Tuesday

blurrrr

Sometimes when I think back on the days they are a blur to me.  I can't remember what happened for sure on Monday and Tues.  I do know we went to Costco to get some discount tickets for our Zip Line excursion.  I also know that the guys were suppose to go fishing on Tuesday but it got cancelled so we ended up snorkeling at Anni Beach.  I know when we went to rent the snorkel gear we treated ourselves to a shaved ice.  This trip we only got one shaved ice because the weather wasn't too hot.  Usually we get shaved ice a few times.
Whenever there was a "Kodak Moment" Carla and I took advantage of it.  We are getting pretty good at selfies with my camera.  I didn't take pictures at the beach because I really don't like pictures with my swim suit....however I was in my swim suit for a full day and very uncomfortable. (not my favorite. Carla and I even traded shirts because hers was bigger so we switched things up)
We went on a boat to the Fern Grotto.  We had heard so much about it and Carla had even heard it was the Prettiest Place on Earth.  I told her the lady that told her that needed to get around more.  It was pretty but not the prettiest place.  We compared it to every place we went to after that.
We learned to hula dance on the boat ride back.  I think Carla and I are naturals. (wink~wink)
We also visited a few waterfalls and saw lots of chickens.  Kauai has lots of chickens everywhere and this time around there were lots of baby chicks.
While we were at the waterfalls a guy next to us noticed Larry's Detroit Lion's shirt and asked us if we were from Detroit.  The guy and his wife were from Detroit.  Actually Larry and I were still at the car when this happened and Carla and Roger were off looking at the falls.  We visited with the young couple for quite a bit and Carla and Roger were heading back.  Carla has told me that no matter where we go I always run into someone I know so I thought I would act like we knew these people.  I told them quickly to just go along with us.  I motioned at Carla and Roger to come meet our friends that we have known forever.  Carla responded right away with "we don't go anywhere that Dawn and Larry don't know someone."  We all laughed and the truth was shared.  We never did run into anyone we knew this go around.
We enjoyed a dinner at the Dolphin Restaurant one of those nights.  Larry and I usually go to the Dolphin once during our stay.  It's another good place that is close to us.

Every day was filled with fun and relaxation.  I love vacations that are relaxing.

Kelsi's a Year Older

It's Kelsi's birthday and she is at the "legal age".  Not that being legal matters at all since she doesn't participate in the things you need to be 21 for.  I just know she thought it was exciting and had mentioned it.

Kelsi girl is a quiet, sweet girl.  She is happy and easy going and fits Braxton very well.  She is truly a blessing to our family.  I love watching her and her expressions.  Sometimes her expressions are louder than anything she says.

Kelsi is a cute mom and loves being Sadie's mom.  She is a wonderful little wife to Braxton and we all just love her.  I'm thankful for this cute girl and I love seeing Ropelato at the end of her name.  She's a keeper! ♥

Kauai .... a great place to Relax

Waimea Canyon is so pretty and a place you wouldn't expect to see on Kauai.  It's like the Grand Canyon.  We have visited this place many times and today there was a Native there telling about his traditions.  I personally thought he was probably making things up but Carla seemed to enjoy his thoughts.
I thought he was brave standing there in his "nakedness" while the breeze blew his cloth around.  He didn't seem to mind. haha
The canyon is beautiful and a fun place to visit.  I think Carla and Roger enjoyed seeing it.
Larry and I enjoyed showing them around the Island.  We visited a few of our favorite spots.
After seeing the canyon we went to a really nice beach...Poli Hali.  We call this beach the Stu Lemmon beach because Stu showed it to us first.  I wonder if Carla and Roger will now call it the Ropelato beach since we showed it to them first. ☺
It's a beautiful beach and not many people come to it because of the bumpy road to it. (it's gotten better)  We enjoyed listening to the waves crash while we laid back and relaxed.  We also enjoyed a lunch here.  It was a lovely and relaxing day.
Since Carla enjoys her coffee so much Larry thought she might enjoy the coffee plantation.  We had never stopped here before and so it was a first for us.  It was pretty and had some fun things to see as we wondered around.
I learned that the coffee bean is actually called a "cherry" and can grow as large as a coconut.  The bean is actually the pit of the cherry.
This cool machine goes right over the bushes and knocks the cherries off so they can then dry.  The beans don't smell like coffee until they are dried.
Cute sign...it says..."There are only two times a day to drink coffee..AM & PM" "Good friends don't spill the beans."  "I don't perk until my coffee does."
Carla is the cutest cup of coffee I've ever seen.  Coffee makes Carla happy!
A really pretty tree called the Bottle Brush Tree.  The flowers did look like the brushes that you clean baby bottles with.
So much beauty all around us.  So much beauty on Kauai!

Wednesday

Blood Drive

Today Larry is over the Blood Drive for our Stake.  That is part of his calling and so I told him that I would help him out.  I told Larry I was taking Kelsi to lunch and would probably be there when it started but  didn't know for sure.  It would depend on Kelsi.  He called me a few times  that morning to have me do things for him.  One thing he needed me to do was open the building so when the Red Cross came it would be ready.  I went and opened the building and turned on the lights and was leaving when I noticed a guy come out of the other part of the building.  I thought I'd better go tell him what I was doing so he wouldn't lock it back up.  I had left the parking lot and noticed another car going to the gym I had just left opened.  I turned around and went back in to tell that person too because I didn't want them turning everything off and locking it back up either.  It's a good thing I did and it all worked out great.  No one locked it back up and it was ready when the Red Cross showed up.  I got back in time to run home a few times for things Larry had forgotten. (he's getting forgetful like me)

I went back and helped checked people in.  I noticed that not as many workers had shown up but there were lots of people ready to donate blood.  Last time we heard a few of the workers complain about always being so busy at this blood  drive in Hooper and they didn't like it...so I'm not sure if that's why there were less workers or not but they could have really used some extra help.  I felt bad that the "givers" had to wait.  Carla showed up to donate and planned on helping but really since we don't know how to draw the blood there really wasn't much to do.  She hung around for a while before heading home.  I enjoyed helping out as much as I could.

Celebrating Kelsi

Since I was going to be in Kauai for Kelsi's birthday, and since she is home because she just had Sadie, and since her mom isn't close by to spoil her, I decided to take her to lunch and give her a birthday gift a little early.  This year I decided to get my married girls decorations for their homes.  I figure decorations can be enjoyed in every home and they just add to to whatever is already there.  I was going to get Kelsi some St. Patricks Day decorations but decided to go with Easter since it can be enjoyed longer.  Kelsi liked it and hung it on her door before we left.  I smile every time I pass their home. ☺

We went to Zuppa's for lunch which is always a favorite of mine.  Kelsi loves that place like I do.  I was carrying the tray with our food and water to the table and felt my pulse slipping off my shoulder.  I knew it was going to fall to the crook of my arm but I had no idea it was going to jiggle my arm just enough to have one of the waters pour right down the front of me....Yep....that's what happened.  It was kind of embarrassing but we just went with it.  A nice worker came and cleaned up my spill and then took our picture.  It was enjoyable getting to know Kelsi a little better.  My boys have sure picked some very cute girls to wed....I love them all.  Kelsi is such a cutie!
