Monday

Temple & Friend & Chocolate

Today Pam and I met and went to the SLC Temple then to lunch.  I didn't even know the Temple was open on Mondays but the SCL Temple is in the mornings.  Pam lives in Springville and so SLC was about half way for each of us.  It was so great attending the Temple.  Pam and I met through our missionaries.  Braxton served with her son Kyle and they thought we should meet.  They told us to look for each other on FB and we became instant friends.  When I met Pam in person for the first time (when Kyle got home)  it was as if we already knew each other. We both felt very comfortable and are great friends.
It was nice attending the Temple before lunch.  It just made me feel good.  We decided to walk over to the City Creek Center for lunch.  Pam hadn't been their yet and we really wanted to "fix" our cravings for chocolate and I knew their was a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory there.  We stopped in the chocolate store first to get a whiff and take a look around.  We came back after having lunch.
Visiting with Pam is fun and easy.  I am so glad that we met.  We just fit together quite well.  She's a great person and such a joy to have as a friend.  I don't know why I am so lucky to be blessed with so many wonderful friends but I am so thankful that I am!!!  Heavenly Father spoils me!  (I LOVE HIM!!!)

Father's Day 2012

I am so thankful for the wonderful dads in my life.  My dad is wonderful and kind and it was wonderful growing up thinking that I was his favorite.  Larry's dad has always made me feel like I was one of his.  I love them both and I'm so thankful for all they do for me and my family.  I am especially thankful for the Dad of my kids.  I love Larry so much and marvel at the man he is.  He is grrrrreat!  Kimi pampered him today with a pedicure.  He loves them!  Kimi is great at giving them.  I get one tomorrow....I just didn't feel right about letting her give me one on father's day....it's Larry's day not mine.
I got Larry a banana clip for his gun and the kids went in on a target for him.  They had a great time shooting at it.  Guys and guns....they just go together.  I am also very thankful for my son's that are dads.  Justin is such a wonderful dad and loves spending time with his kids.  They sure do love him.  Kevin is also a great dad.  He stepped into the role really smoothly and loves taking care of Kamryn.  She loves him too.
I am also grateful for Daniel, Joe and TJ.  They take care of Trichelle's kids really well.  That is one thing each one of them is really good at.  They love their kids and it shows.  I am glad for these wonderful people. They all mean the world to me!

Friday

Fridays are FUN!

Randee is so sweet to have a Ropelato Swim Day every Friday.  Trichelle and Natalie both had off today and were able to come.  Natalie (Dave's) brought her kids too.  Darinda was even there for a while.  I love visiting with my kids, nieces and sister in laws and watching the little ones.  I want my kids to know their cousins and relatives and Randee and Darinda are making this happen.  Darinda has Wednesdays set aside for swim days at her house.

I love that Randee and Marc are so close.  We've already been swimming twice this summer.  Last summer we didn't make it once to Darinda's.  I think we will this summer though since she changed the day.  My kids love it and so I will try to make it happen as often as possible.  It's FuN being a Ropelato!  Oh....just saying that made me think of Kamryn last week.  She was so excited to become a Ropelato that she was telling her cousins on Friday that on Saturday she was going to be a Ropelato! :)

Thursday

Lagoon with the Grands

It was Stake Lagoon Day and Larry's day off so we decided to take the grands to Lagoon.  Little kids just make me smile....and my grands are just so darn cute I can't stop smiling!
Some of the grands were a bit cautious starting out.  Even though at first a few didn't ride many rides they still said they were having so much fun.  They really liked Lagoon.  Ivy went off with Kimi and Jared and did a few "big" rides for a few hours.  Then we met for lunch and pretty much stuck together.  We ran into Heather Anderson and her boys, and Barbie and the rest of her family.  Jared decided to hang out with them and he had a great time. (I love those people!)
We had a great time too.  A little after lunch Kamryn came with her Aunt Jen and Grandma Lynette so we played with them.  It was so much fun watching the grands get braver and braver.  It was so much fun watching the grands enjoy each other.  They really do love each other!  I love that!!!
It was the perfect day to be at Lagoon.  Not a ton of people at all.  The grands could get in a line and maybe wait one turn and then it was theirs.  Perfect in every way if you ask me!  We loved it!
The little tug boats took the longest to get on because they only had one worker who took one child at a time and put them in their boat then walked back to get another child. SLOWwwwww!  It was the same to get them off.  They can't get accused of not being careful! (they even locked the gate in between each kid. :)

My heart smiled today being with my cute Hubby and darling grands and Kimi & Jared.  Dang I love these people.......a bunch!  Kimi and Jared are such cute Aunts and Uncles....the grands love them!

Ivy was a cute big sister and cousin when she came back and rode with the younger kids.  When Mya finally got brave enough to ride Puff (the roller coaster) Ivy had her arm around her...protecting her! Sweet!

I believe the kids rode every ride as often as they wanted.  They all had a great time!

Parker didn't care to ride the rides but he was sure good watching and staying close to us.  All these little grands have such cute personalities.  Each unique and perfect!

I am so glad that Larry wanted to do this.  It really was his idea.  It had to be since I couldn't afford it.  We just took some $$$ from savings and went.  I would rather make memories than interest. ;)

The only "conflict" I even saw was when Kamryn and Mya rode the tug boats together.  They both wanted to ring the bell at the same time.  It make us all laugh at their little expressions.  The last time around the circle Kamryn was ringing it and Mya put her hands over her ears and threw her head back shouting that it was too loud. :D  It was funny to us and was over when the ride ended.

Larry tricked Parker with the little swings.  He put Parker in and hooked him up and Parker was loving it while it was stopped.  He didn't love it when it started and yelled the whole time.  I was down a few rides with Ivy and Larry asked if I heard him.  I didn't!  We didn't trick him anymore.

I know this was a fun day for everyone.  The kids were so good and so cute and very grateful.  When we were leaving Mya very quietly asked me if they could get something.  Since they had been so good we took them in the little gift store and let them pick out a little gift to take home.
I will admit that I was exhausted when the day was over.   The sun has always drained me and I felt it today. The grands were great and more fun than anything.  We decided that for sure we are taking everyone to Disneyland now in January!

I know I've said it before but Larry is a Dream Maker!!! He makes our dreams come true.  Man I LOVE HIM!!!

Monday

Oh Good Heaven....Ivy is Seven

I seriously can not believe how fast time flies.  Ivy Marie turned 7 today!  I was glad that Trichelle and Ivy invited me to share part of the day with them.  I met them for lunch.  We went for Sushi.....Yes ~ Ivy likes Sushi.  I just look at Ivy and can't believe how grown up she is.  What a blessing children are......mine as well as the grands!  I love being a mom and gramma......it's my favorite thing ever!
I have a hard time with those darn chop sticks.  I have to really concentrate to get them to work.  Ivy figured a very unique way of holding and using hers.  Hahaha.....it made me laugh!
After lunch we went to Barnes and Noble.  I had decided that since Ivy loves to read and is a very good reader that I would get her books.  I love books!  I love book stores!  Ivy chose a few books from a few different series to see if she likes them.  One of the series is  "Ivy & Bean".  She chose that since it is about a little 7 year old girl named Ivy.  I Love our Ivy Marie!

Sunday

Oh Happy Happy Day

6 ♥ 9 ♥ 12.....what a glorious day!  Kevin and Julie got married!  A miracle happened that morning!  Around 5:00 am Kamryn's birth dad gave permission for Kamryn to be sealed to Kevin and Julie!  He was saying no the whole time.  A few weeks ago Kevin and Julie came up with a plan.  They wanted someone from either family to attend the temple every day until they were wed ~ praying that Landon's heart would be softened.  We all took part and went to the temple.  When Larry and I went we both just felt peace and that everything would work out.  We didn't necessarily think or know that things would go as we desired but we did know it would all work out and we would all feel okay with whatever happened.  How wonderful when we got the news.  The day could not have been better.  Having this little family sealed together was the biggest blessing!  Oh how the spirit was strong!  Kamryn was so reverent and sweet as a perfect little angel! Oh I love my newest grand and was so happy for her to sealed to her parents. (I'm crying just typing this)  We are blessed!  I pray for Landon and thank the Lord for letting this happen on this day!

It didn't really matter what happened the rest of the day....the frosting was spread and everything that mattered had happened.  But.....it was a fun day.....Yes it was fun!
I don't think anyone really enjoys taking pictures but it was fun on 6 ♥ 9 ♥ 12.
The Reception was also fun.  We went to the church for the ring ceremony and pictures and lunch.  Julie had everything very organized to the point it was enjoyable.  I think everything went smoothly.  The line was steady and constant but never backed up.  The refreshments were great.....brownies because they're Kevin's favorite and cookie dough ice cream because it's Julie's favorite.  They had candy for bags that were Julie, Kamryn's and Kevin's favorites.  They also had Lime Rickey to drink because it matched the color decor.  Warren's Drive Inn furnished the drinks and cups.  The cups were large which surprised us all.  It was kind of funny seeing everyone with Warren cups.
It is so fun for me to see who comes to the Reception.  It is also then that you realize or worry who didn't receive their invite.  I had invited my friends from school that I have reconnected with and 6 of them came.  They don't know my family except through me talking and the internet but they came to support me.  It made me feel really good.  It just turned a wonderful day to even a better one.  Friends are wonderful!  The day was perfect in every way.   I was exhausted when it ended.  I didn't really have to do much but be there but standing all day and having camp behind me tuckered me out.  I am just one happy lady!
Oh and I wanted to document a super nice compliment that was given me.  One of my younger friends that lives close by came over to me and said "you just get younger every time I see you!"  She said she loves my posts on facebook and is always watching me.  She wanted to know my secret.  Hmmmm since I didn't know that was happening...... but thinking about it....... I think being Happy and Positive is the secret.  There is just something about that.  I really do feel better since I chose Happiness to be a constant in my life.  I guess others notice the difference too.....I like that!

Friday

Who's Your Hero?

"Who's Your Hero?" was the theme of our girls camp this year!  Brittney was called as our Camp Director and I was her Assistant.  This was Brittney's FIRST Girls Camp EVER!  I know that she was called by inspiration.  I was called because I really wanted to go to girls camp and the Bishop thought that there should be at least one perk to being a Bishops wife.  That's why I was called.  I was called to assist Brittney and it was a bit hard.  I had a lot of people come to me and ask me the things they should have been asking Brittney.  I became real good at saying "I am just the assistant" and you need to ask Brittney.  I didn't want Brittney to think that she couldn't do it or that I was taking over.  It turned out great and Brittany got good at saying "I'm in charge".  My biggest advice to Brittney was to delegate.  We didn't have a whole lot of time once we were called and Brittney needed another surgery on her leg and so she took my advice and delegated.  It was a wonderful girls camp and pretty stress free.  Having others help with things was the way to go.  We even had camp cooks which was a huge relief.

I missed the first days activities because Julie took out her endowments on Tuesday (the day the girls left). I know that Crystal came up and helped the girls make journals and Buffey came up and make necklaces with the girls from the tops of pop cans.  Both projects were really cute.  I got to camp just after 4:00 since I had to stop and pick up a few more things for camp.  Hahaha it seems like there's always something else that needs to be brought.
I took Savannah up with me and so she had some catching up to do when we got there.  The other girls are really good at helping each other out.  All of our girls get along really good and include everyone.  We really do have some awesome young ladies in our ward.  I don't ever hear meanness or gossip between them.  I just love them all. (that's why I weasel my way into girls camp)
During free time there's a lot of cards being flipped.  There's also a lot of laughter and noise.  I enjoy playing but I also enjoy just watching.  This year I just watched and laughed.
There's also a lot of chatting going on.  I love seeing everyone relax and have a great time!  Our Young Women's President, Judy Taylor, does foot zoning and so there was always zoning going on.  That interests me and so I liked sitting close so I could hear the advice given. On my zoning she noticed my crooked back, my lungs, my thyroid, and lymph's.  I have some work to do to get them healthier.  I knew I had issues with all those things except my lymph's.  Heck I even learned how to give myself a face lift.  I worry though because if I turn the circle the wrong way I wonder if I will add to the wrinkles. It's pretty darn cool.  Kittie has also learned about foot zoning and worked on some of the ladies too.  I think everyone was zoned. (by parents permission)
WHO ARE YOU???
(we think we're funny)

Larry was able to come up Tuesday after work and spend the night with us and all day Wednesday.  He loves girls camp like I do. He also really love Brittney!  We have both become really close to her since her accident.  Sad that it took that but some times that's exactly how it's suppose to be.  She's kind of like our kid and we look out for her.
Every day the girls chose a name from a bucket for their "secret sister".  That way they had a different one each day. They brought different gifts for each day.  We also had them write on shields something good about that girl and put it on the wall for everyone to see. I really enjoyed reading the nice and funny things that they put.  I noticed the girls reading them every once in a while too.  I liked this idea.  They only put the girls name on the shield and didn't sign it so it too was "secret".
On Tuesday night each of the girls shared a story about one of their ancestors with the other girls.  Some of the girls were really prepared and I think some made up their stories.  It was a great activity that went right along with the Theme and the Elijah Project (searching for ancestors on line to do their temple work) that the youth have been doing.  The spirit was strong and I felt the presence of angels!
Wednesday the Bishop took the girls on a hike.  It's one of their requirements for certification and since the Bishop likes to spend time with the girls we delegated the hike to him.  Brittney and I stayed back and got things ready for their return.  We had some pampering planned for the girls. I brought stuff for pedicures.  We also popped them each a bag of popcorn and gave them some "bubbly" in special glasses.  (I really hope this doesn't make them want to drink the real stuff.....using nice glasses should be for any beverage)
The girls really enjoyed their pedicures and pampering.  They also enjoyed serving each other.  It was a great activity.

Larry rested while the girls got some pampering. (I wonder how many mice live in the couch?  we were told the cabin furniture was infested with mice.  We did not see any signs of them however the whole time we were there)  However because we heard that I put my mats on a big table and slept on it.  I felt like a "Princess" since Brittney was "Queen".

After the pedicures we made camp buckets.  These are 5 gallon buckets decorated with a soft seat that are used to store treats, cup/plates, camp books, flash lights etc. About half of our girls needed one.  We also let the girls decorate their shirts with some spray paint.  Brittney had cut our letter's to lay on the shirts first and then they sprayed.  The shirts turned out cute and the girls all enjoyed it.
Madi did a bunch of the leaders shirts for them and ended up with a stained arm.  It was a fun idea for the shirts.

We didn't get to have a fire on Tuesday because of the weather but the other nights we did.  I love having fires and cooking treats over them.  I miss the singing though that some times happens at girls camp.

On Wednesday night the girls did skits.  Brittney had an envelope with a women from the scriptures and some info about that women.  The girls acted them out in pairs and the rest of us had to guess who they had.  I think everyone learned a little something that night.  The girls enjoy skits so much and are so talented and creative.  A few groups even involved some other people that were there watching.  It was great!

Everyone laughed when Madi and Megan got up there.  Brittney was one short and instead of having a few groups of three I suggested they act out Judy. (YW Pres)  They did some foot zoning and a few "Good Morning Ladies".  It was a great way to end the skits.
One of the favorite "free time" activities is Volleyball.  It's so much fun playing all together.  Some get a little too competitive though and say things that hurt others.  It's innocent and not meant to hurt but with the lack of sleep some times our feelings are sensitive.  It was Kimi who got her feelings hurt when someone corrected her and told her how to play.....she knows how to play!  She got over it after awhile.
I love our stake camp.  They are actually improving it and clearing trees and making more camping spots.  It's getting nicer....but with all the movement and stirring up of things the critters are moving.  We saw a Rattle Snake right by the lodge we were staying in.  It was pretty scary but we all wanted to see it and watch it be caught or killed.
The camp has senior missionaries assigned to it now and we went to them for help.  They came right away and didn't even hesitate has they chopped off the head of the snake!  Our Priesthood guys were trying with rocks to kill the snake but that wasn't as successful as the shovel. (our guys didn't get as close either...but were still pretty brave)  So thankful for the Elders for saving us all from the Rattle Snake!
We had our Stake YW Presidency come and talk to the girls.  They were all really good.  Missy talked about her grandma and how she has affected her life.  Ranae talked about keeping a journal for our posterity and loved ones.  Tami talked about the "links" in our families and how "our link" is so important!  They all did a wonderful job and the girls enjoyed the things they had to say....it was after they spoke we found the snake.
Each night we had "Fear Factor".  We had the leaders each bring a different "treat" for the girls to try.  If they dared eat the treat all the way they were rewarded with a better treat.  All the girls were brave and tried everything.  That is until the last night after Testimony Meeting when we served the girls a treat that we let them believe was "rattle snake".  It was really just chicken but a few girls wouldn't try it.  Even after they knew the truth they wouldn't.  A snake is a snake after all! Yuck!

Speaking of Testimony Meeting I must say that this is one thing I really look forward to at girls camp.  The spirit is usually very strong and the setting is perfect.  This year we went to the new area that they just cleared out.  We probably built the first fire in the pit we used.  You could hear the birds singing and we even saw two dear run right in front of our spot.  Everyone was able to see them and I thought that was really cool.  I love hearing the girls testimonies.  I love sharing mine too.
In my opinion this was a very successful girls camp.  Everyone had a good time.  We didn't have injuries or sickness.  Well we did have a bit of any injury.  Julene fell back over some logs by a fire pit and hurt her leg. When she gets hurt she gets sick and was going into shock.  Thank goodness for the Priesthood Brotheren and the Priesthood. They gave her a blessing and she was up very quickly after it.
I insisted on getting some pictures with us all in our shirts.  It finally happened the last night when everyone was finally all together.  I think we had a fun group of people and I am so glad I got to be one of them.

A few hours after getting home the door bell rang.  I was the one to answer it and there was a guy holding flowers.  I always am surprised and love getting flowers.  I felt pretty cool when he said "These are for Dawn" and I got to reply..."I am Dawn". Oh happy day to me!
I don't understand when I hear women say that flowers are a waste of money!  I absolutely love getting flowers.  I would probably love getting the money that the flowers cost but that has never happened.  (here Honey is $$$ for you instead of flowers.....nope doesn't happen....I have never heard of it happening to anyone....so if you are one that says it is a waste of $$$ STOP IT and enjoy the Flowers!)
I wonder how I will weasel my way into going to girls camp next year!  Hmmmmm I will be thinking!
