My New Group of Young Women
Looking at the calendar for the next little bit and I am not scheduled to teach again. I think I mostly just get to hang out and get to know the girls better. I know when I do teach again I will be prepared to ask more questions because these girls will answer them. When I went to bed I kept replaying in my mind the lesson and adding questions that I should have asked. I don't really care for the "replay" in my mind....I wish I could push a "stop" button.
I shared the story of my Patriarchal Blessing with these gals......this is Prophecy happening! Since this calling I have reflected on my life and can see how I have been being prepared. I have worked in the Young Women for most of the last 25 years....a bit of that time has also been in RS which has also been a help in my preparation. OH... and it looks like I might be going to Girls Camp after all. (woot~woot)

Girl Fun
Actually Mallory gave Kathy glasses for her birthday, (Mal had the same kind) and the gray just happened. I compromised and made my own glasses, and then I borrowed Kathy's new birthday glasses and helped Mal make Kathy look silly.
I know we are getting older but it's hard for me to see it in us. I feel young and we act young and I don't think we look too bad either. (our kids would probably set us straight) I enjoy these wonderful friends. We are celebrating again in a few weeks. We decided to go to lunch at least a couple of times for each of our birthdays. I like that....Birthday Month is better than Birthday Day. Woo Hoo for more birthdays!
On Friday the Fun Bunch from HS got together. Karie had a few days off and her and I were going to go to lunch and decided to throw it out for everyone. I am really glad we did. In fact that is a good way to do it....set a day and time and just do it. It's hard to try to accommodate everyone and their schedules. It was a great day to go since Karie just had a birthday the day before. (Karie & Kathy have the same birthday)
Karie has cancer and is continually fighting it. She is doing well right now. The meds seem to be working. Karie never complains and is such a great example to me and I know the others as well. Karie and Gina keep fighting and winning and I hope they continue to come out on top.
I refer this group as the Fun Bunch because we all enjoy getting crazy. Crazy is fun....it is! They all like that I bring my camera. They all want to make fun memories together. I like that....I like that a lot!

Today I Bowled Well
"Work" went well today. I acted like I knew what I was doing and that I was in control of the ball. I improved each game which usually doesn't happen.....in fact, I'm not sure it has ever happened. The first game was a 167, the second a 181 and the third a 193 which gives me a total of 541. That is good for me and I will admit it's more fun when the pins fall down.
*Ivy told her mom years ago that Gramma (me) had two jobs. Trichelle was puzzled and asked her what my jobs were. Ivy said: "she watches us kids and she bowls". There you have it from the mouth of babes. Ivy also mentioned that Trichelle didn't have any jobs even though she is going to school and is a mom..... I guess those things don't count like bowling does.

A Prophecy has been Fulfilled
Tonight I was called into the Stake Presidency's Office and was called to Serve in the Special Needs Mutual, teaching the Young Women the Book of Mormon.
A Prophecy? Why yes it is! On November 6, 1975 I received my Patriarchal Blessing. In the very last paragraph I was told: "You will be desirous of teaching, not only in the organizations of the Church but among some of the handicapped and disadvantaged of our Father's children. You will touch their lives for good and help them to achieve greater accomplishments than they would otherwise be able to do. These activities will bring much joy and satisfaction to you, as you see the uplifting influence that you have upon their lives." So, there you have it!
When I received my blessing I'm not going to lie...that part kind of scared me. I didn't know how that could be. I thought maybe I would have handicapped children. Some time after we moved to Hooper I learned that there was a Special Needs Mutual for the Handicapped Children. At that time I thought, I will serve there someday. I didn't want to tell anyone because I didn't want to influence them to call me. I wanted it to be by revelation from God and I know that it was. President Christiansen told me that while praying to fill that position my name kept surfacing. I just smiled and told him that I had been anticipating that call for many years. He asked me to share my story and I bet it made him happy to know that they had got it right. Of course they did, anytime we follow the promptings of the "Spirit" we will get it right.
I am excited for this calling now. I can look back and see that I have been prepared for it. I'm not afraid in anyway. I feel blessed to be working with these special daughters of God. I know my blessing said that I will be a blessing in their lives but I believe it will be the other way around. I am so excited to teach them about the Book of Mormon and to interact with them each week.
I wouldn't have guessed that I would enjoy something like this but that just goes to show that God knows us best. I have thought back over the years and have realized that the "special" children of God have touched my heart and I have had a great love for them. My heart is Happy!

1 wig, 2 wig, 3 wig, 4........
They didn't even feel that weird on and I hate having anything on my head....the wigs weren't bad at all. They felt fine....the hair on these wigs were nice....I enjoyed running my fingers through it.
The blonde wigs didn't change my looks that much and so I started trying on the darker one....I liked how it changed my look. I'm not sure if my wrinkles showed any more or not....I had a lady tell me that my dark hair made my wrinkles stand out...that's when I went a little lighter. I don't think I am going to care anymore...I have wrinkles...so what....I'm older with thin skin...it happens. (really I care but can only do so much)
The red was a joke....maybe if they would have had blue or purple I might have been tempted...well actually no....I wouldn't have been tempted. I liked the cut but not the hair. I tried it in brown and it looked better..
Kathy looks good in all colors....she's just cute....that's why! Dang this was fun! I suggest it to anyone that wants to do something a little different. Dressing up is fun at all ages....well for me and Kathy it is.
The last wigs I tried on where the same style but different colors. These wigs were also more affordable. I was thinking of getting the blonde since it was so similar to my own hair and then because of that reason....I ended up getting the darker one. I can't even believe I brought a wig home. I had no intentions of getting one. I knew Kathy would and she was going for the blonde right up to the end and chose a long black one instead. We are planning on going out in our wigs soon....see if anyone even notices. Oh my heck.....I think we are funny. I posted a picture on facebook with the top picture (dark hair...no bangs) and got a lot of positive comments...that wig was too expensive though or I might have gone back and got it.
