that she too could keep her eyes open for the bag and before I could pull up the text Patti had it.  As we talked to the gal ringing us up we noticed that she was from Liberty, UT.  Carla's brother and her brother were great friends...we couldn't help but say: "It really is a Small World After All."  Who'd of thought?  Carla is always saying that we can't go anywhere without me knowing someone. hahaha  I stuffed my purse into the bag I got for Linda and that is how I carried it around.  (I hope she won't mind)
I will ride any ride once and held to that.  Carla hated the California Screamin Roller Coaster.  The whole time she was screaming..."I hate it...I hate it!".  We went an saw Aladdin which was wonderful as usual and enjoyed a cute parade.  Speaking of parade...right in front of Carla and Patti was a lady sitting on the curb.  I was standing by the garbage can and so I didn't see what they did.  The lady had a butt crack at least 6 inches showing and didn't seem to know or care.  How do they NOT know?  Both Carla and Patti took a picture to share with their kids.  ☺
As we were sitting on a bench, Phoebe the Famous photographer came over to us.  We all lied and told her we knew who she was ....who is Phoebe the Famous Photographer?  There was also another lady walking around with a puppet dog and we didn't know who she was either...maybe she is Phoebe's friend.  Anyway, Phoebe came over and made my day.  She said look at you ladies.  These two look so serious and there you are right between them with a big smile.  She continued to say that I was like a light or ray of Sunshine!  Comments like that make me want to continue smiling.

This week was fast and fun!

Wednesday

Universal Studio

Since we added another day we decided to go to Universal Studio's too.  We went on Wednesday and it sure was fun.  I love how they have characters everywhere.  Count Dracula greeted us and got a little cozy with Patti and Carla. These people are good.  They know what to say and how to pose.  It was so fun for me.
The rides were fun...or at least most of them.  I don't care for the ones that really jerk you around. I liked the Incredibles!  The Mummy ride didn't make it on my list of fun rides.  Neither Carla or I cared for it but I think Patti and Robin loved it.  It was a roller coaster that jerked and even went backwards.  Motion Sickness Hit Me! We played Heads Up while we waited in line and that made waiting much more fun. I think we all enjoyed the shows...The Animal Show and Water World were both really enjoyable.  I really liked the Movie Tour ride.  It's very informative and cool.  I loved driving around the lots and learning about all the movies that have been filmed there.  We saw a commercial being filmed as we passed quietly by.
I'm glad we took the time to visit here as well.  It was a lot of fun.  I hadn't been to Universal for many years and it had changed a bunch.  So cool....clever, clever people!

Tuesday

Disneyland

Tuesday morning the park didn't open until later and so we didn't have to rush to get going.  We enjoyed a nice breakfast at the hotel and then headed over to Disneyland.  I was so excited to be going to the Happiest Place on Earth with my friends.  I really wish a few more could have came with us but it worked out great.  The inner child in me was a very happy child! ☺  I felt like skipping and would have loved meeting more of the characters but the others weren't as interested so I just waved to the characters as we walked by.  (some times I wonder if the face behind those cute costumes is an ugly one)  We were able to do absolutely everything that we wanted to.  We rode what we wanted and looked all around.  I even bought me some cute Mickey Mouse shoes.  I had only taken one pair of shoes and so I just bought them without thinking too much about it.  I think they are cute and they make me smile.
We had a great time in Toon Town and especially Mickey's House.  The crowds weren't bad and the weather was nice and so all in all it was pretty perfect.  We laughed and ate and shopped and took lots of pictures to help us remember.
We had such a fun day but I'm not going to lie...I was tired by the end of it.  The park closed earlier and I was kind of glad about that.  We weren't cheated and I was able to push myself as much as I needed to.  The walk back to the Hotel seemed so far until we started walking and then it never did.  We were blessed to be so close.
I kept thinking about what a wonderful guy Larry is.  He works so hard for our entire family and is so good to let me go with my friends when he would also enjoy going.  I feel very blessed.  It was Larry who actually got the ball rolling after I told him that I wanted to go to Disneyland with my friends.  He suggested the days and got me some $$$.  Again he is the one that made my dream come true!  I sure do love my Larry.

Monday

Little Miss Sadie Lou

While I was sleeping or trying to sleep, I received a few texts saying that Sadie was going to make her entrance into this world really soon.  I was excited.  I know that Braxton and Kelsi were anxious to meet her and get her here.  An hour after Sadie was born I got a text from Kelsi's mom, Mary Lou.  She told me that Sadie was here and her stats. Born at 4:16.  Weighing 5 lbs 7 oz and 18 in long. She also told me that Braxton wasn't doing well and was in the ER.  Only then did I feel bad for not being there.  I never imagined that anything would go wrong and especially with Braxton. I guess he was having a Panic Attack and was light headed and weak.  I felt sad for my son.  I was glad that Kelsi's parents were there taking care of all of them.  I wouldn't have been there even had I been home but could have gone up when they started having issues.  I assumed Larry knew things were happening but he didn't have a clue about anything until I called and talked to him that morning.

No one had said anything about Kelsi and so I asked if she was okay.  She was doing good but did have a little issue getting rid of the placenta.  It tore and wouldn't come out like it should have.  Everything turned out fine though except Braxton was still having troubles.  He ended up going with his in laws to the grandma's house to spend the night.  I felt bad for all of them but knew they were all being taken care of.  I kept reminding myself that life continues with or without you.  I really wouldn't have been much help.  Since Mary Lou was here I wanted to let her have her time with the kids and her new little grand because I will get to see them often. It all works out!
Larry usually doesn't care about holding the little ones but I think since I wasn't there he decided he had better.  I love this picture of the two of them.  I'm glad that Larry  was home and was able to help with Braxton a little.  I'm glad that Sadie got here safe and sound.  I'm really glad for the families that my kids have married into.  I feel like every family is so good and for the most part takes care of my kids.
Braxton was left watching Sadie one day when they got home and he did a little photo shoot with her.  He had her surrounded by deer horns and covered with a fox pelt.  The other grandma didn't find that amusing but I did. Braxton would never hurt his child but he will include her in the things he loves.  I think little Sadie is so darling and sweet even with horns around her and a fox on top of her. (the fox is really soft)

I am glad that our phones let us text and send pictures.  Even though I was away I felt like I was included.  Oh Happy Happy Day!

Sunday

We're Off to Disneyland

We were up and loaded for our fun get away on Sunday just after 9:30 am.  As I document this I wonder why we didn't get up and going on our way home.  (more on that later)  Carla picked me up and then we picked up our driver, Patti. (Patti drove Carla's car and did a fantastic job) Last but not least we got Robin and we were off!  Carla wanted to spend one night in Vegas because she likes to gamble. Originally we were going to leave Monday and drive straight through.  It was a good idea to do it like we did because we were able to add Universal Studio to our trip. I couldn't complain and didn't because this was "our" trip and we wanted to accommodate everyone.  Robin got us a hotel a little ways away from the strip.  It was nice and not too costly.  Robin loves Bingo and so Patti and I joined her.  Carla didn't really enjoy gambling this time because she wasn't winning.  She likes to play when you win and can continue playing on that money.  Patti did come out ahead.  I didn't put any money down...I don't like gambling.

During the night I received some texts saying that the kids were in the Hospital again but this time they were staying.  Kelsi was doing everything right and progress was being made.  Little Sadie finally came at 4:16.  She only weighed 5 lbs 7 oz and was 18 1/2 inches long.  More about her story on her post.
We weren't really worried about getting up too early because had all day to visit Disneyland with our 3 day hopper pass.

We went down and got some breakfast before leaving and Robin scared us all.  She was eating and falling asleep while she ate.  I think she might have taken some medication twice without knowing it.  She was a little woozy.  We took care of her and the long drive was good for her so she could sleep it off. (she hasn't been feeling good but decided to come anyway...which we are all glad)

I am not a wonderful traveler when it comes to holding my bladder.  I need to stop every now and then.  Carla refuses to use public restrooms.  Anyway I was feeling the urge when I saw a little town and Patti said that she just noticed the sign for the rest stop which was about 30 miles.  I thought I could wait for the rest stop.  It wasn't funny when we came to the rest stop to find it blocked off and closed.  Yikes...by now I was really needing to go.  Barstow was at least another 30 minutes and I didn't think I could make it that far.  When I gotta go, I really gotta go.  We finally came to an exit that had one little gas station.  We had to stop.  When we went inside there was a line of about 30 people.  Oh my goodness!  It was still better standing in a line knowing that my turn would come.  There were signs in the store that said the restrooms were for paying costumers.  I bought a few treats and holy cow they were expensive.  Two to three times what they should have cost.  Oh well...I was glad to spend whatever for that potty break.
We hit traffic and boy did it slow us down.  What should have been a few hours ended up taking us 2-3 more hours.  It was fine though we weren't worried about the time.  We checked into our Hotel which was just across the street from the back side of California Adventure.  We went over and got our passes and headed to California adventure.  We went straight to The Tower of Terror.  I think that must be Robin's favorite ride.  The place was packed since it was President's Day...but it was also open until midnight so we were able to do a lot.  We did a few things on the Adventure side and then went over to Disneyland which was less crowded.  We rode a few more rides and walked around.
The Castle was covered as well as It's a Small World.  So strange seeing that and kind of disappointing.  I guess they need to do this every once in awhile though to keep things up and looking good.
We watched the fireworks and had a great time.  I think we stayed until closing and so we were a bit tired by the time we got back to our room.  We did plenty of exercising this entire week. I thought the weather was perfect.  Carla thought it was a little cold.  She dressed in layers and sometimes used one of our jackets as well. (skinny people aren't insulated)

Something a little bit funny but also kind of sad is that Robin talks in her sleep.  Every single night but the last night was the worst.  I think she was scared and ticked off.  Robin doesn't mumble...you can understand her quite well.  Bless her heart! ♥

Love Is In The Air Meme

Love, to you.

Define love in your own words.  Love is caring for something deeply.
What do you want in a relationship? To be loved and cherished more than another!
What do you contribute to a relationship? Fun! I take care of others and their needs the best I can.

Currently.....
Do you have a Valentine? I have two.  Larry will always be my Valentine and we were blessed with Jaydan in 1991 and so he will also always be my Valentine!
Describe the perfect V-day date in your opinion: I love celebrating Jaydan.  I do love when Larry sends me flowers and gives me chocolate.  Going out to dinner is always nice too.
Dream Date? I enjoy about everything and don't really dream of doing more than we do.  I have even enjoyed a walk in our field checking on cows because I was with Larry.  Anything when you get time and attention.
What is your crush's name? Larry Joe Ropelato
Do you believe in love at first sight? Sure...I believe it happens and why not?  When you like something you know it.  I know it doesn't happen all the time.  I know it didn't for Larry or I.  Our love developed as we got to know each other better as is true with anyone I guess.  We found each other attractive but I  don't think it was love at first sight.

This or that
Chocolates or Flowers....you must pick one! If it's from Larry I prefer flowers since I seldom buy myself flowers but quite often buy myself chocolate.
A short kiss or a big hug? I love hugs!
Cute and dimwitted, or Average and brilliant? Average and brilliant.  The brilliant side makes them cute. ☺

Micellanious
Turn-ons? compliments and attention!
Turn-offs? paying attention to someone else while I'm around.
What thing should a guy never say to you? That he's thinking of someone else. (another gal)
How do you feel about kissing on the first date? To each their own.  I cherished my kisses and gave them away only when I felt something for the person I was sharing them with.

♥A Day of Love♥

Boy today was busy.  I had lots of laundry to do before taking Jared to his basketball game.  I didn't finish it until the evening.  Then I ran to get Jaydan some new garments for his birthday since his are pretty old.  The roads were packed and it took me forever to turn around.  I thought the distribution center was still at the Deseret Industries but it's not.  A lady told me to go left at the light and then it would be on the right hand side.  I was in the left lane and could see Deseret book on the right side of the light.  It took me 10 minutes to turn around and get through the light and to the store.  I needed to run to a baby shower and barely had time.  I really got there a little late but called to let them know I was coming.  I do not like crowds...especially crowded roads.
When I got home Larry, Jared, Kimleighel and I went to deliver the grands a valentine.  I text them all to see if they were home and they all were.  I was surprised and glad.  We got big hugs from all of them except little Jordyn.  She is sick and Larry ended up helping Kevin give her a blessing.  Poor little thing.  I do not like seeing my little's sick.  I think my grands are all so cute!  They surely make this gramma's heart smile!
Bennett is working in SLC and is staying with my mom and so we went to visit them for a little bit.  They were going to go to dinner and we needed to get home to make dinner so a short visit was perfect for all of us.  I sure do enjoy my little brother.  It's so good to have him around.
Since it's Jaydan's birthday we fixed some of his favorite things.  I don't do fancy because we all hate cleaning up afterwards. (I would like to though if I had the room for cute plates and serving dishes.)   We had steak, tortellini, alfredo and marinara sauce and red jello.  Jaydan wanted strawberry lemonade to drink and we had raspberry cheesecake for dessert.  It was yummy
After dinner Jaydan opened his presents and then went to the Jazz game.  He got a bunch of new garments and two remote control helicopters.  I am hoping that he will let Jared play with one...that's why he got two.  I didn't think it would be much fun flying one by yourself.  We will see what happens.  I might be buying Jared one of his own.
I don't usually do too much for Valentines because I try to keep the focus on Jaydan but the kids usually get some kind of Valentine treat with their "red" dinner!

This week has been busy and I am really excited to leave town for a week.  I just need to relax in a tub now with the candle burning that Carla gave me and use the peppermint body wash and lotion to help get me ready.

Sadie will be born while I am gone.  I believe Kelsi is going to get started on Monday.  I will be looking forward to receiving texts with pictures.  I will keep them in my prayers.  I'm excited for Braxton to be a daddy....he is too!  He's a darling husband and will be a terrific daddy.  Life just keeps getting better!♥♥♥
