I get confused on knowing when helping is enabling. I'm a mom and I want to help my kids but I have learned that sometimes NOT helping is the biggest help of all. The reason this thought even came up is because Kimi "earned" some Science Packets and wants me to help her. In order for Kimi to "clip" Science she was required to get a B or better in reading. When I got notices saying her grade was lower than a B and I tried talking to Kimi about it she told me she knew and had it covered. I reminded her she would get a packet that cost $35. I also reminded her that I would not pay for it or help her with it. The packet would require lots of reading and comprehending which is Kimi's weakness. She knew!!! So I let her handle it and she earned 2 packets....each $35. She didn't complain about having to pay for her packets but she needs help and I don't know how much to help her. She's also on a time limit. I have said it many times and I will say it again....."I hate homework". I didn't mind when it was mine but I get frustrated that I am still doing it....or at least expected to help with it.
I tried thinking "what would Jesus do?" I can honestly say "I don't know!" I could see him making her pay the consequence of her choice and actions......but I can also see him helping her out. I know I will help her out because she really does need it. I hate the fact that you can buy your grade! Ugh....so frustrated!

Boating on Memorial Day
I enjoy Memorial Day Weekend. I appreciate all the men & women who have fought for our freedoms! I appreciate all my friends and family that have passed on and left their mark on me. I am grateful for all the people that influence my life....I have a great life.
I love being able to spend time with my family. I am glad that they enjoy spending time together also. It's so fun being in our boat so close together just enjoying each other. I always laugh a lot while we boat. My kids crack me up but so do the grands. The boys wanted to throw Julie in and Natalie told Mya to go tell the boys to be nice. Mya looked at her mom and said: "Julie can handle it." Kam just teases like crazy. They are all so witty. I think that's just part of being a Ropelato.....you need to be witty!
The first time out is usually cold. Today there was snow on the mountains. There has been the last few years but we don't let that stop us. The kids come prepared and have a good time anyway.
The little ones enjoy each other so much. I love watching them together.
When it's cold we do a lot more relaxing in the boat. It's nice to stop and pull out the snacks and drinks and just visit or enjoy the sunshine. In truth no matter what we do I am always tired when we are done.
We missed Trichelle and her family since they went out of town. The boat would have fit them but seemed full anyway. I think we might have to start finding a beach since our family is growing. Bring it on though....we love every new addition.
What a fun day! What a fun family! What a fun hobby!
I must add that on days like this I love my hubby even more. I love that he makes it all happen for all of us! What a fun Hubby!!!

Princess and the Frog
Today we had a Bridal Shower for Julie! We went with the Princess and the Frog theme. Julie was a good sport and wore her crown the whole time! (Our Princess) I must say I am really pleased that Kevin chose Julie to spend Eternity with. I love this girl!!! (so far so good on the kids we have got as bonus's)
It's fun having older kids help out with the showers. Trichelle and Natalie are quite domesticated. I really appreciate all their help.....all the time! Oh....I love my kids.
We had a really good turn out for it being Memorial Weekend. I was happy for everyone that took the time to come and shower Julie with gifts to help her get started with her new life. It was a recipe shower and so Julie has a lot of good recipes to start her out. She got a big variety that was really nice.
It was so fun seeing everyone! I love my friends and family! I am so blessed with so many wonderful, supportive people. (yep~I feel loved!)
Our whole family is excited to have Julie and Kamryn join our family. They fit in quite perfectly and we love them to pieces. (oops got a little teary just typing that) Oh....this is a great life!
