Blood Drive

Today Larry is over the Blood Drive for our Stake.  That is part of his calling and so I told him that I would help him out.  I told Larry I was taking Kelsi to lunch and would probably be there when it started but  didn't know for sure.  It would depend on Kelsi.  He called me a few times  that morning to have me do things for him.  One thing he needed me to do was open the building so when the Red Cross came it would be ready.  I went and opened the building and turned on the lights and was leaving when I noticed a guy come out of the other part of the building.  I thought I'd better go tell him what I was doing so he wouldn't lock it back up.  I had left the parking lot and noticed another car going to the gym I had just left opened.  I turned around and went back in to tell that person too because I didn't want them turning everything off and locking it back up either.  It's a good thing I did and it all worked out great.  No one locked it back up and it was ready when the Red Cross showed up.  I got back in time to run home a few times for things Larry had forgotten. (he's getting forgetful like me)

I went back and helped checked people in.  I noticed that not as many workers had shown up but there were lots of people ready to donate blood.  Last time we heard a few of the workers complain about always being so busy at this blood  drive in Hooper and they didn't like it...so I'm not sure if that's why there were less workers or not but they could have really used some extra help.  I felt bad that the "givers" had to wait.  Carla showed up to donate and planned on helping but really since we don't know how to draw the blood there really wasn't much to do.  She hung around for a while before heading home.  I enjoyed helping out as much as I could.

Celebrating Kelsi

Since I was going to be in Kauai for Kelsi's birthday, and since she is home because she just had Sadie, and since her mom isn't close by to spoil her, I decided to take her to lunch and give her a birthday gift a little early.  This year I decided to get my married girls decorations for their homes.  I figure decorations can be enjoyed in every home and they just add to to whatever is already there.  I was going to get Kelsi some St. Patricks Day decorations but decided to go with Easter since it can be enjoyed longer.  Kelsi liked it and hung it on her door before we left.  I smile every time I pass their home. ☺

We went to Zuppa's for lunch which is always a favorite of mine.  Kelsi loves that place like I do.  I was carrying the tray with our food and water to the table and felt my pulse slipping off my shoulder.  I knew it was going to fall to the crook of my arm but I had no idea it was going to jiggle my arm just enough to have one of the waters pour right down the front of me....Yep....that's what happened.  It was kind of embarrassing but we just went with it.  A nice worker came and cleaned up my spill and then took our picture.  It was enjoyable getting to know Kelsi a little better.  My boys have sure picked some very cute girls to wed....I love them all.  Kelsi is such a cutie!

Tuesday

I knew it was coming

I love the beauty of a snow covered yard.  I knew we shouldn't all get too excited that we didn't get much snow and that we enjoyed spring weather most of this winter.  I figured it would be coming and today it did.  The seasons are getting weird and make me smile. I think it's funny listening to the opinions of others concerning the weather.  Some people are never happy no matter what the weather is.  I enjoy all the seasons whenever they decide to show up.  I'm glad I live in a place that all four seasons are different.  I have always been grateful for that.  I like the snow...we need it.

Monday

FHE at Texas Road House

Gramps had a gift card for the Texas Road House and we were trying to find a time that would work for us.  We also had a gift card and decided that it would be nice to take our kids and call it FHE since Monday was the best day to go.  Truthfully we haven't been the best at having family home evening the last year.  We use to do it on Sunday with the married kids and grands but haven't now that they need to leave earlier to get to bed for school.  Kimleighel mentioned to Larry that she misses it and so we are going to make a better effort at spending time with our kids on Monday and talking and playing with them.

Tonight was nice though going with gramps and the kids.  I don't know why I even order a meal at Texas Road House. Their rolls and appetizers make me full.  I think I ate most of the fried pickles.  Larry kept putting them on my plate and I kept eating them. And, those rolls....I love the rolls! By the time the meal came I was so full.  I gave Larry half my steak since he only ordered shrimp but meant to order salmon. (brain and mouth weren't together) I still couldn't finish the  little steak I had and only ate one shrimp.  I was stuffed and feeling yucky.  But it was good and we did enjoy our time together.  That's what's important anyway right?  I'm thankful for family time and for the family I get to spend time with!

One on One Time

Sometimes you just need a little one on one time!  I love when I get that with my friends or kids. You can talk and share a little easier than in a group.  I was missing Jodi and our one on one.  We keep tabs of each other pretty good from our blogs but sometimes a face to face visit is needed.  I especially wanted a face to face after commenting a few times on one of Jodi's blog posts.  Reading something with the wrong expression can sure change what was written.  I had read over a few things I wrote and could see that it could be read wrong very easily.  I don't think Jodi did only because she knows me but I did want to visit in person.

We always have wonderful visits and could go on and on if it weren't for time and other things needing to be done.  I love Jodi and her insight and knowledge.  I think it's great that we all just help each other through this life.  That's Heavenly Fathers plan anyway.  We are all His mouth piece every now and then.  We can share and help each other from the things we've experienced and learned.  I love the wonderful friends and family that help me "get" the things I need to be getting.  Inspiration comes from the Holy Ghost and others that are right here with us. As I get older I recognize the Holy Ghost more and more and know when He is using others to help me understand things better.  The Holy Ghost is more than a wonderful gift....He is our Friend and loves us just as much as our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  I didn't use to give Him the credit He deserved. (I took Him for granted)
Jodi surprised me with a cute calendar full of wonderful sayings.  She said it had my name on it...or at least it reminded her of me.  Jodi loves quotes like I love quotes and this calendar has some good ones.
"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything New!"
"To see Yourself through the eyes of a friend is to know how special you really are."
"Laughing out loud is not the answer to everything but it's the answer to Most things" (chocolate is the answer to everything)
"She listened to her Heart and that made all the difference."
"She believed she could, so she Did."
"While you live, Love.  While you walk, dance. While you see, Dream."
"Half of Doing is Believing You Can!"
"Follow our heart.  It knows the way."
"Wherever You are, Shine Brightly."
"With love, family, and friends, a heart live more than one life."
"You can Never have Too much Happy!"
"Be where you are; otherwise you will miss your life."

Questions from HERE

Saturday

I should have been "Playing"

I should have been "playing" with my fun friends at the theater tonight but my cough guided me instead.  I just couldn't imagine having a cough attack surrounded by people and not being able to get out. (I do pretty good but there are times I cough so hard I throw up...couldn't take the chance)  As far as I'm concerned I am better but others might no agree if my cough kicks in.  I figure I was sick for a week and that is all I'm giving to it. (my cough hasn't quite got the message that we spent enough time together but I am done)

I didn't want to stay home though because I have done that enough lately.  I figured Larry and I would do something but then a few choices came up.  Our friends, The Winters had called to hang out and so did Kamryn.  The Winters had initially called first but hadn't got back to us when Kam called.  Either way I knew we were not staying home.  If I got coughing I knew I would be able to leave.  Sue did get back to me and so we went to The Winters for dinner and to play games.  My kids went to watch movies with Kamryn and her family. (I love that Julie and Kevin include our families when they have a movie night...so thoughtful)
Alan loves to cook and so he cooked up some yummy fish and we enjoyed some wonderful fish taco's.  Then we played cards and had banana splits for dessert.  It was fun visiting with them and spending time with the Winters.  Alan's sister Debbie and her hubby came too and it was nice chatting with them.  I think Larry and Bishop (Debbie's hubby who's name I can't remember) chatted a lot about church stuff.  When this couple was first called we bumped into them at Cherry Hill's one night.  Debbie told me that she had been reading in her journal about that night and how much my words had helped her.  That made me feel good....that's probably why we "bumped" into each other.

The missionaries text Larry and wanted to come over and so we ended up leaving.  It was probably good though so Sue and Alan could visit with their family before it was too late.
