Tuesday

M of M (memory of mine)

While the doctor was telling me how Larry's surgery went we talked a little about prayer.  Dr. Otto (who happened to be the mission doctor in the DR when Kevin was serving his mission there) told me how he prays every day that he will be able to do his best and help his patients.  Then he shared how his nurse or assistant had told him one day that she also prayed for him.  He said he was surprised by that and never thought about others praying for him.  I smiled and told him that we always pray for the doctors....always!  Anyways as we talked I had a memory surface that I shared it with him.  He asked me if I had that written down anywhere and honestly I'm not sure so I am going to save it here.

When Trichelle was a nanny in New York there was a day that I remember praying for her safety not just once but at least twice that day.  The second time I was driving into town and said a little prayer that Trichelle would be safe that day.  I remember that because even at the time I thought it was funny since I had just prayed for that exact thing in my morning prayer at home.  I think I was suppose to be aware that I had prayed again specifically for her safety because later that day or night I got a phone call from Trichelle.  It went something like this.....T: "Mom you prayed for me today didn't you?"  M: "Of course I did....I always pray for you."  M: "But, you are right today I remember praying a second time that you would be safe." T: "I know...because today I hydroplaned on the freeway and went underneath a Semi and I am not hurt."  T: "I knew you had prayed for me!"

I have always believed in the power of prayer.  I have always known that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers.  My testimony started with my testimony of prayer!  There is power in prayers.  We might not always get exactly what we pray for that we think we need but our prayers are always heard and answered.

At this point in my life I usually try not to tell Heavenly Father how to answer my prayers or what to do as I pray.  I usually ask that I can have understanding and accept His will and that I or whoever I am praying for will have peace and feel His love.  I say "usually" because even though I try to do this there are times that I simply can't help but plead for my will.....like when those that I love hurt and are experiencing pain (any kind of pain)  I plead for the pain to stop....I can't think clearly enough during those times to just ask for peace and acceptance....but usually it doesn't take long and I remember to pray that I  or those suffering can accept His will..... I do have faith that things will work out no matter what the outcome is.  I really do have Faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and Their Will!

Monday

Got Pain?......Larry Does!

Larry started having pain on July 5th while we were at Jerry and Darinda's.  He was pretty sure it was kidney stones.  The pain would come and go and when it came it was very, very painful.  Larry would double over because of the severe pain.  I saw his jaw quiver as he cried because he hurt so bad.  More than once he was curled up in a the fetal position trying to find relief from his intense pain.  It was heartbreaking to witness. I felt so helpless.  He did everything he should have.  He had our boys give him a blessing.  He went to the Doctor and got some pain reliever and another medicine that is helpful to passing kidney stones.  Even doing those things he would double up and about die because of excruciating pain.  After a week he went to the ER where he had a CAT scan to see the stone and to see there was only one but that it was lodged by the bladder.  He thought he was passing segments of the stone but later found out he was passing blood clots instead.

I stopped by his shop before taking the kids up to meet their new niece, Jordyn.  He said he was feeling good and told me that he hadn't taken any pain meds since the night before.  I left and hadn't been gone a minute when I got a text from him saying: "Oh my Attack. MAJOR!"  Then he called me barely able to breathe telling me to come get him and take him to the Urologist.  He couldn't wait until the morning to see him because he was suffering so bad.  I turned around and we drove right to the doctor.  When the pain started Larry took 3 pain killers and by the time he got in to see the doctor they had kicked in and he was feeling okay.  The doctor was great....my kids even really liked him.  He told Larry that he had a few options but the best would be to have the stone removed immediately.  He sent Larry over to the Hospital to get prepped for surgery.  (not the same hospital that Julie and Kevin and Jordyn were at...darn it)

A few hours later Larry was in surgery having Ureteroscopic Stone Removal done.  During the surgery the doctor uses a scope that goes in the ureter.  A wire basket is inserted through the tube and removes the stone.  The doctor went in the first time and couldn't see the stone because Larry's bladder was so swollen.  He had to use a larger scope and try again. This time he went directly to the stone.  When this happened he looked at his nurse and asked her if she had been praying for him.  She smiled and nodded yes.  Then he was able to remove the stone. The stone was smaller than expected and smooth.  It was about the size of a BB. (small but deadly)
Part of the surgery is to put a Ureteral Stent in.  This is a soft plastic tube with holes in it.  It helps drain urine into the bladder.  One end goes in the kidney the other in the bladder.  It helps the Ureter to heal.  A string is attacked to it that comes out of the body so that it can be removed after about 4 days. The problem with having this in is that you feel like you have to pee all the time, but you are not able to.  Frustrating to say the least.

After about 8 hours we left the hospital and headed home.  We got home around 11:00 pm.  Larry went right for the "throne" and stayed there most of the night.
I felt confident that Larry would feel so much better after the stone was removed.  Boy was I wrong!  He still had extreme pain but totally different from the kidney stone.  At 1:00 am he was moaning and rocking back and forth because he hurt so bad.  At that time I went searching for an all night pharmacy which I finally found in Layton.  I was gone for an hour getting him pain medicine and also another medicine to relieve the pressure from his bladder.  While I was gone he was screaming to release the built up pain he was experiencing.  He told me that and I did hear him when I got home.  I felt so bad.

When I was driving home from the pharmacy I continued praying for my hubby.  I wondered why our prayers weren't being answered the way we wanted.  I was reminded of all the times our prayers were answered the way we wanted and thanked Heavenly Father for those times.  I asked that He would help me understand why Larry had to suffer so much.  I was having a hard time understanding....I was so tired since I had been up since the night before...and this just wasn't making sense to me.  Then a few hours later I read this post that a friend had on Facebook...

Elder Holland 2001....."If He could come forward in the night, kneel down, fall on His face, bleed from every pore, and cry, "Abba, Father (Papa), if this cup can pass, let it pass," then little wonder that salvation is not a whimsical or easy thing for us.  If you wonder if there isn't an easier way, you should remember you are not the first one to ask that.  Someone a lot greater and a lot grander asked a long time ago if there wasn't an easier way."

I know that because I have witnessed the suffering of my sweet hubby that I have a "little" better understanding of the suffering that our Savior went through for each of us.  I know that Larry understands better as well.  I don't understand why we need to know all the things that we are taught but I do know that in the long run they are good for us.  This experience has been one of the worst experiences of our lives...maybe the worst.  But because of it we are closer to our Savior and Heavenly Father and we do understand better what He went through.  Knowledge can be so Painful!

Birth-day of Jordyn Jo Ropelato

•♥•♪♫ Oh what a glorious morning•.♥♫♡...Oh what a glorious day....•♥•♪♫ Jordyn Jo Ropelato•.♥♫♡....♫•*.made this her Birth-day!•♥•♪♫

Julie was scheduled to get started on the 15th..hoping to deliver on the 16th but Jordyn had other plans.  Julie started labor Sunday night and things went quickly from that point on.  We got a call from Kevin about 12:30 telling us that Julie was admitted.  He told us that he would call when things got closer so that I could make it up in time for the delivery.  I couldn't sleep after receiving the call and so I decided to shower and get ready.  About that time Julie was a 4 and had got just the epidural.  I assumed it would be a few hours.  Nope! Kevin called again just after 1:30 am and said that Julie was at an 8...that was fast!  I grabbed my purse and camera and headed up to Kevin and Julie's were I was meeting Jen,  Lynette and Kamryn.  I woke Jaydan up too so that he could come help Kevin give Julie a blessing.  (Larry wasn't feeling good...kidney stone issues)  I actually followed Jen and we got to the Hospital in record time...we didn't speed but there isn't any traffic at 2:00 either.  We went right up to the delivery room and I was greeted by cute Amanda Sims who was working that night.  She was so happy and nice as she got things ready for the delivery.

The Doctor was called and on his way.  Julie's doctor is Dr. Hartman....the same doctor that delivered Kevin. ☺  He walked around for a few minutes and then just said: "I have faith...you are going to do this....let's do it".  He had Julie push once and then once more and right away Jordyn's head could be seen.  The Doc told Julie to quit pushing and he went around the opening... helping Jordyn's head through and woola...there was Jordyn's cute, dark, hairy head.  One more little push and out slid the rest of her.  It was a wonderful miracle and the perfect birth! Julie felt the relief of sweet Jordyn passing...so perfect!  I was honored to be there and experience this special time.
The Doctor was pretty aggressive with Jordyn right at first.  He wiped her down and suctioned her and I'm sure she was wondering "what the heck?"  She was a little dark right at first but within seconds she took a breath and let out a tiny cry and pinked right up.

Jen had taken Kamryn in the hall and when Kam heard Jordyn's cry she wanted to come right in and wondered what took so long.  Jen got to explain a few things to her.  Jen is such a wonderful Aunt to Kamryn and a great sister to Julie.  She's just pretty wonderful and good to everyone.
Jordyn didn't cry much at all.  She opened her eyes as soon as they put the gel in them and kept them open for a few hours.  She is so alert.  She would look right at you and I got a few pictures of her looking at her daddy....so sweet and made this gramma's heart burst with joy!
Jordyn caught onto nursing right away and had her little mouth and tongue going all the time. ahhh so cute!  Kamryn was so excited and cute and very well behaved.  She is a going to be a wonderful big sister.

It was cool seeing my son give his daughter her first bath.  He is such a good daddy.  (my boys take after their daddy...all so good with kids)
Birth Days are so wonderful!  We are all so excited to have little Jordyn in our family.  Jordyn is beautiful.

What a beautiful, spiritual, experience for me to be there when Jordyn made her entrance into this world!  I appreciate Kevin and Julie for sharing that with me.

(it was the perfect birth to witness...absolutely perfect!)

Friday

weekly tidbits

*For FHE Ivy taught us a lesson about missions and sharing the Gospel.  She came up with the idea herself.  She talked about the missionaries and some of things that she has learned while the missionaries have visited them.  Zaden piped in with his comments too.  I think they like having the missionaries to their house.  Ivy had everyone draw a picture of where they went on their mission or where they would like to go.  She taped them to my door after.  I think she did a wonderful job.  I have a few artists in the family.

*Jared went to the Wind Rivers for his High Adventure Scout Trip.  He told me that he really doesn't love going to camps with large groups but he likes getting out and doing something.  He likes our group and our scouts but some of the scouts at large scout camps get on his nerves. I hope he has a great time!

*I promised Kamryn more Circus Cookies when her throat was feeling better.  She reminded me on Sunday and so I went and bought all the little families a bag of each kind of Circus Cookies for a treat.  The grands were all excited and Parker hugged his bag like he loved it.  I'm glad I was able to add smiles to their day.
*Larry has a kidney stone or something very painful.  Larry started hurting at Jerry and Darinda's on Saturday and the pain came and went the next few days.  He was really hurting Tuesday night...so bad that his chin was shaking and he was crying.  It broke my heart to see him in so much pain.  Jaydan called his brothers to come help with a blessing.  Kevin was able to come down and together, Jaydan and Kevin blessed their dad.  Larry slept good that night and started passing those teeny tiny bits of stones that caused so much pain on Wednesday just as he was leaving work.  Little buggers...that hurt so bad!  He is still having issues with them...we hope they all pass soon!  He really wants to die!

*I went to lunch with a fun bunch of gals.  It's always fun but I will admit today that I felt a little out
of place.  This groups 35 school reunion is this summer and so talk of it was mentioned.  I'm the only one that didn't graduate with everyone else and for some reason I felt out of place.  I never have before but this group was bigger today and there were a few ladies I didn't really know.  It was still fun and I mostly don't care or worry about things like that.  Heck...who really cares about age these days?  Age is just a number....if the reunion wouldn't have been brought up I know I would have thought nothing of it.  I love this group...they like to have fun and they like me! ☺ I thought about going to their reunion just to see if anyone really remembered that I graduated the year before them. (so kidding)
*I've been busy making burpies this week for Julie's little one.  I meant to when I found out that she was expecting and thought about it for a few weeks and then totally forgot until her shower when others gifted her blankets and burpies...that's when it hit me.  I hurried and went and bought some before I forgot again.  Oopsie!
*Kimi and I went to see "Blended". It made us laugh. The music was fun and we left smiling. :)
*Had a nice visit at lunch with Mallory on Friday.  I sure do love my friend Mal!  She's just awesome and wonderful!

Thursday

Yipee!!!

Braxton and Kelsi came over one night and we were talking about Julie's shower that was at my house in a few days.  Braxton said: "Hey mom, would you want to do another one of those in February?"  Heck YES!  That's how we were told...they...we....are all very excited!

Wednesday

This is Me to a Tee!

Sleep Over

Quite often on the Sundays that everyone comes Ivy will pass me a note or throw a wadded up paper at me which is also a note. (she threw me it last night and I thought it was garbage)  She likes to sleep over and that is her way of asking.  I think she has been told she needs to be invited but I don't mind her asking.  Since I don't get to see these two very often these days I showed the note to Trichelle and told her it would be fine if the kids wanted to spend the night.  They went home and got their things and came right back down.

Kimleighel and Jared slept out in the family room with them and after watching a movie they went to sleep. (I think that's what happened....I went to sleep)  Before the movie the kids played computer games...they love computer games.  In the morning I got up to shower but when I got out of the shower Ivy was laying on my floor....up for the day.  While I got ready she played on the computer some more and then Zaden joined her.  We made pancakes for breakfast and then we cleaned up and I took the kids to their daycare.   It was fun having them over!  I love my grands so much!
