Sunday

Natalie's 30

Today is Natalie's birthday and she is now 30.  Justin said his week was crazy and asked if it would be okay to have some friends over after our family dinner.  I told him that would be great.  He got things organized and everything ready.  He had picked up a cake and some ice cream and brought it down early on Saturday.  He had asked Trichelle and Julie to be over that decorating.  They did a good job and it looked really cute.  Natalie made cheese cake too because that's her favorite.  Natalie came down with Mya and Parker and left Justin and Macie home.  Macie has hand/foot/mouth and didn't want to share it.  I felt bad and was going to volunteer to go stay with Macie but I am tending Sadie for a week while her parents are in Hawaii and I was afraid of picking up the virus and passing it to Sadie.  Larry decided that he would go and that when he got home he'd just shower and change clothes.  He's not as involved with the grands as far as holding them and so I agreed with him.  When he got to Justin's instead of staying he was able to bring Justin home with him.  Justin had asked our sweet Cindee to come watch Macie.  Cindee watched our kids when they were young and has worked for Larry since she was sixteen and our family adores her. I was glad that Justin thought to ask Cindee and she was too.  Cindee is so awesome!
Natalie was surprised and she even wiped a tear away.  I wiped a few tears away as well.  Justin told me that when he asked Natalie what she wanted this year she told him she just wanted to feel appreciated.  WooHoo...Justin had that covered and was relived that he had nailed it.  It was fun having Natalie's sisters and their families come.  I like Natalie's family and being around them.  They are good people.  About the time the sisters left some more friends showed up.  We found out that Justin had text people different times.  He got his address and our address confused in most of the texts too but everyone found us.

It was fun celebrating Natalie.  We are so glad that Natalie is in our family.  She is such a wonderful gal.  When it comes to cooking or baking we turn to Natalie.  She is so good to Justin and their little's and for that I am very happy.  I was right when I suggested for Justin to date her.  Natalie is a keeper!

Saturday

"Play"ing Around...The Nerd

I was nervous about driving to Orem tonight because of all the snow we have been getting.  It ended up being nice when it was time to go and the roads were still clear when we came home.  I went and bought some more Hostess Snowballs and we had a little snowball fight in the car before we left.  That way everyone had a treat for intermission as well.

I'm glad we didn't miss this play.  It was hilarious and the actors were so great.  I really wish I had thought sooner so that Barbie would have said something earlier because it would have been funny for us all to come in Nerd Glasses.  A kid in front of us didn't forget and it was funny!

We went to a little Sandwich Shop before and I was the last one to order and had to choose which table to sit at because their wasn't a table big enough for the six of us.  Barbie, Heather and Natalie were at one and Carol and Cari were at the other.  It really was obvious that I should sit with Carol and Cari since they were sitting side by side like a couple and there were two empty chairs in front of them but I didn't.  I sat in the empty chair by Natalie.  It wasn't long before Cari moved across from Carol. ☺  Before we were completely finished a musician asked Carol and Cari to move because he was going to set up there.  First they get left sitting side by side and then they get booted out...it was funny and I'm glad they have "thick skin"...(those were Carols words.)

From the beginning of the play I thought the "Nerd" sounded familiar.  I realized a  while later that his voice reminded me of Daniel from Special Needs.  His expressions were very similar too.  We had a good time.  I love "Play"ing with these cute ladies!

Gramma.....want to come with us?

I knew Trichelle was coming to take Kimleighel to get their eyebrows done and I was thrilled when Ivy came in and asked me if I wanted to join them!  I jump at every chance I get to be with my kids if circumstances permit me to.  I left what I was doing and went right out.  We didn't do much else but the time it took to drive to the Mall and back was nice to have.  The technique used on the brows was pretty cool.  The technician had string around her fingers and in her mouth.  She moved it around and it takes the unwanted hair out.  It was fascinating to me.  The gal is fast too and the girls eyebrows looked so precise and good.  Trichelle and Kimleighel got their dads genes for brows.  They have to have theirs cleaned up and I have to tattoo mine on.  I think my girls are beautiful.  I loved spending that hour or so with Trichelle and her kids.  I was happy that the grands wanted to stay and play.  We even let them spend the night.  I hope they will always want to come hang out at our house.  I can't help but think...."It's the little things in life that matter!"

Friday

Hooper Honey's

Sometimes when I leave my friends I regret some of the things I said.  Our conversations replay in my mind and I think: "I shouldn't have commented" but by then it's too late.  Today we were talking about some challenges of our kids and the thought came to me and out my mouth...."that is their challenge and we just need to love them and help them through it."  My "Natalie" had told me that when they found out Macie was coming to us with a cleft lip and pallet.  Even though it is Macie's challenge it does affect her parents and even the rest of us to some point.  Our kids are part of us and so they are forever connected and when they hurt or struggle we experience heartache too.  I believe these things but worry that I might have come across some other way than I intended.  Hopefully my friends know me well enough to understand what I meant when I said it.  I would never want to offend or hurt my friends.  I admire these gals!  They are all so strong and are doing well with their challenges.  They help me to be better and I hope that I can do the same for them.

We went to Sweet Bee's Bakery in Fruit Heights and the GPS on my car doesn't know how to get there. ☺ It got us close and we were still on time but it send us way north of where we needed to be.  (Kari came with me)  I even entered the address twice because I was worried about the South and North.  I like GPS but don't trust them completely for this reason. (I might be the problem...I know that)

I took Hostess Snowballs and we had a little Snowball fight.  We have a lot of snow and we may as well be celebrating it right?  Tammy  used her snowballs for "other things". ☺haha We sure have a lot of fun together.  I'm glad we are starting a New Year and starting our lunch dates again.  I always look forward to being with my friends.  I love My Hooper Honey's!

 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Breakfast ~ What is something you eat a lot? Pasta and Sweets

Lunch ~ Name something you should have never done. Thrown my right hip out to hold little kids on when I was young.  I made my back crooked and have back aches often now because of it. Name something you wish you would have done.  I wish I would have went to a chiropractor  to get it straightened.  I wish I would have used moisture cream when I didn't need it.
Dinner ~ What is your alter ego? I think I'd say a dancer on Broadway.  When I watch awesome dancers it moves my soul and I really wish that I could be one of them. (sometimes I think I might have been in another life...even a "black dancer"....they're beautiful)

Midnight Snack ~ What is the last thing you lost? some glassed that I wear at night when I don't have my contact in. (they use to be Trichelle's but work pretty good for me)  I couldn't find them for about a week and even said a prayer asking for help in finding them.  I was holding some things with my knees reaching for a hoodie shirt and something dropped on the floor.  There were the glasses...dropped right down from Heaven. (I'm pretty sure they had been in the hoodie pocket)

Recipe for the Week ~ (instead of your recipe for life, what is it just for the week?) Don't Give Up!  We all get hard days and have hard things that affect our lives but we must never give up.  You didn't come this far only to come this far!

Thursday

busy thursday

When I was with my Bonneville Buds last night I got a text with a picture of two candy bars.  It didn't hit me until I got home why Larry would send me a picture of candy bars.  Kevin and Julie's twins are a girl and a boy!  Woo Hoo ....so very happy and excited!

I love Thursdays.  I get up and ready and go bowling.  Today I had a hard time knocking down the pins I didn't get with the first ball.  Not sure what my problem was since the others didn't seem to be having much of a problem.  I was kind of feeling bad that I was 20 or more pins under my average until I thought about the other team beating us close to 100 pins each game.  (they did lots better than their averages)  Another 20 pins wouldn't have made a big difference and so I didn't let it get to me.  I love bowling because it's a form of exercise that's fun and there are lots of great ladies I get to see and visit with each week.  So maybe I should restate that and say I love to GO bowling instead of I love bowling.  Some of my hero's are at bowling every Thursday.  I admire my older friends that have the strength and energy to throw those balls down the lanes.  There are some pretty amazing ladies out there.  I like the hugs I get too....Sylvia gives the best hugs!  So many ladies find Sylvia every week to get one of her hugs.

After bowling I had a short break and then went to Daughters of Utah Pioneers.  It was interesting and I enjoy listening to stories told of pioneers.  There are so many interesting things told each month at our meetings. They talked about steam boats today. I really like getting to know the ladies in this group as well.  They are all so nice.

I didn't have a whole lot of time before it was time to go to SNAP.  I had to run to the phone store and give permission for my kids to be added to our plan and make some changes since I wasn't able to go with them tonight.  I decided that since I didn't have much time I would just make hash browns and french toast for dinner.

I had just enough time to hug and kiss Larry before leaving for SNAP.  I picked up Barbie and Karleigh for SNAP.  I enjoy visiting on the way.  It's so much nicer than driving by myself.  I made a few of the participants crack up tonight.  We started learning a song for the Production and I got a little tongue tied.  Ryan was on my left and Samantha was on my right and they both bust a gut laughing at me.  I was glad that I could make them laugh.  haha ☺

I was over the activity tonight and wanted to play Bingo but came up with a "Life Skill" that we could tie in with playing Bingo.  We talked about Sportsmanship.  How it's important to be a good sport in everything.  How it's important to be a good sport when you win or loose.  The girls had some good input and then we played Bingo.  They were all really good sports.  At the end of the night I asked them what they had learned.  There was more learned that I had planned on learning. Their responses included: sportsmanship, sharing, kindness, love, helping each other, caring.  I was please that all those things were noticed.  Girls were helping others close to them that needed help.  If they had already won a treat they chose someone who hadn't.  I turned out good and everyone had a great time.

Barbie shared a little story with me about my 2nd counselor that I want to remember.  While I was on the cruise Dyan was in charge of the activity.  In the prayer meeting that we have before opening exercised Dyan leaned over to Barbie and said he thought she might be over that activity but had forgotten until right then.  Barbie confirmed that she was over it and Dyan said no worries...just give me a minute.  Barbie said that if she hadn't known that Dyan had forgot that she would have thought she spent lots of time preparing.  She used the chalkboard and talked about resolutions, which included healthy eating and exercise.  She made a little coarse that the girls went around and had them exercise at different points along the way.  I love the women I work with...they are awesome!

Wednesday

Bonneville Buds

I had a great dinner date with my Bonneville Buds.  Five of us have known each other since Elementary School.  Oh the memories I cherish and have of these ladies are treasures to me.  The other gals are from Jr. High and High School.  It's so fun visiting with everyone now.  It doesn't matter any more what group you were in.....we all fit in now!  We have all experienced a lot along our individual journeys and it fun sharing and hearing of others journeys.  They are all so very different and we all have turned out pretty good.

After closing down the place a few of us stood in the parking lot and continued visiting while freezing our bottoms off. (that's why older people don't have cute bottoms...we freeze them off)  I was a Popsicle even after driving home....it took me so long to get warm.  I was so cold Larry wouldn't even snuggle with me.

It was so enjoyable and I'm so glad all these ladies could make it.  There were a few others that had been planning on it but had things come up to change that and they were missed.  Oh how I cherish friendships!
Bottom Row: Sharon Evans, Lael Shupe, Teri Adams, Kelli Poole.
Top Row: Me, Lynn Halpin, Lisa VanNatter, and Mindy Peterson! (I used maiden names)

Earlier in the day I went to my moms just to check on her. She leaned over and asked me what I was doing there.....funny lady.  I told her I was just there to visit and so we sat down to visit.  While we were visiting she told me that I had won $14 on the lotto ticket my brother had bought for me and he had sent it to her.  He didn't even take the money out that it cost him for the ticket....I'm feeling like a lucky duck.

Tuesday

Temple Tuesday aka Tuesdays with Larry

Since Sunday this thought has been strong on my mind.  It ISN"T always easy to follow the promptings of the Spirit.  I shared an experience because the Spirit told me I should of when I was prompted to take something to a gal I only knew from others.  We had never met or talked face to face.  We only knew each other from friends and face book.  I had noticed from a post of hers that she was sad and upset.  I felt bad but it wasn't really my place to help....or so I thought.  I was busy doing things and the Spirit whispered that I should take her something...anything...but go to her.  I absolutely did not want to.  I had some good reasons too.  She doesn't even know me, I will feel weird, I don't even know what she likes.  The Spirit didn't give up.  It reminded me of the time my nephew called me to tell me that I was appreciated and loved.  My nephew had never called me before or since and I knew his message that day was from God.  I'm sure there were plenty of people close to me that had been telling me those same things but when Bryce called I recognized that he was following the Spirit and was speaking for God.  So, maybe God was using me this time so that this gal would know that her prayers were being heard and that God was answering them.  I decided I would but was still feeling really uncomfortable.  I still wasn't sure what to take her or really do.  I started looking around at what I had at home.  I had some treats and a little sign that said something about faith.  Now I think there was a specific reason I even bought that sign....God knew I was going to need it.  I sat down and wrote her a little note.  I shared with her my little experience with Bryce and told her even though I didn't know what she was going through God did!  I drove to her work breathing hard and nervous as ever.  I found her and handed her the gift and quickly walked away.  Thank goodness she was busy....maybe that was an answer to my prayers.  I really did feel pretty dumb as I got in my car and returned home.  I knew I had followed a prompting and that I was being used as God's instrument but that really wasn't a huge comfort at the time.  The comfort and peace came when this gal thanked me and was appreciative for my actions.  Months later she sent me another little reminder saying that the sign I had given her was hanging in her bathroom and that she looked at it every day.  Whew....I am really glad I wasn't completely stubborn that day.

I had another awkward experience giving a friend a Book of Mormon.  Again the Spirit told me that I should.  I was totally against it.  My friend wasn't even close to being religious and I knew the Book of Mormon wouldn't be opened, let alone read.  The feeling that I should didn't leave and so after months of putting it off I bought a Book of Mormon and had the name printed on the cover and wrapped it and left it on the porch with a little note inside.  I was chicken and figured I was getting it to them even if I was just leaving it on the porch.  My friend told me that it meant so much and that when the book was opened it was brought to their chest and hugged.  I was also told later that my friend didn't plan on reading any of it but it was nice to have. hahaha....sometimes I wonder if I should send a scripture for them to turn to and read.  At least that way it might get opened and glanced at.  That thought isn't as strong though and so until it is I probably wont.

So, sometimes I believe we think that following the promptings of the Spirit should be easy and make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside and I'm just here to say that is not so!  God takes us out of our comfort zone to strengthen and challenge us.  I remember another time when Jaydan was a newborn and we were prompted to ask a neighbor if the missionaries could come teach them.  Again I did not want to.  This cute little family were religious and so good already and I didn't want them to think I thought any different.  I couldn't deny the answers to my prayers though.  There was a "catch" to the answer of my prayer.  Jaydan had some kind of bubble in his throat that needed to be surgically removed so he could eat and breathe better.  We were praying that he wouldn't need surgery and asked Heavenly Father if there was anything we could do so it wouldn't have to happen.  I remember sitting in the Temple and reading from the scriptures and every scripture seemed to speak about missionary work.  I noticed this and so I closed the scriptures and let them plop open and then I would read again.....the same thing continued to happen.  I did it several times because it was fascinating me.  I knew who we needed to talk to but both Larry and I were feeling chicken.  We waited until the night before we needed to take Jaydan to the doctor to make our visit.  The family was cute and nicely declined our invitation.  They even seemed to still like us and I didn't feel like our friendship was altered.  They didn't even accept and God knew they wouldn't but He was testing Larry and I.  The next day at the doctor we were told of the miracle that had happened.  The bubble that had been blocking most of Jaydan's throat was barely even visible and he didn't need the surgery.

There are many times I know that I have not followed the Spirit.  Usually it's because I am not comfortable doing what I am asked.  I worry too much about me feeling dumb.  A turning point for me recognizing and following the Spirit happened many years ago.  It was winter and it was cold.  I was driving home and noticed a car off to the side of the road and just past the car and young gal was walking.  I offered to take her home and she was happy to let me....then the Spirit said....go put gas in that car.  The gal wouldn't have seen me because she was home but I thought no way she will know who it was.  Like knowing who is was was some kind of bad thing.  Actually the gal didn't even know me and I didn't know her but I didn't put gas in the car and felt terrible ever since.  I think this experience was good for me because I never wanted to feel that way again after feeling prompted to do something and recognizing the prompting.

Just a Few Thoughts.....I hope that by sharing my thoughts and experiences that I am able to help others in some small way.

Kimi brought Behr over today so I could love on him.  He really prefers Kimi and didn't take his eyes off her.  What a wonderful blessing baby Behr is to our family.
Larry and I went to the Temple like we usually do on Tuesday afternoons.  I love the Temple and Larry.  I had prepared dinner this afternoon and Kimi had it hot and ready when we got home.  We didn't go out to eat because the missionaries were coming to visit us.  I also love missionaries.

Monday

Fun Bunch Lunch

Well four of us showed up today and it was nice visiting with those that came.  I know we talked a lot but I can't remember now what we talked about.  I know we didn't mention Christmas because I wanted to hear about Jodi's new Harp.  I do remember Patti telling us that she went snow shoeing for her first time and really enjoyed it even though it wore her out.  I know we talked about New Orleans and Cruises. Jodi has finally convinced her hubby to go on one in May.  They are going to love it.  Oh and I now remember talking about friends whose kids have made poor decisions.  How it's hard to have people that we love and care about hurt and make mistakes.  Even when the mistake is huge and against the law I still believe people should be forgiven.  There is still so much more good in that person than not.  I believe in consequences and boundaries.  I think consequences are important for change and growing.  My heart is sad for the family we spoke of today and even though I don't know them I will pray for them.  I'm so thankful for the atonement of Jesus Christ....it's for every little mistake and the huge ones too!  I'm thankful for my dear friends that take time to share a few hours with me. . . what a blessing they all are!
I didn't mean to take this picture.  I was setting the camera and it went off.  It made me laugh out loud and I couldn't help but think of Davaleen.  Davaleen always got candid shots of us and maybe this is from her. (oh how I miss her)

Sunday

My "Soap Box"

I love Sundays and I love them even more since our Church time is now 9:00 am instead of 1:00 pm.  I feel refreshed and ready for inspiration in the mornings.  Today I felt the Spirit more than once and got my own personal revelation.  I love recognizing and feeling the Spirit.  It's not that I didn't feel the spirit when we had late church it's just that I prefer mornings.

When we were on our Cruise a comedian that we were listening to made a statement about being spiritual but not believing in organized religion.  I have heard many people say that and it got me thinking.  Belonging to a Church and attending often is essential to growing closer to Heavenly Father in my opinion.  I study more and serve others that I am certain I wouldn't if I was left on my own.  Organized religion guides and directs us and helps us get our own personal revelation from Heavenly Father and His plan for us.  We are given many opportunities to serve and I truly believe that serving others is part of the Great Plan of Happiness and what this life is all about.

I am a people watcher and notice what others do.  There are many who do good things for people that don't go to church but I don't think it is as consistent as those that attend often.  The Comedian sells his CD's and takes that money and buys pizza for the homeless.  That is such a wonderful act of love and kindness but there is so much more that he could share if he attended a Church regularly.  He is on his own path though and doing wonderful things with the talents he has been blessed with.  We all have different paths and just because they are not the same doesn't mean one is wrong. (I really do believe that)

Attending Church regularly takes commitment and a lot of time.  It's not easy all the time that's for sure.  Preparing lessons or attending classes makes us think deeper.  We read His Word during those times and learn of His ways better.  We are prepared for personal inspiration.

Having Faith and Believing in Jesus Christ and Following His Example is Most Important but helping our neighbors and friends along the journey is very important too.  Helping our neighbors and friends is way easier when we know them and their needs.  Going to Church often and participating is how that happens.

Today the message that I heard was being prepared and listening to the Holy Ghost.  This life is where we prepare ourselves to meet Heavenly Father again.  When we are prepared things go smoother.  Preparation is essential in most everything we do.  Following the promptings of the Spirit will put us on the path that Heavenly Father has for us.

I'm thankful that I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  I believe there is good in all churches but I do believe ours is complete with nothing missing.  I know that the powers of the Temple are real!  The ordinances in the Temple are essential for us to have eternal families.  We are the only church that has the wonderful gift of the Holy Ghost to be our constant companion.  I think we might take this wonderful gift for granted since we really don't know what it feels like not to have him with us.  We are blessed and The Church is True and Complete.

I have good friends that don't believe like I do and that's okay.  I don't mind living a stricter life and not experiencing the ways of the world because I feel peace and power by restricting things from my life that the worlds says is okay.  Everything The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints teaches us is for own safety and good.  I want to be safe and feel healthy and happy and that's what God wants for us too.  His guidelines are blessings and because He cares.  I had restrictions and guidelines for my kids as well because I wanted them to be safe and happy because I love them and care about them so much.....God Loves and Cares About Us More!

We had cake and ice cream to celebrate Mya turning 8!

Saturday

Mya's Birthday Celebration

Mya got to spend the night with us to celebrate her turning eight!  Seriously I can not believe how fast my little grands are growing up. The time seems to be going even faster than when I was raising my little ones.  Mya was so excited which thrills me to the core.  Natalie and the kids stopped by on Thursday and Mya just snuggled with me the whole time.  I could tell she was excited for "HER" day!  I'm so happy that our little birthday sleepover tradition was started because it's a blast spending time with each of our grands.

When Mya came over after school on Friday, I asked her if she wanted to go shopping for her birthday present since we had time. She told me she thought we would do that tomorrow and she just wanted to play.  She ended up going to Trichelle's with Kimleighel for a minute so Kimi could get her "Behr" fix....she was missing him.  Kimi wanted to stay but knew I was excited to have Mya and so TJ brought Mya back when he took Ivy to her dads for the weekend.  Ivy wanted to come give me a hug too.  I'm glad that the grands like coming over every chance they get.  I can't believe how tall Ivy is.  She probably is taller than me but her mom has trained her to bend so she doesn't look taller than us.  It was fun getting hugs from Ivy and seeing her for a minute before she had to go.  I can't say it enough....I adore my grands!
It was time to start dinner and so Mya found an apron and helped me prepare our meal.  Mya butter the bread for our garlic bread.  She helped by keeping me company. (that's what she said)  She did stir the sauce for the spaghetti a little too.  It's kind of fun having little helpers in the kitchen again.  We ate and then played and then Mya chose a movie for us to watch.  She chose Santa Claus 2...she is a girl after my own heart.  I like Christmas Movies any time of the year.  Mya snuggled with grandpa a little and I know he loved that.  We even talked grandpa into spending the night out in the front room with us....his first time!  Mya and Grandpa got the couches and I had a mat on the floor.  I really love my grands because I really don't like sleeping on the floor and need a thicker mat. ☺

I am so impressed with this cute little one.  Before going to bed Mya read her scriptures and wrote in her journal her cousin  Kamryn gave to her.  Mya notices when people aren't modest and it bothers her.  She pays attention to the word of wisdom and the things she is being taught and will call you on it.  I don't buy pop often but a few weeks ago we did have some Coke and I was having some.  She asked me what it was and reminded me that there is caffeine in it and if it wasn't okay for her to have then why would I be drinking it.  She's right and since then when I have bought soda pop for our house it has been caffeine free. I hope she will always be so mindful and strong in her beliefs and behaviors.  This little girl is a Spiritual Giant!
We slept in a little.  I got up and showered and got ready for Jared's basketball game and by the time I came back little Miss Mya was awake.  I know she is not a morning person and that she probably wouldn't want to go to Jared's game so I gave her a few choices.  She chose to stay home and watch cartoons.  (Kimi was upstairs)  She was ready for pancakes when we came home. (Jared's team won by one point...it was intense)  My grands love pancakes and so that's usually what we make.  Mya decided to eat hers on the bar and I decided to just let her.

Mya invited Kimleighel and Jared to come shopping with us.  She loves her Aunt and Uncle and they are so good to all the little ones.  Mya knew she wanted to go to Joann's to get her birthday gift.  Mya loves crafting and creating.  She is very mindful of what she wants and puts a lot of thought into it.  She is also very mindful of the price and doesn't want to spend too much.  She ended up with a craft using plastic mesh and yarn and some earmuffs and gloves.  She was tickled pink and so was I.  Mya chose Arctic Circle for lunch.  She likes that little mini corn dogs and that's the only place I know of that has them.  She did not play in the kid area and even though we had seats in there at first it was just too noisy today and we all moved to another table.
Mya wasn't in any hurry to go home and just wanted to go back to my house. When we got home we got right on her craft.  I think I might have cut it a little off but I think it will also be okay.  I told Natalie and Justin they might need to help Mya adjust a little.

Mya wanted to play as long as she could. She's pretty good at playing by herself.  I went up in the room upstairs that the girls like playing in and found her in the middle of a huge mess that hasn't been cleaned up forever.  She was content and happy though and so I let her be and will not worry about the mess.  I seldom go up stairs in that room and it's because I get frustrated how messy it always seems to be.  I have to remind myself that things don't have to be orderly all the time and to stay downstairs.
After playing inside for quite awhile she talked me into going outside with her to play.  Heck...it's her celebration and I didn't plan on doing anything else so I went out and played with her.  We rode scooters and wiggle cars.  We raced to the play ground and I am thankful that Mya gave me head start because I barely beat her.  Mya played on the swings and a lot on the ice.  She ended up falling a few times but was tough.  Mya climbed trees when we were going over to see the cows.  My kids all loved climbing trees too.  Mya has always reminded me more of her mom but right now at this age I can see Justin.  I see him through her eyes and freckled cheeks.
We finally decided that it was time to take this cutie home.  When we got there Parker was out taking care of his bunnies.  I don't think I have wrote it here but Parker's bunny "Bark" ended up being a female...a pregnant female.  On Macie's birthday "Bark" who now is named "Vixie"had seven cute little bunnies.  Parker is pretty good at taking care of them all.  He knows if he doesn't that they will be taken away.

Everyone was happy to have Mya home.  We were happy that we were able to spend so much time with her.  Oh how I love celebrating birthdays!

Kimleighel Time

Since Kimleighel had the week off because Trichelle and her family were vacationing we decided to go to lunch.  Kimi has wanted to go to Zupa's for awhile and today we made it happen.  I had plenty I could have been doing but I know that my time with my kids is limited and everything can wait.  It was fun being with Kimi and listening to her talk.  Kimi reminds me of myself with all the talking she does.  I love that she shares so much with her mommy.  Kimi is constantly telling me how beautiful and wonderful I am.  I hope I encourage and compliment her as well.  My kids really are such wonderful examples to me.  They are each such special blessings.  I am thankful for Kimleighel and can't wait to see what's in store for her.  One of my favorite things that she told me today was that she wasn't going to change who she was to satisfy someone else.  She had been talking to a young man on face time and being her silly self.  I guess he made some comments that hurt her a little but also made her realize that she was happy with who she is and wasn't going to change.  I admire her for telling the boy to lose her number because she didn't want to talk to him again.   I admire Kimleighel for loving herself and feeling good with who she is.  I wouldn't want her to change either.  Kimleighel is Happy and Fun just the way she is.  I'm glad we had our little time together.  I love Kimleighel!

 BACK IN TIME

Breakfast ~ What occupation did you want when you were a child? From the time I can remember I always just wanted to be a "Mommy".

Lunch ~ Name a few favorite memories of your elementary school days.  I remember taking naps in kindergarten and one child got to wake everyone up and I never got a turn but always hoped for one. (maybe not a favorite memory but one of my earliest)  I loved playing kick ball and hop scotch and four square.  I was the Hopscotch Champion for the entire school in 6th grade.  I played the flutophone loved playing Little Red Caboose.  I got in trouble with some other kids and had to stand with our arms out...it might have happened more than once.  I loved collecting rocks in 5th grade because of the teacher.

Dinner ~ What is one smell that brings back memories from your childhood and why? Coffee in the morning. My mom and dad started each day with a cup of coffee and I still enjoy the smell because it reminds me of my childhood home.

Midnight Snack ~ Who was your best friend in elementary school? Kevin Weise was my best friend...I even named my child after him.  Tricia and Carol Larsen, Tami Endow, Julie Hall, Suzanne Trewett, Mindy Peterson, Lynn Halpin, Nancy Webb, Tonya Stockberger. Junior High? Mallory Hyde, Tonya Stockberger, Suzie Hendricks, Teri Cottrel, Lisa Van Natter,   High School?  Tonya Stockberger, Mallory Hyde, Kim Porter, Jeanne Taketta, Carol Larsen, Carol Smith. College? Kim Taylor, Mallory Hyde, Tonya Stockberger, Laurie Henry.

Thursday

Back to My Life

Sadie Lou came to our house today for Kimi to tend.  It was fun having her over.  Sadie is such a cute baby and smiles more than any baby I've ever met.  She makes my heart smile as big as the smile on her face.  I got to hold her and love on her a little before I went bowling and it was nice.  She's just so cute.

After bowling I picked up some treats for SNAP and came home and finished up the laundry from our trip.  The kids were good and did all theirs before we got home and I was glad because Larry and I had enough of our own.  Kimi talked me into running to the store with her to get some treats which meant I wouldn't have time to fix dinner before leaving for SNAP.  Kimi said that she would fix it but we ended up buying a rotisserie chicken for dinner instead.  A friend of ours was at the store and told me that I might be nominated for "Mother Of The Year" because of my fine meal in my shopping cart.  I also had Ding Dongs for dessert and some bread.  I just laughed and reminded him that my family is growing and we are all pretty darn healthy in spite of how I "prepare" my meals.  I grabbed a little chicken and a Ding Dong and headed out the door.
Virginia's ward came and did our activity tonight.  The kids put vinyl on a tile and then painted over it.  The kids from the other ward were really good about helping our participants and it looked like everyone was enjoying themselves.  The tiles had to be baked and the vinyl peeled off and so we will get them next week.  Everyone was excited and proud of their tile.  There are a "few" artists in the bunch.  I felt very happy tonight and had a few of the kids tell me they loved me.  Oh my that brings me so much Joy.  I'm glad that I am making a little difference in their life.  They are making a huge difference in mine!

Sometimes when I drive home I hear some pretty strange things from one of the gals I take home.  Tonight was one of those nights.  It kind of reminded me of the New Orleans "Crap" Story....something I did not need to hear or know.  The gal read something bizarre on the internet where a lady lost weight and so she is going to try it.  I told her she just needs to change a few things at a time in her diet and walk more.  I guess she thinks she might be the "Lucky One" that doesn't have to change any habits and will loose if she does the bizarre thing she read.  Oh my gosh...I'm not going to lie....I gagged!  I am certain I did NOT make eye contact...oh but I was driving her home! ☺
(The tiles turned out pretty and shiny!  Even the ones that I thought were kind of ugly ended up looking great)

Wednesday

New Orleans

Larry had a convention in New Orleans. The company he buys parts from pays for him to go.  He didn't want to go to it but when he asked me what I thought I told him I'd love to go to New Orleans.  It's slow at work and so he thought it would be fun to go on a cruise if possible before the show.  Well Luck was in my corner and there was a cruise leaving New Orleans, going to Cozumel and returning the day before the show.  Yippee....I was excited.  I invited Roger and Carla to go with us because they are fun to travel with.  They were excited to and so off we went.  We left Wednesday morning (Mya's birthday) and got to New Orleans just an hour or so after Carla and Roger.  We met them and decided to walk on over to Bourbon Street and check it out.  Before we went to far we stopped so that Larry and I could get something to eat.  We ended up at a Hard Rock Cafe and got a hamburger.  Then we adventured to Bourbon Street because Bourbon Street really is an adventure.
We were warned by our Taxi Cab Driver not to be taken advantage of.  We can almost say we weren't.  Almost because we did fall for a prank that ended up costing us $5.00.  I'm told you shouldn't make eye contact with people...like ignore them....well I can't do that and so they get me.  A guy asked Larry if he wanted his shoes shined.  We laughed and said No Thanks.  The guy kept with us as we walked and told us that he could tell us where got his shoes...what city and state.  He was so confident that he said he would give Larry $5 if he was wrong but said that we had to give him $5 if he was right.  As I type this I am experiencing a little dajavu....I think we might have heard of this before.  Anyway, we agreed and that's when he got us.  The man said "you got your shoes on your feet on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Carla and I got some beads without showing our "boobies" and learned that this little tradition started because people pretended to be wealthy and would throw their riches and jewels to the peasants.  We little peasants liked getting the beads and wore them like we were rich too. I didn't see anything too crazy on bourbon street but I know that I wouldn't want to be there during Mardi Gras either!  I did have a guy dressed up like a jester come and connect arms with me while I was connected to Larry.  He walked with us for awhile and I asked him how far he was going to go with us.  He said that usually people will ask for a picture by now.  I told him I understood that they charged for pictures and that's when he let go of me and turned around.  It was funny and he was a little scary looking so I didn't mind not getting a picture of him.
We boarded the Carnival Elation Friday afternoon.  It was a nice ship and there were a lot of people that lived close that took this cruise with us.  It was the bounciest cruise I have ever taken and I am really glad that Carla and Roger do NOT get motion sickness since this is their first cruise.  I was the only one in our group that got sick and I actually got sick a few times but neither time lasted more than a few hours.  We had hit a storm after porting at Cozumel and the ship rocked all night Saturday and most of Sunday.  I'm glad it wasn't my first cruise or it might have been my last but since I know they aren't all like that I will go again.  I had the meds I needed but might get a few more if we go again.  I really hate being sick but I have always been prone to motion sickness since I was a little girl...it's just how I'm put together.
I do enjoy our little towel creations that greet us each night before going to bed.  I really prefer a chocolate on my pillow as well but that didn't happen this cruise.  The Mississippi River is huge and dirty.  It took us hours to get from it to the Ocean.  It was cool seeing it and being on it.  It's still used for transporting supplies.  There are lots of ships and cruisers on it all the time.
It was a nice day in Cozumel.  We heard that it was the best day all week.  We didn't have real plans and decided to go Parasailing since there really wasn't a beach close by.  It was beautiful and peaceful.  Larry and I went up first and I couldn't believe how smooth and calm it was even though I have been before.  I enjoyed going with Larry and kissing him high in the sky!  It was a perfect day.  Roger even found a Harley Store and got him another shirt.  That's something Roger likes doing whenever he goes somewhere new.  He got a shirt in New Orleans at a Harley Store there.

The storm made us 5 hours late on Monday when we returned.  That didn't bother us since we were just planning on doing a little sight seeing.  We weren't in a hurry and didn't think we'd be able to check into our Hotels until later anyway.  When we did get off the ship we went to our Hotel's and checked in.  Roger and Carla went to the one we stayed in on Wednesday but Larry and I were at another one since we got it paid for by the suppliers.  They were still close to each other and we met at ours.
We ended up going to a buffet at Harrah's casino.  It was pretty good.  I really wanted to try the gumbo but it looked too gross.  I had some in a ladle but just couldn't bring myself to putting it in the bowl.  It was the craw-fish that kind of freaked me out.  While we were in New Orleans I did try a few other things that are unique to there.  Pralines (very good), Po Boy (okay) and Beignet (Good) are all a New Orleans thing and they were good and should be tried.  Since we didn't have a lot of time left in our day we decided to buy a day pass for the trolley and ride it around.  We ended up riding one trolley to the end of it's line and back again.  It was fun and we did see some interesting things.  That was pretty much all we had time to do on Monday and so we called it a night and returned to our Hotel's.
Tuesday morning Craig and Rachelle joined us.  They came to the convention too so that Rachelle could help Larry with the ordering.  We had the morning to do a few things because the show actually didn't start until the afternoon.  We decided to go on a City Tour.  It was interesting and we learned a lot of things.  The driver did a little review towards the end of the tour and even though I couldn't remember everything I did remember quite a bit.  We learned that the guy who wrote "You Are My Sunshine" was actually talking about his favorite Horse.  The houses are build at an angle so that everyone gets the evening breeze.  The cemetery is above ground and if you have more members of the family that need to be buried they take the oldest casket (there can be 2 to 3) and remove the body and put it in a body bag and stack in under the caskets.  That casket is burned and a new one is put in.   A body has to be a year and a day old before removing it from a casket. We learned about the jewels being thrown to the peasants and the people throwing them pretending to be wealthy.  The colors of Mardi Gras mean things too.  Purple is for Royalty, God for Wealth, and Green for fate or fame...really I can't remember.  There was a lot of information and I didn't take notes so I can't remember it all.
On the city tour we went to a cemetery, a sculpture garden and through town and the French Quarters.  Everything was interesting a cool.  I really enjoy city tours because you do learn so much information that you probably wouldn't just guess or know on your own.  By the end of the tour it was time for the parts show to start.  Carla and I didn't want to go to it right away and so we used our trolley pass and rode different trolleys around.  We recognized lots of places from our tour.  Before we started trolley jumping we went into a CVS pharmacy for some treats.  I had heard that we needed to try Pralines and we found some there.  Pralines are pretty good.  When we came out of the store and was waiting for the street light to change so that we could cross the road I had an interesting experience.  A lady asked us for money and I guess Carla ignored her but I smiled and shook my head "NO".  The lady had a beer in one hand and a bag of clothes that she referred to as "crap" (not her exact expression) in the other.  She then told me that I looked nice and so I returned the compliment and told her that she also looked nice.  Then she shared that she was going to the doctor and needed to take her bag of "crap" to him.  I should not have commented but I did...I told her that was a lot of "crap" in her bag.  She then reached into her bag and I knew....I knew where this was heading.  She pulled out a manila envelope and told me that she had to "crap" in that little envelope and take it to the doctor.  I laughed and gagged and told her that I really did NOT need to know that and that she probably shouldn't be sharing that with others.  The light finally changed and Carla and I crossed the road laughing.  I shared this little experience on face book and one of the ladies that we met on the cruise told me that it could have been something much worse pulled out of her bag.  I don't even want to know what might have been worse.  The trolley that Carla and I rode was probably one that more residents use to get to town.  It was fun watching everyone.  I was impressed with three nice looking young men that gave up their seats for some older ladies.  We had a good time!
We took a trolley that seriously just went down the river walk and back but it did end up at the conference center where we wanted to go.  The driver told us we had to get off but that's okay because that's where we were going.  The conference center was also right by the port for the cruise. Before going to the show we went to an outlet mall and looked around.  I made eye contact again with a guy in the middle of the mall selling face and eye cream.  I ended up in his chair having him fan my face after applying some cream to my eyes.  The cream did take my wrinkles away but it felt like glue.  He applied another cream on my forehead and those wrinkles went away as well...it was amazing.  I had told the cute sales man that I never buy on the spot like that. I like to think about it first which he wasn't happy to hear.  He was a very pushy salesman and kept trying to get me to commit to one of the creams.  They were on sale "Today" for half the price making them only $350-$400 each.  Boy....I really had to really think hard about that...NOT!  I hated the way my eye felt and the more I touched it the more it looked like it had originally.  I figure at this time in my life my skin should look a little older...heck....I earned these wrinkles!  The salesman couldn't believe that I had seven children though.  I'm not sure if that's because most people in the world have only a few or what...it didn't matter one way or another and I will think it was a compliment. ☺

Carla and I went over to the conference center and Carla was able to walk around and get some free bags and hats and see what it was all about.  I stayed with the paperwork and soon Craig joined me and we had a really nice visit.  Larry and Rachelle finished up their ordering and we enjoyed a nice dinner provided by the suppliers.

I really enjoyed New Orleans and I'm glad I got to see what it was all about.  I would recommend others to go visit there as well.  We had a really good time.  I still have sea legs from the cruise and find myself balancing from the imaginary swaying I am still feeling.

The kids all had a good time while we were gone and everything was in order when we got home.  It's fun having older kids that are responsible.  I heard they even prepared Sunday Dinner at our house.  I sure do love my kids and hubby!  My life is Good!

Oh How Great...Mya is Eight

This beautiful little one is eight years old today.  I can't believe how big Mya is getting.  I love this little one.  Mya is smart and tries hard at everything.  Mya is kind and nice.  Mya is a wonderful big sister but she told me she wishes she wasn't the oldest....there's a lot of responsibility for the oldest.  Mya is funny and surprises me with her humor sometimes.  She has more of her dad in her the older she gets.  Mya loves giving me hugs.  Mya will discretely tell me if she notices something that she doesn't quite like.  I like that she lets me know if something doesn't seem fair or right.  Mya is obedient and listens to her parents, teachers and us.  Mya is talented and is good at playing the piano and drawing. Mya enjoys reading.  I adore this beautiful child.  Mya has chosen to get baptized and she asked me if I would say a prayer at her baptism.  I love being involved in the grands special days.  I'm so thankful for Mya...she adds charm to our family.  She's a sweet little one!

Monday

A GRAND Weekend

I got to see and spend time with all my cute grands this weekend.  Oh My Heck...they are so dang cute and fun!  We got to have Behrenger Friday after school and then over night so that his parents could celebrate TJ's birthday.  Ivy and Zaden got to come with Behr until their dads picked them up and I'm not kidding I get as excited as they do.  I absolutely love that my grands love coming to our house.  Not long after Ivy left I heard a little knock at our door and there was Kamryn and Jordyn.  They wanted to come play because they were bored at gramps.  I love having their cute faces at my house and Zaden was really glad he had someone to play the Wii with. I enjoyed watching Zaden and Kam play together.  Jordyn is fun and very loving. Baby Behr was really good and we all enjoyed him so much.  He slept all night and was laughing at me kissing on him when his mommy came Saturday afternoon to get him.  My grands really are good babies and kids.  They are fun and polite.  They aren't rowdy or destructive.  I know it's because they all have such great parents....it shows!  I smile every time I see one of their cute faces.  I think they are all so darling.  I really could never pick a favorite because I adore them all so much.
Saturday morning I left Behr with Jared and Larry while I went to a Relief Society morning social.  It had a cute winter, snowman theme and the decorations were all very cute.  We had waffles and then some fun entertainment.  The Relief Society goes to a lot of work to unite us sisters and keep us connected to each other.  I appreciate the time and effort they spend on everyone.

I got Behr back when I got home and the boys went out and took care of all the hay that Jared will need for the next week.  Trichelle came before they got done and after visiting for awhile she took Behr home. Trichelle and TJ missed their cute baby.  I enjoyed visiting with Trichelle for a while though before she left.  I always enjoy visiting with my kids when they come over.  I am really trying to stop what I'm doing so that they have my undivided attention but I still need to work on that some. It's hardest to do when I'm in the middle of something...which I usually am unless it's tending the grands then I usually don't do anything else.
When the guys came in from doing the hay and cleaning the corral we decided to hurry and go to Red Lobster before more grands came.  We had just enough time.  It was so yummy and good and even better that we had gift cards and didn't have to spend any of our money.  Food is always better when you don't have to pay for it.  I think I look tired but really I wasn't....I was just having a bad hair day. ☺

We got home in time to greet Justin and Natalie's cute kids.  We got to keep them for a few hours while Justin and Natalie went to their Adult Session for their Stake Conference.  It's so fun having these kids over.  After they played for a while I got them bathed and we watched Curious George with them.  I had forgot about Curious George since it's been a few years that I have watched it. (Zaden use to love it)  I like it because it teaches the kids things as well as entertaining them.  I enjoyed all the hugs and loves this weekend.

We finally got to see cute Sadie on Sunday.  She looked so little sitting at our bar waiting for some ice cream.  Sadie is mobile now and crawls all over and pulls herself up.  She also gets behind people and they don't realize it and knock her over.  She had a bruise on her head already from that happening and got another one on top of the one already there.  So sad but she is pretty tough.  The weekend was complete.  I got to see all the grands.  It usually happens every other Sunday but even though I get to see them all on those days I really don't interact with them like I get to when a few are here at a time.  When everyone is here they all play together which is fun to see too but I really like tending them every now and then and having "our time" together.
Macie got to spend the night on Sunday for her birthday.  She was so excited!  Macie and I slept on the front room floor because that's more fun than sleeping in the playpen.  She's a wiggler and I kept covering her up through the night.  Other than wiggling and me worrying about her being warm it was a great night.  She went to sleep good and woke up with a cute smile and then a big hug for me.  We made pancakes together because that's what she wanted.  She was so happy to help me stir the batter.  Macie is a great little eater and ate her pancake right up.  She was excited to get dressed so we could go shopping and get her something for her birthday.
I took her to Walmart because it's close and I needed to be back to take Grandma Donna to Costco to make an exchange.  We had over an hour to find something.  It was so fun watching this cute little girl walk up and down the aisles picking up things with such enthusiasm.  She makes me laugh. I thought she might like a princess dress up and when I showed her it and suggested it she said: "No....Yuckie".  I tried again a little later and got the same response....haha she doesn't like princess dresses.  She found some Lego's in a big wagon and I thought that was it...until I showed her a doctor kit thing and then she put the wagon back and wanted the doctor toy...until she saw another set of lego's.  That was it...the Lego's in a box was the gift she wanted and was happy with.  I really love taking the kids shopping.  It's so much fun for me to watch them think and make their decisions.

Macie wanted to go home and play with Kimi and her new Lego's while I took grandma Donna to the store.  We were fast and I was back in an hour.  Macie was ready to go get lunch...actually she thought we were going to have lunch at my house and was sad when we walked away from the kitchen.  Once she understood we were going she was happy again.  She didn't cry but had a pouty face. We went to Arctic Circle because she wanted a corn dog.  She had a great time playing.  She looked so little climbing the big stairs.  She didn't want to leave until her food was gone either and so we were there for a few hours.  It was fun and it was fun having Jaydan and Kimi join us.  I love this little 2 year old and she loves me...and the rest of us!
So Yep this Weekend was Grand....Having All My Grands Over!  Oh how this Gramma loves and adores these cute little people!
